In underdeveloped countries, tourism has disadvantages and can be said the opposite as well.

Discuss your opinion with the relevant example.

Amidst the turmoil in the global economy, tourism sector plays major indices of foreign
exchange and prosperity. While some believe that tourism impacts local population and
biodiversity negatively, I believe that it has positive effects as well. This essay will further
present my opinion.
Many of the underdeveloped countries economies thrive heavy on rain-fed agriculture and
the tourism sector. The creation of direct and indirect employment in tourism enterprises
gives employment to local population thereby focuses on poverty reduction. So the
economic stability of many underdeveloped and developing countries depend upon the
growth of this sector.
For example, Kenya’s tourism sector is its principal source of foreign exchange. According to
Wikipedia, Kenya’s services sector, which contributes about 63 percent of GDP, is
dominated by tourism. The tourists, mainly from Germany and the United Kingdom visit the
country to rejoice coastal beaches and the game reserves. Like Kenya, development in the
tourism sector has a great impact on the economy of underdeveloped countries.
On the other hand, tourism has disadvantage on the rich cultural heritage and abundant
biodiversity of the host country. The heavy use of cigarettes, cigars, and plastics leads to
environmental hazards. The interaction between tourists and local communities export
adverse effect of western culture. However, there is no denying that the tourism provides
opportunity to prosperity and great promise to the economic potential of the
underdeveloped countries both in the short term and the long term.

People Usually Mix Their Private and Professional Life. What Are The Pros And Cons Of
This?
Some people live two lives, private and professional life and try to maintain a balance
between the two. Needless to say, this creates two different worlds for them with different
people. The person treats both of its circle differently and shares time with each circle as or
when needed. But there are many who mix their private and professional life. I will lay out
the pros and cons of this in my essay.
It is always advisable to keep personal and professional lives separate. Usually, when people
mix both, there are chances of one aspect to encroach upon the other remaining aspects.
The experts believe the lack of balance between the private and professional life can cause
stress and frustration. For some, it causes emotional deprivation, depersonalization of
relationships, reduced productivity at work and the reduced sense of accomplishment. It is
important that poor job performance should not affect your personal life and personal crisis
should not be taken to work as one or both situation can expose you to vulnerabilities.
This is an era of communication and social networks. For some, mixing their private and
professional life proves advantageous. Through social sites like Facebook, Google+, Twitter,
people can interact with their co-workers, friends and professional contacts and can
enhance their social circle. It opens up stream of opportunities in all front. It is just a mental
state when you need to separate the two worlds. The individuals can enjoy their work while
maintaining friendly relationships with their co-workers.
To conclude, the youth today enjoy working and having relationship with the same person. I
believe mixing private and professional life is not a big deal as long as we do not violate
social ethics and professional norms.

The violence portrayed on T.V and in the movies leads to an increase in crime in our
society. People who watch violent movies are more likely to become criminals. Do you
agree or disagree?
The media like movies, TV, and the news sets the tone for our cultural norms. In my view,
exposure to violence portrayed on T.V and in the movies has a great impact on people
especially children. I partly agree with the statement that people who watch violent movies
are more likely to become criminals.
In the world we live in today, watching media like movies, TV, and the news means exposing
yourself to virtual violence. Everyone is watching more and more violence in the
mainstream media and social media every day! Though the world is safer than ever before
for human beings to flourish, violence is indeed in human nature. There is an uprising trend
of reports of violence and explicit content on television.
As every human being is different so everyone behaves differently when exposed to virtual
violence like seeing brutality such as tearing human bodies apart on news has a great impact
on the minds of teenagers. Young people and children are more likely to behave
aggressively and indulge in harmful activities. While some become less sensitive to the pain
and suffering of other living beings, others become more fearful of the world around them.
So often kids don’t distinguish between the reality and fantasy so growing up thinking
violence is acceptable can lead them to a path of criminal activities and war. To conclude,
movies and TV have a great impact on the society with the negative waves especially to the
teenagers. Viewing excessive amounts of violence in the media cause desensitization to
violence which might lead to an increase in crime in our society.

Nowadays, the mass media including TV, radio, and newspaper have become the essential
part of our lives. What is your opinion?
Some people are of the view that TV, radio, and newspaper have become the essential part
of our lives. Though there are some people who reject this notion and argue. In recent
years, the mass media has a great impact on people’s view and opinions that are already
established. The substantial influence of the mass media has sparked debate over the
internet. In my opinion, mass media including e-mail and blogs influence public in more of
negative way. This essay will further present this view and thus will lead to a logical
conclusion.
There are myriad of points to explain the influence of mass media on our lives and the most
preponderant is shaping the general public views on various news agendas. Mass media is
often used by agencies and media houses to convince their audience through
advertisements, discussions, news or shows. It takes the advantage of vulnerability of their
target audience and convinces them to act in a certain way.
TV shows and movies based on social issues mislead its viewers and public from the real
picture. Such programs share thoughts with an opinionated perspective which in turn
provoke criticism. It influences people’s opinion in both positive and negative ways. The
young people spend an average of 4 to 5 hours in front of screens of their laptops,
smartphones, and TV. Sometimes they are feed with unwanted information, disturbing
images of violence and other related issues causing extreme pressure on young minds. This
lead to youngsters to do misbehavior or sometimes go against the law.
According to the argument aforementioned above, the mass media have become the
essential part and its influence on our lives is ever growing and getting stronger as time
passes.

Do you think consumer should avoid over packed products or it is responsibility of

producer to avoid extra packaging of products? Give your views or any relevant example
with your own experience.

The packaging of products serves a number of functions. The foremost is to make things
easy to carry by the end-user. Although the packaging is very important to make things
more convenient but sometimes the consumer gets annoyed by the over packing of
products. I am of the view that consumer should avoid over packed products as often it is
purely marketing. In this article, I will further explain my viewpoint with the valid example.
Recently I visited a supermarket to find plastic-wrapped bananas. In my view bananas
already come with their own natural biodegradable cover so what is the need for this extra
packaging. When I inquired from the company’s customer service, they reverted that it
keeps bananas fresh for long. I feel this extra plastic packaging makes the company eligible
to charge more for the same fruit.
Simply put, some products are unnecessarily over packed to make more money from the
consumer. Also, some product’s cover is specially designed to give the false perception of
greater value to the consumer. The consumer should avoid buying products that tend to be
over packed.
Instead, we can always carry our own bag to the supermarket to buy regular grocery or
fruits to the home. If a consumer feels like any product is over-packed then he/she can
replace the product with another comparable brand or company. This way we can show our
support to brand/company opting for less packaging or go-green plan.
To conclude, we should always opt for minimal, fully recyclable and compostable packaging.
It is the responsibility of both consumer and manufacturers to go greenway and opt for
minimal packaging whenever possible.

Many people think regions affect successful persons. What is your opinion about native
regions and accomplished person influence on the regions they belong to?

A good education and environment to grow up are the two keys to success. This view is
especially prevalent in people who are of the opinion that regions affect successful persons.
Still, many also believe one’s native place has nothing to do with his/her success. In my
opinion, success can be determined by one’s hard work, determination and attitude.
Often a person’s native place lacks resources like good schools, higher education institutes
etc. and motivation factor that are much needed to be a successful person. Some people are
of the view that the environment in which a person grows contributes much to his/her
success. In their opinion, the lack of accessibility to resources like educational and training
materials forces the individuals to move out of their native place. Also with whom you
spend your most of the time defines how much successful you get.
Having said that, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg are the two well-renowned names of this
era’s successful persons. It is often highlighted that they were college dropouts. But yes
there success does influence the regions they belong to. The residents of the place, friends
and family take motivation from the person to get ahead in life. One’s success boosts other
people to follow their dream.
To conclude, having successful people as your friends, associates or family members does
not directly entitle you to success. They might help you find a better job or opens up doors
of opportunity but it is yours’s hard work and determination that get you success.

Climate change and about the roles that government, corporate and individuals can play
to improve it.

The human kind is very well aware of the rising average temperature of the earth and that’s
not the only sign around us to see climate change. Most of the climate scientists have a
common consensus that current warming trend is very likely human-induced and
proceeding at a rate much higher than ever. In this essay, I point out roles that government,
corporate, and individuals can play to improve it.
The government needs to create mass awareness programs and improve knowledge of
people on how and what are bringing these climate changes. The knowledge about climate
change and lifestyle adaptation measures should be conveyed to the public. Without
government intervention, such mass programs is difficult to execute as it requires huge
initial investment.
Corporate can play their part by promoting energy efficient appliances in offices, encourage
its employees to carpool, and by organizing corporate contest for its employees to come up
with innovative ideas to save energy and environment. The winning idea can be implement
in office.
Every individual should also contribute their bit of effort to save our green environment. By
inducing a small change in our lifestyle we can make big difference. People can walk for a
shorter distance work or switch to cycling more often than ever.
To conclude, the signs are clear and alarming. We all should adopt energy efficient and
environment protection ideas and processes. Make the best use of waste and recycle
garbage and chemicals.

Nowadays TV has become an essential part of life. Medium to spread news & awareness
and for some it acts like a companion. What is your opinion about this?

Nowadays TV has become an essential part of life. Undoubtedly, TV is one of the important
inventions of the human’s history. TV not only entertain people and also make them aware
of their surroundings. Some experts are of the view that it a medium to spread the news.
Here, in the below essay I will further elaborate my viewpoint.
Television acts as an unlimited source of entertainment, news, knowledge and
advertisements showing aspects of our lives. Channels like History, Discovery, and National
Geographic shows you the things that you are not even aware of. These channels feature
content involving nature, science, culture, and history along with other entertainment
programs. With their cognitive learning programs, they broaden the horizon of people
especially students. A large body of research indicates that children learn better through
visuals.
In addition news channels keep you updated with current happenings and events from
around the globe. People can know about Syria’s civil war, watch the live update of
American Presidential election or where NYSE closed today. In just a matter of time, TV
brings you the breaking by pressing an appropriate button. Or you can watch any of your
favourite programs. For example, it brings me the weather report so to plan my day well in
advance.
Further emphasizing on my point of view, it is not wrong to say that TV like a companion for
some. It is there is every household of a nation and influences life of people living in society.
To conclude, TV is one of the miracles of science and it is up to us to make the best use of it.

Company top level authorities should or should not take employees suggestions or ideas
to take any decisions. Discuss?

The participation and involvement of employees in decision-making process of organization

is a real risk and on the other hand, promotes company’s growth. So whether to involve
employees in decision making by company’s top level authorities is arguable. The argument
has both sides which I will discuss further in this essay.
Within decision-making process, sensitive financial data and information are shared with the
participants. When the company involves employees in such process it makes them feel
trustworthy and being treated fairly. They treat themselves as an important asset for the
organization. Such feelings lead to enhanced performance and improved productivity. The
employee who voices in top level authorities discussion feel secure and in turn great
commitment towards the organization.
The fear of inconsistent decision making greatly increases by involving employee
suggestions or ideas to take any decisions. Top level authorities or managers face a hard
time monitoring negative communication and attitude among employees. When there are
many voices in top level decision making, there is potential for chaos. Also, there are some
secrets in an organization that are meant for are reserved for management levels should not
be revealed to everyone. Such activities promote sharing of company’s valuable information
which increases the risk of information getting leaked. It can prove dangerous for the well-
being of an organization.
To conclude, the consistent decision making is critical to brand recognition and consistency.
Allowing employees to share their ideas and make decisions have more of advantage for an
organization so steps should be taken to ensure consistency of decision. More of
employee’s involvement will result in increased output and thereby in company’s growth.
“Formal written examination is an effective way to assess students”. Do you agree with
the statement?”
OR
In the education system, assessment through formal written examination still valid?

There has long been much contention about the evolution of teaching methods, its
effectiveness and growing emphasis on methods to assess a learner’s performance. I partly
agree with the statement as the formal written examination is an effective way to test what
students have learned in class but this method has flaws too which I will further explain in
this essay.
Throughout the world, the examination is an official sanction, indispensable method to
force the learners to put in more effort, to stay motivated and strive for more energetic
attempt to achieve the goal. In our contemporary school systems, formal written
examinations are organized at fixed intervals (quarterly, semi-annual or annual) to assess
the level of knowledge in students and in the case of failure, they are made to repeat the
class. Through this conventional method, students are subjected to tests of control of the
knowledge taught.
Through formal written examinations, educators get a view of children who require
informed assistance. In particular, the early diagnosis of deviation in student’s attributes
and pedagogical methods of teaching makes it possible to identify and address the
weaknesses before they become irremediable.
Having said that, the formal written examination cannot gauge one’s level comprehensively.
Often in such exams, the mere cramming of subjects is enough to score good grades which I
think is not an effective method to assess a learner’s ability and skills. The educators should
think of other qualitative assessments tools and performance evaluation methods like oral
presentation, group discussion etc. to assess both learning outcome and quality of learning
process.

Successful sports stars and glamorous film stars are a role model for youngsters. Do you
support it or not? (Agree / Disagree).

Youngsters tend to look up to successful sports stars and glamorous film stars as role
models. I do not support this trend as nowadays celebrities are better known for their
glamor and wealth than for their achievements, and this sets a bad example to youngsters
who follow them.
The glamorous and wealthy lifestyles of celebrities attract young minds. Without any doubt,
the bad decisions and mistakes committed by celebrity sports stars and film stars are
wrongly perceived as their achievement by the young people. Most of the celebrities are
associated with scandals and negative image. The pop singer, Miley Cyrus is one such
example whose life is full of controversies. From getting accused of racism to taking joint on
stage in front of millions of viewers, Miley Cyrus has always been a bad role model for her
fans. While hitting the headlines with controversial pictures, statements and moments, the
celebrities should have thought about their millions of fans who are following their every
footstep.
Some celebrities only want fame and limelight, for them, negative attention is worth
getting. It is evident that impact of such celebrities is more of negative than positive. They
are shaping the young minds in the wrong direction. Along with bad role models, there are
some sports stars and film stars who do use their fame to bring a positive change in their
life. They set a good celebrity role models. The Hollywood star, Angelina Jolie can be a
perfect example. She is a great spokeswoman and can lead children in the right direction.
To conclude, youngsters need to choose good people as their role model than successful
sports stars and glamorous film stars.

A good education and environment to grow up are the two keys to success. This view is
especially prevalent in people who are of the opinion that regions affect successful persons.

These days some people involved in dangerous activities such as extreme skiing,
motorcycles jumping etc. Whether you support them or not.
Everything has two sides and so do dangerous sports activities like extreme skiing, bungee
jumping etc. Though people find such activities very enjoyable but it can be life threatening
too. In this essay, I am going to take a look at both sides before coming to any conclusion.
People mainly youth find dangerous sporting games very enjoyable and alluring because of
a large amount of prize associated with these games. People often take them as the
challenge from their peer or after playing thrilling games on play station. “To confront fear”
is another reason why people in huge numbers participate in such activities even after
knowing the danger associated with them. Some experts are optimistic with these sports
and tag them as “character developing”. I do not support activities where you risk your life
over and over again.
The hype created by media for “crazy” and “out of the box” activities is one of the reasons
for the popularity of such dangerous activities. Many people do it to give the image of
“being cool” with their friends and social media groups. They upload pictures while doing
activities like skydiving or bungee jumping just to catch attention and to get crazy likes and
comments.
Some advertisements with their tagline promote the idea that “good things are dangerous”.
Thus, extreme sports industry thrive by selling the image of aspiration. Every year, the
accidents and casualties caused due to extreme sports are increasing in number. To be
noted that the activities reported in such cases are meant to be fun. In conclusion, these
activities are a way of innovating, enjoyment or looking for thrills, but we should play it safe.

What is the best invention of last 100 years, computer, antibiotics, and airplane and
explain why.
OR
In the past 100 years, there are many inventions such as antibiotics, airplanes and
computers. What do you think is the most important invent for the past 100 years? Why?

Over the past 100 years, human kind has progressed tremendously with the inventions like
antibiotics, airplanes, computers and many more. From the era of wheels to the era of
computers, we have come a long way. Although all three of the innovations has shaped our
lives, in my view antibiotics is the most important invent for the past 100 years. In this post,
I will further explain my view point with valid examples.
It would have been very hard for the human civilization to progress further without these
miracle drugs. Antibiotics were not present 100 years ago. Penicillin was discovered in 1928
by Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming and it was the era of the 1940s that people began
using antibiotics to treat infections. Since then it has been recognized as one of the greatest
inventions of the 20th century.
The longer survival of human kind could have been possible with advancement in medical
science. Earlier measles, small pox, even flu could turn out to be fatal. The viruses and
bacteria which are invisible to the human eye cannot be destroyed by any tool. Before
antibiotics, bacterial infections and common illnesses, such as strep throat, poses serious
health issues. They are now easily treated.
Survival is the ultimate goal of the human race and to fulfil this goal we began hunting,
discovered wheels and fire. We further invented tools for easy preying. When survival
becomes less of a concern we started focusing on discovering luxury pursuits like airplane
and computer. To conclude, I believe antibiotic is the most important invent for the past 100
years. Without antibiotics, we could not have been survived long enough for other
inventions.

Marketing strategy for big companies should be placed on offer and discounts, and in
what ways this can impact on their reputation.

Getting offers and discounts on big brands all year long is a regular thing now. I am of
opinion that a good marketing strategy can help a company or brand achieve a higher
perceived value. Although offers and discounts are useful for driving customers and short
term sales but it impacts brand reputation and market position in a negative way.
Loyal and returning customers is an asset for any business or company. It costs hundreds of
dollars to make a loyal customer and in return, they give high ROI prospects. Such
customers can benefit a company in many ways. Offering discounts on products by big
brands persuade their loyal customers in thinking that the quality of products has been
compromised. Its impact will be long term and hard to repair.
Most of the customers have the perception ‘You get what you pay for’ so cheap offers or
discounted prices can take away the loyal customers and instead get the business a
different stream of customers who are disloyal and often indecisive. Such people can spread
bad words about the brand that spreads like a virus and can damage brand reputation.
A major chunk of buyers wants genuine buying experience rather than cheap offers or
discounted prices. Amazon is a perfect example of a good marketing strategy where
customers get to see products based on personal preferences and browsing history.
To conclude, there are other tons of options to drive traffic and stand out from the crowd.
Big companies or brands should keep their existing customers satisfied along with attracting
new customers without compromising with product quality and brand integrity.
Parents should be held legally responsible for their children’s acts. What is your opinion?
Support it with personal examples.
Being a parent comes to a great sense of responsibilities towards the child. It is the duty of
every parent to discipline their children. Parents are their children’s first mentor, role model
or teacher so in my view, should be held legally responsible for their children’s acts. Under
the law, parents are entitled to monitor and educate their children on what is right and
wrong, individually or socially. But it is also a moral and human duty.
Parents should be aware of their children acts or actions. It is quite often that a child can
cause harm to someone whether intentionally or unintentionally, in that case, it should be
the responsibility of parent towards the other person. Even if the harm is accidental, the
consequences can vary from minor to serious. It costs a hefty amount to the victim like in
property damage or theft cases. If the child is minor or is not financially supported, then
parents are to be held liable to pay for their child’s act. For example, my brother
accidentally injured a classmate so my parents compensated the family with his medical
bills.
Some people are of the view that it is the child who should be held responsible for their own
acts or actions. Though we cannot expect parents to present with their child all day long but
it is they who have raised their children and infused them with good or bad moral ethics. So
for exercising improper supervision and bad control over their children, parents should be
held legally responsible, especially when they are not teaching good attitude to their
children and encouraging bad conduct. “Positive parenting” should be encouraged and
rewarded.

It is foolish to get married before getting higher education.” Agree or Disagree.

It is argued that whether a person should get married before getting higher education or
not. In this essay, I will present my viewpoint after weighing both sides.
Some experts are of the view that people should get a higher education first before getting
settled with marriage. One reason I sight could be a lack of finance or career stability. Young
people who have no savings or burdened by debt or graduates who are struggling with job
insecurity may not feel they are in a position to get married. Higher education offers good
future prospects and career options. Youngsters should spend a good time establishing
themselves before they get serious about marriage and handle responsibilities of marriage
and family is the thought of the people supporting this viewpoint.
There are other people who believe that a delayed marriage is directly linked to increasing
number of divorces. People who marry late in life find it more difficult to adjust with their
life partner than the people who marry early. By the late 30’s, one’s habits, preferences, and
lifestyle have been formed so they find it challenging to adjust with other person’s
perspective. Also in no way, marriage hinders someone’s dreams or higher aspirations in
life. In fact, some people believes that marriage proves to be a driving force in your personal
and professional life so you can always go for higher education after marriage.
To conclude, settling down is a never ending process so the decision to attain higher
education after or before marriage should be one’s own personal choice. Either way, it
should be a good option for your development, personally and professionally.

Talk about the pros/cons of this era as is full of daily inventions.

We are surrounded by many daily inventions. From searching nearby hang out a place to
saving our pictures on cloud technological inventions do enrich our lives. There are both
pros and cons of these daily inventions. In this essay, I will layout both advantages and
disadvantages of daily inventions to human life.
Firstly, the technological invention has shaped our lives in every possible way we can think
of. The Internet is full of tons of information which can be retrieved in a click. The advanced
farming tools have helped farmers in increasing productivity and greatly reduced their
workload. Youth can’t think of spending one day without smartphones and tablets. The
advancement in medical fields has improved life expectancy and minuscule our daily life
problems.
These stats clearly describes how daily inventions has enriched human life. Thus, it can be
concluded that daily inventions have played a pivotal role in making human life more
efficient.
Even though technological inventions has made our life more efficient, yet it could be a bad
thing. We have started more of a robotic life. People now are spending more time in front of
computers or using smartphones. We prefer chatting hours on social media with a stranger
rather than talking to one sitting next to us. It has destroyed our social life. We now spend
less time with our family which has created an imbalance in family life. Everything comes
with unpleasant consequences, and these are some of the cons to daily inventions that we
have to bear.
After analysing both pros and cons of daily inventions in this era I can conclude, daily
inventions has played a pivotal role in making human life more efficient. Though, there are
few cons which can be dealt upon in the future and steps taken to remedy them.
People spend too much time at work to the extent that they hardly have time for their
personal life. It affects their personal life negatively. This topic generates a lot of
discussions and invites viable views from people.
In today’s world of evolving technology and global economy, we, as human beings are
required to have the knowledge and skills to adapt to the fast changing workplace and the
world. Every sphere of our life has been enhanced by technology. And it is important that
we should learn new standards and technologies in order to be successful in our career and
achieve financial independence.
We are living in the 21st century and everyone wants to get higher living standards, give
better future to their children and ameliorate resources to interact with a global society. To
make a prominent place in the society and for successful professional life, people work hard
and spend too much at work in result to compromise their personal family life. And to no
surprise, most of the people are very well aware that they are spending too much time at
work.
The theory of work/life balance is essential here. This theory requires to create a balance
between work (career, goals) and life (family, health, pleasure). It does not mean you should
devote majority or half of your time to personal space, but to spare some time for personal
life too. The overtime spend at workplace leads to exhaustion, stress, nervousness and
lifestyle diseases. Some organization conducts workshops and seminars on life skills
education to improve all aspects of their employee’s life like health, relationship, personal
life.
To conclude, in the run to make our lives better, people are compromising with their
personal life. Ironically, people want to succeed in their professional life to spend some time
with their family members.

If Voting Is Compulsory In A Democratic Society, What Conclusions Can We Draw About

Nature Of Democracy?

MODEL ESSAY: (ARGUMENTS FOR)

The topic of compulsory voting in a democratic society as prevalent in over twenty nations is
undeniably a controversial topic. Under the mandatory voting system, the eligible citizens,
often starting at age 18 register for and participate in the democratic election of
representatives. While there are many who disagree with the notion of compulsory voting, I
am in favor of it.
The practice of compulsory voting results in higher voter turnout and produce governments
with more stability, legitimacy and a genuine mandate to govern. The most beneficial aspect
of it is an informed citizen, an enhanced caliber of representatives and better decisions. The
system as a whole not only benefits offices and also benefits all individuals.
For instance, one of the most well-known compulsory voting systems is in Australia. Prior to
the 1924 compulsory voting law, the voter turnout was as low as 47% which soon jumped to
between 91% and 96%. Some people perceived advantages to compulsory voting are the
stimulation of broader interest politics, as a sort of civic education and political stimulation,
which creates a better-informed population. In Australis, the voters who do not turn up
could face a moderate fine while, in some countries like Belgium, the voters who don’t turn
up could face prosecution or harsh punitive action.
In a nutshell, it can be said that mandatory voting system in a democratic society is
beneficial, however, its implication in a friendly manner is of vital importance. Like
compulsory education, voting should also be made mandatory for a democracy to be a
democracy.
MODEL ESSAY: (ARGUMENTS AGAINST)
Democratic societies elect holders of high office by voting. Where some suggest that it is the
duty of citizens to participate in decision making, other believe that it is undemocratic to
force people to vote. Furthermore, compulsory voting may infringe other rights. I am
against this notion and will further present my viewpoint in this essay.
The government cannot force or threaten citizens with fines to cast their vote. Instead of
seeing voting as a civic duty, rather see it a civic right. While citizens may exercise their civil
rights they are not compelled to. For instance, most Christadelphians believe that they
should not participate in political events. Forcing them to vote ostensibly denies them their
freedom of religious practice. So enforcing compulsory voting system may infringe citizens
of their liberty and other rights.
Another argument against compulsory voting is that voters often vote for candidates they
have no knowledge of, simply to fulfil legal requirements. For instance, Brazil has one of the
most well-known compulsory voting systems but resentment among citizens against this
mandatory step has increased from 43% in 2008 to 61% in 2014. Also, there is no evidence
to suggest a change in government spending patterns or electoral outcomes in countries
where compulsory voting is enforced.
In nutshell, no study suggests that the populations of Belgium or Australia for instance,
where compulsory voting has long existed, are better informed and more politically aware
than the populations of New Zealand, France, Canada or the Scandinavian countries, where
voting has never been compulsory.
Some people think that students benefit from going to private secondary schools. Others,
however, feel that private secondary schools can have a negative effect on society as a
whole. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

A school is often analysed on the quality of its resources, the performance by its students,
the background of individual students and its governing body. When given a choice, every
parent must be willing to choose the best performing school for their child.
When parents get their child enrol in a private secondary school, they assume to provide
their child with higher quality resources in the form of teachers, teaching methods, and
materials. They expect their child to get a learning environment with same or higher socio-
economic status children. Students from private secondary schools tend to perform better
in academic exams and competitions. In fact, private schools have better teachers, provide a
disciplinary climate to students and have fewer resource shortages. And this made people
get the view that students benefit from going to private secondary schools.
There are some who feel that private secondary schools can have a negative effect on
society as a whole as parents seeking admission for their child in these schools are willing to
pay more to secure the better future for their kids. They argue that the private schooling
system reinforces inequities in educational opportunities and promote commercialization of
education.
I believe when public schools get the same status as of private schools and attract the
similar stream of students, the marathon to get admission in private secondary schools will
fade away. In short, there is no evidence to suggest that private secondary schools raise the
level of student’s performance without the effort being made by the student itself.

The food travels thousands of miles from farm to consumer. Some people think it would
be better to our environment and economy if people only ate local produced food. What
extent do the advantages outweigh disadvantages?

The food produced near the consumer is generally referred to as ‘local produced food’.
Many people equate ‘local food’ to fresh, healthy and produced in an environment-friendly
way. Having locally grown food has more of advantages than disadvantages for the
consumer, economy, environment and the community.
The food system has consolidated over the past many years. The food now travels over the
greater distances but the expert’s sight its negative impact on the environment and on the
health of the people. Due to extra packaging and refrigerate trucking distribution system, it
pollutes the environment and additionally increased the risk for food safety problems. The
chances of food contamination increase greatly as more the distance between the grower
and the consumer.
In global industrial food system, the food travels thousands of miles from farm to consumer.
This system relies heavily on centralized transportation and packaging system which are
often at a very long distance from the consumer. While the food was grown and consumed
locally adopts a shorter distribution system and it cuts out the extra cost of processing,
packaging, transport, and middlemen. If people ate ‘locally produced food’, it will not only
benefit the economy by employing local farmers and also lowers the cost of food in the local
market. By purchasing ‘local produced food’, people help and support small farmers and
merchandise.
Indeed, locally grown food is a lot more fresh and healthy than the food coming from miles.
It guarantees the consumer with intact nutritional value and better flavors as the food has
directly come from farm to your plate, therefore, loses fewer nutrients and less wastage. To
conclude, I believe that the advantages of having locally grown food outweigh the
disadvantages.

The only effective way to deal with unemployment is to introduce rapid urbanization.
How far you agree?
Although urbanization is the major impetus behind economic growth and development, I
doubt implication of rapid urbanization for employment. There is increasing concern about
the problem of unemployment, especially in the developing countries. I don’t agree with the
view that rapid urbanization is the only effective way to deal with unemployment.
In developing nations, for example, Nigeria, most parts of the population lived from the
primary occupations of farming, fishing, poultry farming etc and rapid urbanization will
cause these people to move to urban cities. The supply of labor will increase the demand,
thus causing joblessness.
Rapid urbanization will also connote people from practicing farming or adopting agriculture
as a profession. The introduction of rapid urbanization will majorly hit agriculture sector.
The youths will abandon it in search of white-collar jobs and for the higher standard of living
in urban cities. Our ancestors have found a variety of job opportunities in rural areas but
urbanization will force the people to move to cities. The economic analysts believe that
urbanization is the root cause for increasing rate of unemployment in developing nations.
One such example is Nigeria.
The outcomes from various surveys also indicate that the unemployment is significantly
higher in urban cities than in rural areas as rural people are usually engaged in self-
employment. In conclusion, I believe urbanization alone cannot be the explanation as for
unemployment. The need is to employ people effectively in the rural sector than to
introduce rapid urbanization.
Working and living abroad helps us to know other cultures well. How far you think
working abroad has good or bad impacts on our cultural lives?

The individuals working and living abroad realizes the importance of knowing about the
cultural differences that surround them. And to know and relate to other’s culture well, one
needs to be well versed with one’s own culture and values. I believe working abroad has a
more good impact on our cultural lives than bad.
The awareness of differences in culture is important for us and especially for individuals
working and living away from their home country. There are many cultural differences
surrounding those people. For example, in most of the countries, shaking the head in a
horizontal direction implies NO while in India it means YES. Laughing signifies happiness
universally but in Japan, it indicates a sense of confusion, in secureness, and
embarrassment. So to learn much about such differences, one need to be aware of the
culture of people surrounding them. Consciously or unconsciously our culture is part of our
daily life and living around people with such diverse background increases our knowledge
about ourselves like beliefs, body language, communication style or other characteristics
with which we see the outside world.
The world is diverse and I think more exposure to such experiences improves one’s own
cultural life. By interacting with those people around us we can learn new learning or new
norms. Learning about other’s experiences, we get a chance to see the things with a
different perspective and it opens up a whole new world in front of us. It also saves us from
the empathy of ‘culture shock’. On the whole, working and living abroad will make up the
difference of knowing and living other culture. It benefits include the discovery of yourself
and more tolerance towards others.

Education is the biggest barrier in my learning – Einstein. What do you mean by this? And
do you think Einstein was correct in saying that?

Today’s education system is taking out the beauty from learning. Einstein famous saying
“Education is the biggest barrier to my learning” perfectly describes this thing. I firmly
believe in what Einstein has said. Education in schools is demolishing creativity and thus
putting a barrier in learning.
Education system teaches every student the same way and taking away the exceptional
qualities of some children. Albert Einstein resented the school’s regimen and teaching
method. He believes that the spirit of learning and creative thought was lost in strict rote
learning.
Learning is not just to memorize concepts, give exams and score good grades, in fact, to
learn is to open one’s mind and expand the horizon. To see the world in front of you with a
whole new perspective is what a creative mind does. We have lost our capacity for creation
because our education system doesn’t stimulate innovation and creativity.
A kid always asks questions like “Why sky is blue?”, “Why does February have 28/29 days?”
and “Are we alone in this universe?” — Questions that once seems stupid but hard to
answer by a wise man. Learning tells the kids to stop asking questions and go with the flow
of this world. Learning makes the children live in a rotten environment.
To conclude, Albert Einstein learned that education limits the mind and formal education
confines creativity and ability to question the world. At the end, emphasis must be given to
on the child’s logical and critical thinking.

Some people think women should be given equal chances to work and excel in their
careers. Others believe that a woman’s role should be limited to taking care of the house
and children. Which opinion do you agree with and why? Include specific details and
examples to support your choice.

In this modern era, Women deserves the right to equal chances to work and employment
opportunities as men and it has been recognized virtually in many societies Worldwide. But
there are still many societies where women’s role is confined to taking care of the house
and children. I support equal opportunity for women to work and excel in their career and
disregard any discrimination against women in the field of employment.
Women are now business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, astronauts. Every day with their
passion for work and excellence, changing the rules of success. Earlier the labour of wives
was supposed to belong to husband and families but now it is assumed that women as a
community would benefit from the strength of their work, career and paid employment.
Some experts also believe there is a direct relationship between economic development and
women’s empowerment. Given equal chance to succeed, women can perform any task and
excel in all fields. For example, Dr. Valentina Tereshkova was the first female to go into
space.
There exists a paradoxical situation in our society which treats women sometimes as
Goddess and at other times merely as a slave. Women are meant to take care of children,
family members which are often unpaid. Such barriers are preventing women to excel in the
professional field. The intelligence and talent are uniform and does not discriminate based
on caste, region, colour, and gender. It is unfortunate that some people still consider the
birth of a girl’s child as unfortunate. To conclude, eliminating discrimination and ensuring
fairness at workplace especially for pregnant and breastfeeding workers is the core for
economic development and progress.
There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the
traditional music of a country more important than the International music that is heard
everywhere nowadays?

The famous quote “Medicine heals the body, Music heals the soul” perfectly describes the
importance of music in our everyday life. Music is a great therapy that helps overcome
emotional, social, intellectual and physical handicaps. It connects people in ways that no
other medium can. Moreover, it drives our emotions and thoughts to the higher level. Music
is any form benefits us in amazing ways.
The world is full of diverse music and cultures from different communities. Though there is
no specific type of music, still some of the popular music types include Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock,
Blues, Country, R&B, Folk, and Fusion. Traditional music like folk songs and country dance
has the history of many generations. The modern debate over the importance of traditional
music of a country than the International music is ongoing. I believe that traditional music
has its deep roots in the culture and history of a community and to remain connected to its
roots, one needs to be aware of the traditional music.
The young generation is losing their interest in traditional songs and music probably
because of lack of high beats and bass. They are more connected with international music
and their day remains incomplete without listening to one or two international tracks. There
get together or party remains dull and boring without hip hop beats and rap songs. The
traditional music eventually become diluted by pop culture. The loss of cultural identity is
the reason why many people feel traditional music should be encouraged more and bring to
the forefront.
In all, music should be healing and inspiring, whether it’s traditional or international music.
People and government should promote traditional music because losing traditional music
could mean losing foundation of our culture.

Polygamy has increased widely in recent years. What solutions can you bring forward to
decrease this issue?

Polygamy — or more correctly polygyny is more popular than ever. The people practicing
polygamy i.e. co-wives sharing one man has gained momentum in recent years. After seeing
a positive trend in the rate of its acceptance, the experts predicted polygamy to be legalized
in the coming years. This practice needs to be addressed as soon as possible. I am laying out
some solutions to decrease this issue in this essay.
Why there is a spike in the practice of polygamy? One reason could be the popularity of
television shows like Sister Wives and Big Love. Both the shows documents the life of a
polygamist family. Such shows are introducing polygamy to the viewers as “modest
practice”. There is need to broadcast more show promoting ‘monogamy’ and its
advantages. The public awareness programs highlighting “higher risk for contracting STD to
a non-monogamous person”, domestic violence and increase in mental health problems
should be organized.
The debate and programs should be organized at college and universities level to know
youth’s view towards marriage and family building. The government role in building or
changing beliefs among youth is noteworthy. So the government should not promote social
bodies advocating religious fundamentalism and polyamory. And if any of the individuals
found to be practicing plural marriage, he should be charged with the violation of the civil
law. Some strict penalty should follow so he knows he is in violation of the law. To conclude,
the efforts should be made and laws are implemented soon to deaccelerate the practice of
polygamy.

The role of human cloning has accelerated rapidly. To what extent you think will it replace
the material things!

To date, no human being has been officially cloned, but the recent success of therapeutic
cloning in animals is accelerating the role of human cloning in near future. The concept of
human cloning has raised many controversies and remains hotly debatable topic due to the
taboo associated with it and laws prohibiting human cloning in virtually all parts of the
World. Where some people see the future, I believe it to be extremely unethical as it will
replace material things to a great extent.
The scientists have successfully cloned human embryos and have been theoretically seen to
clone humans. If legalized in the future, it has the potential for the illicit cloning of you and
purposely using it for devastating activities. Cloning someone’s favourite celebrity or raising
the dead will a regular thing. It is speculated that some might use clones for creating unrest
in society and for criminal and terrorist activities. The uniqueness out of sexual reproduction
will be lost and many of human beings will choose reproductive cloning.
Every country will then employ more of human clones in the defence services. The evolution
and success of humankind lie in the genetic and cultural diversity. Though “Therapeutic
Cloning” is successful in obtaining remedies for many genetic diseases but human’s
individuality and soul will be lost if cloning continues to develop.
To conclude, cloning is speculated to be a harmful progress. As we might have seen in some
sci-fi films, human cloning will shake the foundation of our civilization and will be the first
step towards the destruction of human beings.
Some people think that teachers should be responsible for teaching students to judge
what is right and wrong so that they can behave well. Others say that teachers should
only teach students academic subjects. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

We, as humans cannot live in a civilized society without the sense of moral ethics and
restraints. This sense comes from deep seated beliefs about what is right and wrong. Some
people carry the view that teachers should be responsible for teaching moral responsibilities
to students. Although some argue that schools are meant to teach academic subjects only.
Each view holds its own validity.
A student spends nearly 5 to 7 hours in schools but teaching everything is a nearly
impossible task. It is incorrect to believe that teachers can teach all the life lessons to their
students in school. The teachers and educators create a learning environment to impart
academic knowledge to their students. The people with good academic scores are less likely
to engage in criminal activities and substance abuse. So academic achievement is important
to develop responsible and active people in society. With this view, teachers should only
teach students academic subjects and leave rest to parents who are the primary moral
educators of their children. Parents are responsible for instilling good and respectful
behaviors in the children.
The idea in the support of former view is that teachers have very important role in the
moral development of their students. Teachers and educators are responsible for the overall
education of children under their care and should ensure positive learning environment
possible. They should teach character qualities and foster civic virtues such as responsibility,
respect for the law, for self and for others in their students. These will ultimately help them
judge what is right and what is wrong.
To conclude, teachers have the right and responsibility of a parent of the students under
their care. But it does not deprive them of their responsibility and duties toward their own
child. Therefore, both parents and teachers should work together for child’s comprehensive
development.

Some developing countries invite large multinational companies to open offices and
factories in order to help their economy. However, others feel that foreign companies
should be shut out and instead the government should help the local companies to
contribute to the economic growth. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Some experts are of the view that multinational companies promote growth and trade in
the hosting country. There are some who feel that the government should not promote
foreign companies and instead help the local companies. This essay disagrees with this view
to a great extent because the upsides are the influx of foreign capital and heavy investment
that multinational companies bring into developing countries.
In general, multinational companies operate in several countries. In the recent time, many
developed countries refuse to part their GDP with developing countries and assist them.
And here comes large multinational companies that bridge this gap of foreign investment
requirement in the developing economies. The influx of foreign currency by the large
multinational companies create an environment of jobs and opportunities for the
developing countries.
Another important reason to support multinational companies is that they bring in latest
and advanced technology to the developing countries. They also upgrade the working class
with the required skills and technical knowledge to operate new equipment and machinery.
It also enables the working section of the developing country to set up new ventures
requiring high sophisticated technology. Multinational Corporations could invest hugely that
will ultimately boost infrastructure and industrial growth. For example, many American
companies are expanding and investing billions in foreign direct investment in China.
In view of above, I can conclude that like domestic investment, large multinational
companies through foreign investment help revive the economy. They have a direct benefit
on the income and employment in a country.

People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new
experiences, career preparation, or to increase knowledge). Why do you think people
attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Education opens up a door of opportunities for its seeker. Apart from seeking knowledge,
there are a variety of reasons for which people attend college or university. For some
college is just high school continued while for some, it is a way to gain skills and experience.
Although it is difficult to consider all of them here, I have listed 3 reasons for which I think
people attend college or university.
One primary reason is the option to explore subjects. In high school, the subjects are taught
in a shallow manner. College or university offers major in subjects that interest students or
might have studied in high school so the students get the opportunity to explore the
subjects in greater depth than they did in high school.
The second reason is to help improve the community. Modern humans live in communities.
Going to college or university help the students to learn about laws and resources that can
bring a difference in the community. The opportunity to serve as a role model for other
people in the community gives people the impulsive urge to join college.
An equally important reason why people choose to attend college or university is that a
college degree is considered basic and necessary education these days. The studies show
that a bachelor degree is considered a foremost requirement to get a job. To conclude,
college and university are much more than the reasons I have listed.
