National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is an autonomous body under the aegis of Department of
Science & Technology, Government of India. NABL provides laboratory accreditation services to laboratories that are performing tests /
calibrations in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and ISO 15189:2007 for medical laboratories.
Food Safety Hazard is a biological [pathogenic microorganisms], chemical [pesticides, chemicals etc.] or physical [metal, glass etc.] agent that
is reasonably likely to cause illness or injury in the absence of its control.
BRC Global Standard – Food (issue-6), Developed by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), a UK trade
organization that represents the interests of UK retailers. This standard is particularly suitable for
companies supplying food products to UK retailers, regardless of the product or country of origin. In most
cases certification to this standard is a pre-condition for supplying to UK retailers
BRC-IOP Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials (BRCIoP) (Issue-3, & ready Issue-4,
effective from 1st July’2011) provides safety and quality guidance primarily for the producers of packaging
materials, in order to ensure the safety and quality of food products
ISO 22000 A management system designed to enable organizations to control food safety hazards along
the food chain in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of consumption.ISO 22000 is an international
standard that defines the requirements of a food safety management system covering all organizations in
the food chain from “farm to fork”.
FS 22000 / FSSC 22000 It’s a requirements comprising of ISO 22000, PAS 220 & some additional
FS 22000 requirements. FS 22000 has been recently approved by GFSI (Global food safety initiative) as one of the
FSCC 22000
management system.
HACCP The food business operators shall have identified any step in their activities which is critical to
ensure food safety and shall have developed, implemented, maintained and reviewed adequate safety
procedures, applying the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points [HACCP], including the
general principles of food hygiene, and where appropriate the relevant codes of practice and the food safety
legislation
AIB International Consolidated Standards for Inspection of Food Contact Packaging Facilities are statements
that represent key requirements that a facility must meet in order to keep the packaging materials in a
facility wholesome and safe. The Standards also reflect what an inspector would expect to see in a facility
that maintains a food-safe processing environment
FAMI-QS [Feed Additive and Premixture Quality System] code of practice bases itself on a Quality
Management System. The certificate guarantees the implementation of the requirements for feed hygiene
in animal nutrition as laid down in Regulation (EC) No. 183/2005
