LANDING GEAR - INSTALLATION OF SQUAT SWITCHES WITH QUICK DISCONNECTS

1. Planning Information

A. Effectivity
(1) Learjet 60-002 and Subsequent.

B. Reason
(1) To ease replacement of the Main Landing Gear (MLG) squat switches.

C. Description
(1) This service bulletin gives instructions to install new MLG squat switches quick disconnects.

D. Compliance
(1) Optional - The aircraft owner/operator can make the decision to do this Service Bulletin.

NOTE: The left and right squat switches may be replaced separately or at the same time.

E. Approval
(1) The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the technical content in this publication
that has an effect on the airplane type design.
(2) The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has accepted the technical content in this publica-
tion that has an effect on the airplane type design.

2. Accomplishment Instructions

A. Gain Access
(1) Set battery switches off and disconnect aircraft batteries.

B. Modification of Aircraft
(1) On aircraft 60-002 thru 60-108, do the steps that follow:

NOTE: The following instructions are for the replacement of the left squat switch. Replace-
ment of the right squat switch is the same.

(a) Remove and destroy the squat switch. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 32.)
(b) Cut a 1.62 in. [4.11 cm.] dia. hole in the wing skin. (See Figure 1.)
1) Epoxy prime the bare metal edges. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 20.)
2) Install the grommet material around the perimeter of the hole. (Refer to Learjet Mainte-
nance Manual, Chapter 20.)
(c) Do the wiring changes that follow: (See Figure 2.)
1) Remove the existing wiring as shown.
2) Install the squat switch on the strut. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 32.)
3) Route the connector through the new hole in the wing skin.

NOTE: Install with slack along the length of the harness. Then add a 6.0 in. [15.24
cm] service loop near the connector to make sure the subsequent harness
assemblies will be long enough.

4) Install the vinyl tubing over the connector and slide it onto the harness.

NOTE: The vinyl tubing may be split lengthwise and wrapped around the connectors.

5) Connect the wire harness assembly to the squat switch harness assembly and slide the
vinyl tubing over the connectors.
6) Connect the aircraft wiring as shown.
7) Install the connectors to the existing wire bundles above the wing skin.
(2) On aircraft 60-109 and subsequent, do the steps that follow:

NOTE: The following instructions are for the replacement of the left squat switch. Replace-
ment of the right squat switch is the same.

(a) Remove and destroy the squat switch. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 32.)
(b) Do the wiring changes that follow: (See Figure 3.)
1) Remove the existing wiring as shown.
2) Install the squat switch on the strut. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual, Chapter 32.)

3) Route the connector through the existing hole in the wing skin. (See Figure 1.)

NOTE: Install with slack along the length of the harness. Then add a 6.0 in. [15.24
cm] service loop near the connector to ensure subsequent harness assem-
blies will be long enough.

4) Install the vinyl tubing over the connector and slide it onto the harness.

NOTE: The vinyl tubing may be split lengthwise and wrapped around the connectors.

5) Connect the wire harness assembly to the squat switch harness assembly and slide the
vinyl tubing over the connectors.
6) Connect the aircraft wiring as shown.
7) Install the connectors to existing wire bundles above the wing skin.

C. Functional Test/Operational Check


(1) Connect the aircraft batteries.
(2) Do the Adjustment/Test of the squat switch. (Refer to Learjet Maintenance Manual,
Chapter 32)

D. Return Aircraft to Airworthy Status

E. Compliance Response Form


(1) Complete the compliance response form.
(2) Send the compliance response form to Learjet Inc. as soon as possible.

F. Aircraft Maintenance Records


(1) Complete the Aircraft Maintenance Records.

NOTE: To complete the aircraft maintenance records, refer to FAR/CFR 43.9.

the aircraft that follow:

NOTE: Effective for aircraft 60-002 thru 60-128, not modified by SB 60-32-6 "Replacement of
Main Landing Gear Squat Switch".

Effective for aircraft 60-002 thru 60-128, modified by SB 60-32-15 "M60 Squat Switch
Restoration for use with Pratt and Whitney FADEC".

Effective for aircraft 60-129 and subsequent.
