three laws of motion and uniform circular motion.
The learners shall be able to develop a written plan and
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
implement a “ Newton’s Olympics .“
The learners should be able to:
 Infer that circular motion requires the application of

constant force directed toward the center of the
circle.
At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:
1. describe the direction of motion for an object traveling
in a circle
I.OBJECTIVES 2. construct a free- body diagram for any given situation
in which an object is moving in a circle
3. recognize the importance of learning about uniform
circular motion

B. PROCEDURES
Let the learners recall their grade 8 lesson about Newton’s
Laws of Motion by asking:

- Group 2,4, and 6 will run on a circular track.(2
representatives per group)
- Ask the learners for any clarifications.
- Let the learners do the activity.
- Present to the learners the rubrics for the presentation.
-Let each group present their answers giving emphasis on
the following:
- In circular motion, the direction of the velocity
changes every point along the circular path. This change in
direction is an indication that the object is accelerating,
and the direction of acceleration is towards the center of
the circular path.
- Explain how to make a free body diagram in which an
EXPLAIN object is moving in a circle.
Discussing new concepts and
practicing skills #1
- An object moving in a circular path will have a constant
speed.
- It is continually changing direction.
- An object undergoing uniform circular motion is moving
with a constant speed.Nonetheless,it is accelerating due to
its change in direction. The direction of the acceleration is
inwards.

Ask:

Making generalizations about the uniform circular motion. The uniform circular motion
lesson happens due to a centripetal acceleration directing
towards the center.
EVALUATE - Learners will analyze the situation and answer the
question.
A brass ball with a mass of 120 grams is suspended
from a string that 60.0cm long. The ball is given a push and
it moves in a horizontal circle. The string is not nearly
horizontal. It forms an angle of just 22.6 degrees from the
vertical.
- Draw a free body diagram indicating the forces acting
on the ball.

- Explain why the force causing the circular motion is
