Write an essay in 500-650 words on “What is your vision for Malaysia in 2050? What is your role to
achieve it?”

Times have changed and the world has evolved tremendously without cease.
Scouring pulse of world history, our world has undergone paradigm shift and
achieved a few momentous milestones. Our planet has developed from the era of
the Ancient Greek Philosophy to the Renaissance phase followed by Industrial
Revolution and Atomic Age until today’s technology and information. The
mushrooming of sophisticated digital devices has become a norm and widely used
among Homo sapiens from all walks of life. To keep pace with the meteoric
advancement of the world, Malaysia has to follow the footprint. We should pull
up our socks to modernise and develop our country so that she can emerge from
the chrysalis of Third World towards utopic kingdom. Embracing this ambitious
and enthusiastic call, we should start our urgent measures immediately to
achieve what we anticipate our Malaysia will be in the future instead of being
only all bark and no bite. I personally have a plethora of visions for my loving
homeland in 2050.

Nowadays, besides tons of certificates and outstanding academic results,

21st century skills play a paramount role for students to secure a job easily
after finishing their studies. I hope that Malaysia’s education system will be
restructured so that it fulfils the demand of adroit workforce. The core
syllabus must be focusing on incorporating critical thinking and problem solving
skill among students. We can actively involve in extracurricular activities such
as Robotics Cup Challenge or Young Innovators Challenges to hone our critical
thinking and problem solving skills.Teaching and learning sessions in class ought
to be less fact-based, but more on emphasising real world knowledge and
applications. Consequently, students can stand on their own two feet where they
can think critically and analytically about hindrances they faced in life and to
figure out solutions. To achieve this, we should always exclaim our ideas
regarding Malaysia’s education system courteously and in a correct way to the
Ministry of Education Malaysia so that the authorities can make a
transformation of the system.

Apart from that, I hope for a profound consolidated and cohesive

Malaysian society in 2050. Since independence, our ancestors has kept
reminding us to maintain and strengthen the united bonds between us since
united we stand, divided we fall. Yet, the amalgamation bond that has joined us
eons ago is gradually diminishing, and there is a wide gap formed between us
nowadays. Therefore, I hope that all Malaysians will have deep understanding
and magnanimous tolerance with each and another in 2050. Seedlings of
empathy, generosity and responsibility will be planted and grown up into big
trees in every Malaysian’s heart. We can still live under the same roof
harmoniously as we evolve into a more matured, knowledgeable and open-minded
society without being prejudiced towards others. Thus, I should involve
ourselves in community services as I can serve all Malaysians across diverse
backgrounds and belief, thus creating strong bonds and cultivating friendship
wholeheartedly with them. In school, I will try to influence my friends who have
prejudiced belief and ethnocentric personality to get rid of their narrow-
minded attitude and integrate with students from other races too.

Last but not least, I am looking forward to a more effective and accountable
Malaysia government in 2050. All Malaysians will be given a vital role to engage
with their local governments. They can express their ideas about the plan of
developing their residential area or the demand of more amenities Moreover, I
anticipate the whole Malaysia will practise the culture of zero tolerance for
bribery so that it demonstrates high integrity and trusted citizens.
Consequently, the government employees will perform their obligations well in
utter commitment and dedication. Hence, I need to encourage the grown-ups
around me to report those who bribe or accept bribe to Malaysian
Anticorruption Commission. (Furthermore, in 2050, I hope that Malaysia will
have strong defence forces equipped with the latest technologies, strong
military and probably artificial intelligence (AI) to protect our country from
potential threats effectively. Nonetheless, our country still prefers peace in
the world.) Similarly, I will attempt to enrol in the National Service Training
Programme so that I will be armed with survival skills and military strategies
which I believe I can give a helping hand to my country if facing threats from
foreign powers and impossible to negotiate for a peaceful resolution.

In a nutshell, we are not building castles in the air when discussing our vision
for Malaysia in 2050 as we really want to achieve it. Hence, we should implement
simple yet effective ways so as to produce a country we desire. As a responsible
member of Malaysian society, we, regardless of young and old, races and religion
should roll up our sleeves and join hands to bring our country forward to greater
height by realising the National Transformation 2050 for the sake of the
future generation. In 2050, I envisage Malaysia will successfully morph into a
cosmopolitan city with ubiquitous skyscrapers, robots, spaceships, artificial
intelligences until we are on a par with other first-class countries. A quotation
from Malala Yousafzai goes like this, “One child, one teacher, one book and one
pen can change the world.” Indeed, we are the backbones of the country and we
are the one who will change Malaysia, the one who will make Malaysia shines
among countries around the globe. Hence, let’s start our efforts from today
instead of just talking since actions speak louder than words. From the bottom
of my heart, I fervently hope that I can contribute to my country to reach the
zenith of glory as what it had achieved during the Malacca Sultanate era.
