※ Notice: Above check work before mast lifting is very important, is the
indispensable procedure for safely lifting the mast to the working position, and is
performed strictly by a specially-assigned person.
4.2.3 Lifting of mast
The lifting of the mast is commanded by a specially-assigned person and can be
performed after the installation quality and the mast are checked strictly before lifting,
so as to ensure personal safety and equipment safety.
Start the power package, run the DW at idle load, and perform the next lifting work
after the power packet and the DW are normal.
Slowly try to lift the mast with the lowest gear of the DW. If the hook load is more
than 220t but the mast is not lifted, stop lifting immediately, check as per clause 4.2.2,
and retry to lift the mast after the problems are solved. When the mast leaves 200mm
away from the tall stand, stop lifting the mast for at least five minutes. Within the five
minutes, check all stressed parts for damage and deformation, welding joints for
cranking and the end of the lifting wireline for abnormal phenomenon. Check the
deadline anchor for firm connection. Slowly put the mast on the tall stand after the
check, try to lift the mast for three times, and formally lift he mast after all parts are

normal.
While lifting the mast, the lifting speed shall be slow and uniform. When the mast
is lifted to the vertical position approximately (about 80°), slow down, disengage the
low-speed clutch of the DW when the mast contacts the piston rod of the buffer
hydraulic cylinder, slowly release the pressure of the hydraulic cylinder, make the mast
stably reach the vertical position by its dead weight, connect the mast with the A-frame
together by U-bolts (JJ202.50.00) (referring to Fig. 16).
16

during the lifting of the mast.
Hang the balance frame below the hook, remove the end socket rings of the live
ends of two lifting wirelines from the hanger on the mast and connect them onto the
balance frame. Tension the lifting wireline with the gear one of the DW.
Loosen the connecting U-bolts (JJ202.50.00) between the mast and the A-frame
(referring to Fig. 16), operate the mast buffer hydraulic cylinders as per the User's
Manual of ZJ70DBS Drilling Rig so that the piston rods of the left and right hydraulic
cylinders simultaneously pushes the mast forwards, meanwhile, loosen the DW disc
brake and slowly lower the hook. The piston rods of the hydraulic cylinders stop
working after walking the max. travel completely, and slowly lower the mast by the
dead weight of the mast.
