I will graduate in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Special Education after
spending 16 years in the classroom as a Para Educator and substitute teacher. I have gained a great deal

ACTIVITIES
Working full time and taking a full load of credits has hampered my ability to participate within my
community like I once did. I was a religious education director/CCD teacher and youth group director
for many years at my church as well as several terms as Altar Society president. I was a 4-H Leader for 8
years, secretary/treasurer of the wrestling club for 14 years and served on the baseball board for many
years. In that time, I worked more concession stands than I could possibly count. Those experiences
were a model to my sons that community is important, and they often participated with my husband
and me. Now my sons are finishing up their graduate degrees and are discussing the things they hope to
get involved in.
I believe that helping the youth of our community is the best way to improve our community and
make it thrive. I also get great personal satisfaction knowing that I was contributing and making a
difference. I look forward to having more time to become more involved in my community, in a new
way, once my degree has been earned and I have time to offer.
