Session 1 – Intake
Session 2 – Intake Follow-up, Goal Clarification.
Session 3 –

Client Goals: Work on identifying and accepting thoughts and feelings without shutting down.
Develop and maintain healthy coping skills. Increase Empathy. Explore sense of self and
identity.
Short Term Goals:
Develop the ability to verbally state her opinion/feelings/thoughts.
Identify and clarify own emotional and social needs.
Increasing ability to fulfill own needs.
Increase sense of personal empowerment.
Increase knowledge of healthy dependency and healthy independence.
Identify healthy ways to increase independence.
Identify and set new boundaries for self in key life relationships.
Increase awareness of boundaries and when they are violated.
Verbally identify, if possible, the source of depressed mood.
Discuss the nature of the relationship with deceased parents, reminiscing about time spent
together.
Discuss overreliance on significant other for support, direction, and meaning to life.
Begin to experience sadness in session while discussing the disappointment related to the
loss or pain from the past.
Replace negative and self-defeating self-talk with verbalization of realistic and positive
cognitive messages.
Verbalize hopeful and positive statements regarding the future.
Make positive statements regarding self and ability to cope with stresses of life.
Engage in physical and recreational activities that reflect increased energy and interest.
Participate in social contacts and initiate communication of needs and desires.
