A Quick Overview of Your Proposal: This Answer Is Limited To 1000 Characters, or About 100 Words. Characters Left

Jeff Davis High School in Hazlehurst, Georgia is requesting $5,000 from the Laura Bush Foundation to update the science reference books in its school library. The school has a student population of 763, of which over 50% are eligible for free or reduced lunch. While the school has invested in other resources like computer and science labs, the science reference books in the library are often older than most of the current teachers. The grant would help provide students access to more up-to-date information through new reference books. The person responsible for library operations is a certified teacher with some library training and experience who works part-time in the library.

LBF may use this statement to describe and publicize your award if you are selected for a grant.

Jeff Davis High School is known for making the most of its resources. The
school offers two computer labs for a student population of less than 800
students and the math and science departments both have portable laptop labs
for their students. Every classroom has LCD projectors installed. However,
several areas of the library’s book collection have fallen behind the times. For
example, the science reference books are frequently older than most of the
teachers currently employed by the school. If awarded this grant, Jeff Davis High
School would use the funds to update the reference section of the library to allow
students to have access to more up-to-date information.
