Mantras
practice of Singdongma. Firstly we take refuge by reciting the refuge mantra 21 times.
Afterwards we either do the mantra of Je Tsongkhapa or Guru Rinpoche 21 times,
strongly believing the Tsongkhapa/Guru Rinpoche is one with our Gurus. Since
Tsongkhapa and Guru Rinpoche have manifested in a Guru’s form, it will be easier to
identify them with our personal gurus. If we do not have a guru we can still recite their
mantras having firm faith in them as living Buddhas.
Then we proceed to do a short prayer to the fierce Goddess Singdongma who is a fierce
manifestation of Green Tara arisen to dispel magic, spirits and obstacles. The prayer
and mantra are as follows:
Mantra:
AH KHA SAMA-RANZA SHANDA-RASA MARAYA PHET
(Recite 21x,108x or more per day)
Lion-faced Dakini!
Because of the force and power of the recitation of Your Mantra,
Let enemies who torment us teachers, pupils and attendants,
hindering spirits who harm us, obstructive conditions, and in short,
every enduring inauspiciousness, be turned back!
Host of blazing wrathful females!
Smash into dust-motes the body and speech
Of all the nature of hindering foes,
And release their consciousness in Dharma-Dhatu!
In Sanskrit: shasta saha srika prajna paramita (The Essence of the 100,000 Verses of the
Perfection of Wisdom Gone Beyond)

of knowledge, encompassing the essence of the perfection of the wisdom gone beyond.
TADYATHA OM MUNI MUNI MAHA MUNI DHARME SAKA HA DHARME SHA SE NIRI
SARTHA KADYA SARI TRA ME DHARMA TADYATHA HRI SU HRI SMRITI JAYA BI JAYA DHA
DHA RINI PRAJNA SARE SVAHA (recite many times)
Reciting this mantra it is equivalent to reading the 100,000 verses of the perfection of the wisdom

Wisdom Gone Beyond)
Colophon:
Mantras given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Scribe unknown. Lightly edited by Gyalten Mindrol,
FPMT Education Department, February 2006. These mantras have not been checked against the
Tibetan.
These are the mantras of Prajnaparamita, three volumes, 20,000 stanzas, all three lengths.
When there is no time to recite all the text, one can just do the mantras. In Singapore some years
ago, one Indonesian man whose business was going down did this and his business improved.
So this gives another method for sick people and business people for the works of this life.
Translator’s Motivation
To free the numberless hell beings, to free numberless hungry ghosts, to free numberless
animals, to free numberless human beings, to free numberless asuras, to free numberless suras
from the suffering causes and bring them to enlightenment, to relieve the poverty of sentient
beings and to achieve the needs of the teachings of the Buddha, the needs of the holy beings,
Sangha, to spread the Dharma, therefore, I am going to translate the methods to relieve the
poverty of sentient beings, Norbu Sangpo Zung, the mantra. ‘Zung’ means unforgettable wisdom,
to abandon non-virtue and abide in virtue. (That is one meaning of ‘zung’ I've seen. The
word ‘zung’ is used many times; in the title here it means ‘mantra’).
At one time I heard like this. The Destroyer Qualified Gone Beyond One was abiding in Sravasti,
the park of the king's son,1 Kunga Rawa of Gonme Sejin, a benefactor of the Buddha. This was a
park with a temple containing shelves holding holy texts and holy objects. Then the son of Norbu
Sangpo, who is the great leader of the host of harm-givers [nod jin] went to the place where the
Destroyer Qualified Gone Beyond One was. He prostrated with his head at the feet of the
Buddha, Destroyer Qualified Gone Beyond One, and after sitting in one direction, the son of
Norbu Sangpo, the great leader of the host of harm-givers, explained in this way to the Buddha,
Destroyer Qualified Gone Beyond One:
Pure One, virtue beggars or female virtue beggars,2 males nearing virtue or female nearing
virtue,3 if any of them recites this heart mantra three times every day, I will always follow that
person. I will provide all the needs of that being. I will even look for their food, clothing, precious
jewels, gold, possessions, grains, silver/money. I will complete all the purposes of that living
being. I will let all sentient beings be under the control of that being. I will complete all the various
activities of that being in that moment, except for those engaged in the sexual act.”
By reciting this seven times, success will be achieved. This ceremony is like this: On the 15th of
the waxing moon, clean one's own body, wear clean clothing or new clothing, three times offer
smoke with the agaro,4 and if you recite 7,000 times this mantra, you will find gold.5
Translator’s Dedication
Due to the merits of having made this Norbu Zangpo Zung available in English, and the mantra
Norbu Sangpo Zung, may this result in the greatest benefit to all sentient beings. May anyone
who, just by hearing this mantra or seeing this mantra — even merely touching this text or
keeping it — achieve all the happiness that they are wishing for instantly, including all the wealth
they are looking for. May all the wealth they receive and any happiness they achieve cause them
to realize renunciation of samsara, bodhicitta, and right view in this very lifetime as quickly as
possible. May they train their mind in the two stages of highest tantra on the basis of only
pleasing one's own Guru, without displeasing for one second, and may they achieve the unified
state of Vajradhara in this very lifetime. May each person who practices this help so many other
sentient beings to be relieved from poverty, and give wealth. May all that wealth cause them to
generate the good heart in their lives, achieve full enlightenment — complete awakening, in their
minds.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche suggests that “you will find gold” means that gold is something very rare
and precious, so what it means is that you will have success finding the wealth you are looking
for. [Return to text]
These twelve holy names of the Great Glorified Female Being, anyone – bhikshus (virtue
beggar), bhikshunis (female virtue beggars), upasakas (male nearing virtue), and upasikas
(female nearing virtue) – and none other than those – who knows of this, keeps this text, reads it,
writes it, leads others in writing it; this one will eliminate poverty and will become wealthy.
Then, all the assembly of yakshas (jungpo) assented saying, “May it be so.”
Then, the Bhagavan proclaimed, “The twelve holy names of the Great Glorified Female Being are
as follows:”
Mantra
For anyone who recites this three times,1 all opposing forces will perish and you will become the
fortunate one. You will have good fortune and you will have unceasing wealth. When you recite
this and then go to see someone, that person will regard you as his/her child, will be happy, and
will do exactly as he/she is asked.
If you recite this unceasingly, even if Brahma and the Brahmins do violent activities to bring harm,
you won’t be affected. It also becomes as if having made offering to many buddhas. The
Bhagavan has proclaimed it like that.
Then the Bodhisattva Compassionate Eye Looking One Endowed with Qualities rejoiced and
highly praised the teaching of the Bhagavan.2

This practice is for overcoming financial difficulties, especially if someone is causing you
problems, but also to empower financial endeavors that are dependent on others to bring
success. It can be given to anybody who has difficulties in their life, who is having great difficulties
finding a job and money, has a lot of debts, and is unable to pay. Doing this practice is one
method, one solution. This practice could help.

From Lama Zopa Rinpoche: “Once you have the idea of how this teaching happened and the
benefits, when you do the recitation, you do not have to recite the whole sutra. Just recite the
main teaching – the twelve holy names of the Great Glorified Female One and the
mantras.” [Return to text]

The Mantra Called Sublime One Extremely Pacifying All Hatred, [posted Jan 2010]
Completely
Rinpoche gave the following mantra to a nun who had an angry boss. Rinpoche gave her
the mantra to pacify the boss’s anger and dislike toward her.
Visualize Manjushri.
CHOM DÄN DÄ DE ZHIN SHEG PA DRA CHOM PA YANG DAG PAR DZOG PÄI SANG GYÄ
KÜN TU ZIG LA CHHAG TSHÄL LO
TADYATHA DIRI TISHTA TASKARA BADUSI MACHALA MACHALA SVAHA (Recite 7x)
If you make requests to Arya Manjushri, then all human beings will have affectionate love toward
you.
Colophon:
Suggested by Lama Zopa Rinpoche to Ven. Lhundrup Drolma at Deer Park on 13 July 2003.
This was some advice given to one nun at Deer Park because her boss in the jail where she
works disliked her advice to one prisoner who had been having suicidal thoughts. Rinpoche gave
this mantra to her to pacify the boss’s anger and dislike toward her, and also to use if the
prisoners were to get angry at her.
This mantra can also be used when there are problems in families, for people who are angry at
you, in your work or in organizations, anywhere. Whenever you encounter problems, you can use
this to change people’s minds and make them have affectionate love toward you.

Please do this especially when you have financial difficulties with projects.
If you read the Golden Light Sutra, it becomes healing for all the sick people in the city where you
are living. It stops violence, brings peace and happiness to the country, brings protection from
others to the country, from harm, war, terrorist attacks, and so forth. It gives power to the leader
of the country. It also directs your life towards enlightenment.
HA HA HI HI!
I also suggest that you write out the Diamond Cutter Sutra, the Arya Sanghata Sutra, or the Sutra
of Golden Light, or one after another. This creates unbelievable merit.
My dearest Rachel,
I am very happy that you are very happy and that the card I sent you brought you so much
happiness. Now all the companies that make the cards are so meaningful, because they are
making some sentient being in the corner of the world happy.
I am very happy to hear that you immediately rushed to read the sutras. That made me so
extremely happy. That means you are truly a very devoted student, maybe not quite truly existent.
Please keep reading the sutras, even one line or one page a day. It has so much meaning.
Your friend mentioned you called and had questions about the sutras (sorry, this was some time
ago. Sorry for the long delay in replying). I went through this as well, just like what you said, quite
a few times, thinking that there was something else. But, actually, when the Buddha is talking in
the sutras, that is the sutra.
Reading the sutras will help you so much. It is the easiest way to direct your life toward
enlightenment and toward enlightening all sentient beings, so it has so much benefit, even benefit
for your nose.
Take good care, with bodhicitta, as I am sure you will. Take care with emptiness.
With much love and prayers, and I hope to see you soon.
Lama Zopa
PS. One time I tried to call you, but the telephone had a lady speaking saying you were not there.
I think I tried to call six times to leave a message. I don’t know if it worked, as I was dialing
myself, so I’m not sure what was happening. Maybe you were in samadhi or off in another world
to liberate others.
