Abstract
This project will made for the detection and find out the location of the
fault using MATLAB. This paper outlines the techniques and application
considerations for determining the location of a fault on overhead
transmission lines.
Introduction
A fault is any abnormal condition in a power system. The steady state
operating mode of a Power system is balanced 3-phase Ac. .However, due to
sudden external or internal changes in the system for example like lightning,
wind, natural disaster & human error., this condition is disrupted then the system
fails at one or more points or a conducting object comes into contact with a live
point (open circuit), a short circuit faults either L-L fault (line to line), L-G fault
(single line to ground) and 2L-G (double line to ground) fault occurs.

Statement of the problem
Fault is a flow of very high value of voltage or current above the normal
value. Due to this many electrical apparatus like transformer, generator,
transmission lines, and loads also for Human being get affected because of
overheating and insulation failure.
