ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Vineyard Contaminate Threat December 2017
ArcGIS Application, Niagara College, Niagara-on-The-Lake, Ontario
 ArcMAP 10.5 was utilized to determine the extent to which contaminates produced as a
product of wine can harm local waterways.
 A buffer was run on ground water streams in the Niagara Peninsula with a set radius.
 A second buffer was run on several vineyards within the region, the buffer size dependent
on type of wine produced.
 Wine buffers were merged and overlaid with the stream buffer to determine the
waterways at risk.
Lake Erie Algal Bloom Research Project April 2017
Advanced Remote Sensing, Brock University, St. Catharines Ontario
 Worked in a team to complete a study of Lake Erie algal blooms using publicly available
remote sensing data.
 Determined sources of contaminates entering Lake Erie and potential solutions to
contaminates.
 Identified trends of algae blooms data over time using historical data.
 Using historical and remote sensing data, determine a theory for future conditions that
may result in years with more severe algae blooms.
Waste Audit, Group Project April 2017
Advanced Geo Chemistry, Brock University, St. Catharines Ontario
 Collected samples from locations to obtain a representation of daily waste generated.
 Created a classification system to best identify correctly discarded waste.
 Compared obtained sample data to that of previous official audits.
 Identified key factors that resulted in specific classification breakdown.
 Listed potential methods that could be implemented to improve the waste distribution
into correct categories.
Watershed Analysis April 2017
Watershed Study and Assessment, Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario
 Over a period of three months, the class collected water samples and tested water quality
in eight locations within the Twelve Mile Creek watershed.
 Used collected water quality data and samples to determine the conditions within the
Twelve Mile Creek tributaries and changes that occur over distances.
 Compared conditions between tributaries and the effects of their surrounding on the water
quality.
 Attempted to predict future changes to Twelve Mile Creek as urbanization within the
watershed continues.
