Blended Learning Lesson Plan

Lesson Title:
The Solar System
Objectives:
Students will be able to locate well known constellations and have the ability to know them in
order and see where they are.
Students will be able to create their own version of the solar system with planets in order and the
constellations.
State Standards:
4.E.3A.1 Develop and use models of Earth’s solar system to exemplify the location and order of
the planets as they orbit the Sun and the main composition (rock or gas) of the planets.
Context: I plan on teaching this because this is information that students should be able to help
recognize and have the ability to identify it. The lessons before this are lessons about the planets
and after this lesson is more about the earth and what makes up the earth.
Data: The students will be grouped based on their last ticket out the door assignment. The
students who have more knowledge in the topic will be paired up with the students who struggle.
This should allow students to get help from their peers
Materials: laptops, YouTube, google classroom, and a worksheet

Detailed paragraphs from here on down.

Procedures:
Introduction (10 minutes): While students are getting back from recess, I will have them
put all their belongings in the cubby. After they do this I will start to introduce what we are doing
and how it should work. I will then have them pull out their laptops and have them open up to
our google classroom page.

Teacher Directed (10 minutes): I will then section off all the students in groups so that
they can see who all is working with them. I will then ask if any students can name the planets in
order and tell me some of the well-known constellations. After this, we will play a quick game of
quizlet live to see how the students work together. This allows the students to have fun before
they really start working.
Collaborative (10 minutes): In this section, the groups will receive a worksheet of the
constellations and planets. This worksheet would be a map of the solar system that would allow
students to locate them. This will be more hands-on for the students within the groups, so I can
walk around and help will students can help each other if I am not available.

Independent Digital (10 minutes): While students are in this last section, they will be
allowed to work alone on their laptops. I will have posted a video from youtube that is a song
about the planets to help students memorize them in order. While in this independent time they
will be allowed to start planning for their projects and come up to me and ask for some help if
they need it.

Closure (10 minutes): Once the independent study time is up, I will then have students
put away all of their belongings for the class. I will then start to wrap everything up from that
days lesson and see if they had any questions while handing out their homework.

Rationale:
(Multimedia 1= App or website): I chose quizlet live because it involves all of the students and
allows them to have fun and want the feeling of winning. This will help support children in
learning based on the fact that it is hands on and gives students something to work forward to.
The matches aren’t that long as they can play multiply matches within a 10-minute period
