BTW 5.1.0.5400

Pre-Installation Notices

1. User must be logged on as administrator to install BTW. If non-administrative user is logged on and
starts install, and then inputs administrator password, BTW will not install correctly.
2. Remote installation of BTW is not allowed. Remote install does not provide sufficient privileges for
the unsigned driver install.
3. If the system is configured to share contacts between Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook,
Outlook Express will not be shown as one of the options for PIM Item Transfer for business cards.
4. Install Shield Developer Premier 10.5 is required to build the BTW Release.
5. When doing a clean install on Windows 98SE, you will need to use the inst.exe to install, not
setup.exe.
6. If end user stops the DFU process in the middle of the DFU upgrade, the BT device will stay in DFU
upgrade mode. This will prevent the user from using the BT mouse/keyboard and the user will need
to use wired mouse/keyboard in order to restart the DFU and complete upgrade process. You will
then be able to use Bluetooth mouse/keyboard again.
7. Prior to installing BTW: Open Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> Check box "Launch
folder windows in separate process". This will ensure that the task bar is always visible.
8. Following an upgrade installation, all local services and client application will require secure
authentication.

Post-Installation Notices

1. If the client is set for NAP service, the Bluetooth Network adapter will not show that it is
disconnected. Before using another Network access point, either reboot or manually renew the ip
address.
2. Need to press OK in Control Panel/Sounds for MIDI files to play through headset. This is because
Microsoft does not provide an API to set default MIDI device.
3. Volume level is set to maximum by default for Bluetooth Audio, once changed; it will retain its new
setting.
4. Headset security uses the security of any headset shortcuts created.
5. In order to see traces in SpyLite, you will need to logoff of user account and log back in.
6. Some platforms cannot display the XP panel due to security setting for internet zones. For these
platforms, the BT Neighborhood will switch to Classic View.

Create this registry entry:

DWORD HKCU\Software\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Debug\LogIPAddr = 0x7f000001
Reboot.

BTW 5.1 Enhancements:

• Hands Free Profile to provide HFP functions for VOIP applications like Skype.
• Integrate Skype APIs to use headset button presses to Answer/Terminate/Reject calls
