statement of the problem
Which competency is first aid has the lowest mean score for the
following groups:
1.1 Scout members;
1.2 Non-scout members?
Although students have, in general, some idea as to the whys and hows of
first aid, the amount of training is still critical to performing it properly, and
failing to properly operate may cause more harm to the persons being
treated.
The focus of the study is to determine and compare the awareness of Grade
10 scout members and non-scout members from Kalumpang National High
School (KNHS), San Roque National High School (SRNHS), and Sta. Elena
National High School (SEHS) on First Aid. The researchers will be giving out
one pre survey form to determine if they are scout members. The
respondents will be limited to 72 scout members and 72 non-scout members
for the assessment. The data collection, organization, and processing of data
are to be accomplished from October 2019 to December 2019.
PARTICIPANTS
The study will have a total of 144 participants from Kalumpang National High School
(KNHS), San Roque National High School (SRNHS), and Sta. Elena National High
School (SEHS). These will be further classified into two. The first 72 will be the active
members of either the BSP or GSP. They will be chosen according to the following
criteria: 1) they must be Grade 10 students of KNHS, SRNHS, or SEHS; 2) they should
be an officer in any of the two scouting organizations (BSP or GSP). The remaining 72
will be non-scout members and will be chosen according to the following criteria: 1)
they must be Grade 10 students of KNHS, SRNHS, or SEHS; 2) they aren’t members of
any of the two scouting organizations (BSP or GSP).
LOCALE
Teachers. The results of this study may be used to guide teachers in learning what
students are lacking in their first aid training.
Students. The study will show if the students have a sufficient amount of awareness on
first aid procedures, and the difference on that awareness between scout-members and
non-scout members.
Rescue Teams. The information that will be presented can allow rescue teams to gauge
what to expect on the case of an emergency or disaster that occurs within a school.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Community. The study will show the level of awareness of scout member
and non-scout member students in terms of first aid, and will inform if it is
insufficient, thus giving the community an opportunity to take action in the
form of programs, etc.
Future Researchers. The results of this study may be used as a reference for
knowing the effectivity of not just the first aid training of scouting regiments,
but the first aid training of educational establishments in general.
