MY AIRFORCE LIFE STORY

My life story is very simple. I came from a hardworking family, my father is just a
farmer and my mother is a housewife. They have 7 siblings; of which I am the
second child. We are from the rich city of Tabuk and weaving paradise of Kalinga.
Due to the hardship of life, we the sons and daughters of these two hardworking
individuals were very dedicated in reaching our own dream in life.

When I was in elementary, I have a very close cousin who always with me in
going to school because we were at the same class from grade 1 to 6.
One day, when we are walking home from school, we promised that when the time
comes we will be going on the same path, to become a Military Officer.

High school is a life full of temptations. When I was in high school, I love to
dance, I didn’t focus on my studies. Before we graduated in high school my cousin
informed me about the entrance exam of Philippine military academy (PMA). We
tried the entrance exam but the result frustrated us. We decided to try it in Philippine
Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) and again we’ve been frustrated, the same
result, our name was not in the final list and the worst thing is we don’t know why.
Through this experience, I’d rather stop dreaming about that profession.

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy was the chosen profession, enrolled at

International School of Asia and the Pacific. My journey in college life was struggling.
There were times that I’d lost my interest in studies but I have to pursue this
profession. Upon graduation, I took up my review at Certified Public Accountant
Review (CPAR) at Sampaloc Manila. After the review, I feel that I’m not still prepared
and I don’t have yet enough confidence to take the board exam. I would prefer to
take a double review rather than to risk myself in the board exam. I took up my
second review at Nations Foremost Certified Public Accountant Review at Baguio
City and decided to take the board exam for the month of May.

In the middle of the review period starts my military career. I was at the
Professional Regulation Commission filing an application for board exam when my
girlfriend and her friends asking to accompany them in the examination center
because they were about to take the qualification exam of the Philippine Air force.
This exam reminds me of my childhood dream. The requirements that I’ve used in
the Professional Regulation Commission is the same as the requirement needed in
the qualifying exam. In this regards, I filed in the application of qualification exam
with the intention to enhance myself in a time pressure exam for the preparation of
the upcoming board exam.
Philippine Air Force Personnel Management Center texted me to go to Clark
airbase to undergo a physical fitness test. I was one of the lucky applicants who
passed the exam. I ignored the text message. On the following day, my girlfriend
sister called and congratulate me and asking about my plan, so I explain all my plans
that I don’t have any more interest in military life. She advises me to give at least a
last chance in my childhood dream. Many reasons and alibi were given to stop the
arguments but she still keeps on insisting, until such time that I feel ashamed. So I
follow her advice, to give last chance. I prayed to God, asking what will he give me a
sign if I should continue this military career. God answered my prayer, I managed to
balance my time in processing my application while taking my board exam.

A blessing from God when the result of the board exam was published as well
as the final list of the BMT Class 2017C was posted. It was the best gift from God.
During my thanksgiving all of my relatives even my parents were shocked when my
secret revealed that I will be joining a military training. I’ve explained to them that I
have a great expectation that my license and my knowledge in terms of Accounting
will contribute a lot in the Philippine Air Force organization because in all
organization it always involves money matters.

Military life where about to start. Tiredness, body pain, and exhaustion are
what you feel every day. Almost four months when I surpass those rigid training and
challenges and became a real soldier and a proud member of SANDIGMANLAYA
BMT CL 2017C. after our ten days’ academic break we were designated to undergo
Small Units Tactics Training (SUTT) to be conducted by the Special Operation Wing.
This training is very much different in that of the Basic Military Training School. This
is more on physical because this involves in combat operations. Eighteen kilos of
rucksack, worn out combat shoes, faded battle dress uniform and a lousy hat is what
you have running for almost fifteen kilometers every morning and afternoon. I’ve
experienced in here the life of a real soldier when we conducted a combat clearing at
Nasugbu Batangas.

God is really good. My expectation came true; I was assigned at Air Force
Finance Center, Wherein I can apply all my knowledge in terms of accounting and
expecting again that upon my stay in this unit, I’ll become a more efficient and
effective soldier of the Philippine Air Force. Beforehand, it was about to start our
training as an officer candidate and the only thing I have to face this challenges and
trials was the advice of Lt. Manuel, my former officer in charge, “In order to survive
the training just embrace the honor code or honor system and submit yourself to the
Lord”. And now I’m not that far enough in reaching my goal in life. I’m here at
Philippine Air Force Officer Candidate School struggling in facing all the challenges
in order to become a well disciplined and dedicated leader of the Philippine Air
Force.
