The document discusses different types of hand winches and air winches, their components, specifications and safety precautions when using them.

Hand winches are used for general purpose pulling or lifting applications in industrial and marine settings. They come in brake and general purpose models.

Safety precautions when using hand winches include not overloading them, ensuring the load is correctly secured, keeping at least three wraps of rope on the drum, and making sure the structure can support the intended load.

safety and large hub diameters to assist in wire rope spooling and
extended winch rope life.
Nobles Rig-Mate Brake Winches
RIG-MATE brake winches can be used in general purpose pulling BRWHB270
or lifting applications. The automatic brake ensures the
suspension of the load in any position and the extra thick brake
disc, gear and pawls are fully enclosed for maximum protection.
Brake winches are finished in baked enamel paint and feature
gold passivated gears and axles for extra corrosion protection.
Nobles Rig-Mate General Purpose Winches
RIG-MATE general purpose hand winches come in two sizes and
are zinc plated for superior corrosion protection. These hand
winches are for pulling applications only and should not be used
for lifting. RIG-MATE general purpose winches make an ideal boat
trailer winch and the larger capacity winch has a dual drive to
ensure uniform torque for extra stability and power. The larger
winch has a three position pawl (forward, reverse or neutral) and
can handle a variety of trailer boats while the smaller winch has a
two position pawl (forward and reverse only) and is ideal for small

craft such as jet skis and tinnies.

WARNING
• Read and understand operating instructions before using these
winches.
• Do not use the general purpose hand winches for lifting applications.
• Never lift or pull more than the rated capacities of the winches.
• Ensure wire ropes or straps are correctly secured before using these
winches.
• Never apply a load on the winch with the wire rope fully extended,
always ensure there is at least three full wraps of wire rope on the
drum at all times.
• Always ensure the winch is fastened securely to the structure and
that the structure is capable of withstanding the intended load
before operating the winch.
• Never put oil or grease on the braking mechanism of the brake BRWDD500
winch.

Available in 3 tonne to 50 tonne
Like the HE-50A series of chain block the H-50A is also compact
and lightweight. The H-50A also features Nitchi’s legendary
durability and toughness. Double cover protection, load chain,
load brake, reduction gear, hooks and load sheave characteristics
are also consistent with the HE-50A series.
Two Independent pawls
Failure of a pawl is very rare, but if one pawl should fail, the
H-50A has a second backup pawl that will hold a load securely
and prevent the dangerous free falling of the load.
Overload Protection
Nitchi overload protection is factory set to 125% of the WLL and
is achieved by using a special friction clutch disc hub on the lever
hoist and a special friction clutch hand wheel on the chain hoist.
The hoist will not lift the load if the load is in excess of 125% of
the WLL but the brake will continue to function normally. The
hoist will resume normal operation when the load is reduced to
less than 125% of the WLL.
Bearing
The latest technology in bearing efficiency for chain blocks has led

bearings, long wearing special hardened steel bushings and ultra

modern carbon bushings. The bearing supported pinion shaft is a

totally new concept in bearing efficiency for chain blocks. The
carbon bushings and the precision needle bearings ensure a
super-smooth operation and eliminate the possibility of pinion
shaft seizures.
Safety Link
A specially processed safety link joins the endless hand chain and
is designed to open slowly if the effort on the handchain is
causing the chain block to be overloaded.

identification plate.
• Air and electric hoists should be inspected regularly.
3. Always check that the hook safety catches work properly and
replace missing or broken safety catches.
The regular pre-use check for power hoists is as follows:
4. Never operate a hoist if it is damaged or malfunctioning.
1. Ensure the identification plate is attached and that the WLL

NITCHI EC-4 WITH LOAD INDICATION
TO AS 1418.2

Stock Code: BNE9460TLI

The Nitchi EC-4 Electric Chain Hoist is now available with load
indication on hook suspended or electric trolley hoists. The
standard system provides clear indication of the load the hoist is
currently lifting and a secondary lighting system to advise when
the hoist is getting close to its maximum WLL.

Features of the load indication system:

• Stainless steel load cell
• 57mm LED display, IP 65 rated with external 4-20ma output
• BHPB FRCP-10 compliant
• LED load indication lights
1. Green constant to 85% of WLL
2. Amber flashes between 85% and 95% of WLL
3. Red flashes in excess of 95% of WLL
Set points for load indication lights can be adjusted as required.

Further options available include:

proof load testing. The motion cut will stop the hoist from lifting
but will allow the hoist to lower the load as the down circuit is not
affected.
Data Logging Unit can be added to the hoist. The Data Logging
Unit controls the electrical circuits of the hoist and the display and
can be plugged into a PC or laptop to enable control of the hoist
with computer software. Alternatively the data can be logged to a
memory card for transfer to a computer to analyse hoist operation
and usage data. The data logging unit can also control multiple
hoists if required and when fitted with a tri-colour display the load
on each hoist and a sum total of the load on both hoists can be
displayed.

minimum. The reduction gears are exclusively designed for extra
durability and are made of special alloy steel that is expertly and
precisely heat-treated for maximum strength.
Mechanical Brake
The very reliable mechanical brake works in cooperation with the
electromagnetic brake and holds suspended loads at any point.

CLK SERIES AIR HOIST
TO AS 1418.2

125kg to 500kg lifting capacity

The CLK Series is the smart choice for:
• Durability that delivers more uptime - With a FEM/ISO
mechanism classification of 1Am/M4 (ASME HST-5 rating of
A5), CLK Series hoists are duty-rated to go an incredible 800
full-load hours between overhauls.
• Lifting speed and precision control for enhanced ease of use -
Lifting speed of 13.1m/min for the 125 kg models and
9.8m/min for the 250 kg models is the best in its class.
Enhanced load positioning capabilities and an outstanding
combination of motor control and brake release make this
hoist ideal for precision applications.
• Best-in-the-industry quiet operation enhances safety and
decreases operator fatigue - Sound levels of just 75 dBA
make CLK Series hoists easy on operators, while also
minimizing the overall ambient noise of the work site.
• Highly efficient air motor saves money - For hoists in its class,
CLK Series gets the most performance from your compressed
air output. The CLK Series consumes only 0.9 m3/min of air
lifting rated load and less then 0.5 m3/min while lowering
load.

Continuous Heavy-Duty Applications

7790 Series Link Chain hoists are ARO’s most powerful
units. The larger motor and increased horsepower provide
greater operational speeds and productivity in the 1 tonne
single-fall and 2 tonne double fall ranges. A key advantage
of single fall operation is that both longer lifts and chain
storage become easier to manage. Built with the same Hook Mounted
high-quality construction as the 7700 Series, these hoists
also require fewer repairs with less down time.
