The document discusses the many benefits of trees including providing oxygen, improving air quality, reducing heat, and supporting wildlife habitat.

Trees provide benefits such as improving air quality, reducing heat, supporting wildlife habitat, increasing property values, and beautifying neighborhoods.

Trees help the environment by absorbing carbon dioxide, producing oxygen, reducing erosion, storing water, and supporting animal habitats both above and below ground.

II.Introduction

Since the beginning, trees have furnished us with two of life’s essentials, food and oxygen. As we

evolved, they provided additional necessities such as shelter, medicine, and tools. Today, their value

continues to increase and more benefits of trees are being discovered as their role expands to satisfy

the needs created by our modern lifestyles.

Trees are important part of every community. Our streets, parks, playgrounds and backyards are

lined with trees that create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment. Trees increase our quality

of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings. We gather under the

cool shade they provide during outdoor activities with family and friends. Many neighborhoods are

also the home of very old trees that serve as historic landmarks and a great source of town pride.

Using trees in cities to deflect the sunlight reduces the heat island effect caused by pavement and

commercial buildings.

Trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate

amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. During the process of

photosynthesis, trees take in carbon dioxide and produce the oxygen we breathe. According to the

U.S. Department of Agriculture, “One acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and puts out

four tons of oxygen. This is enough to meet the annual needs of 18 people.” Trees, shrubs and turf

also filter air by removing dust and absorbing other pollutants like carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide

and nitrogen dioxide. After trees intercept unhealthy particles, rain washes them to the ground.

Trees control climate by moderating the effects of the sun, rain and wind. Leaves absorb and filter

the sun’s radiant energy, keeping things cool in summer. Trees also preserve warmth by providing a

screen from harsh wind. In addition to influencing wind speed and direction, they shield us from the
downfall of rain, sleet and hail. Trees also lower the air temperature and reduce the heat intensity of

the greenhouse effect by maintaining low levels of carbon dioxide.

Both above and below ground, trees are essential to the eco-systems in which they reside. Far

reaching roots hold soil in place and fight erosion. Trees absorb and store rainwater which reduce

runoff and sediment deposit after storms. This helps the ground water supply recharge, prevents the

transport of chemicals into streams and prevents flooding. Fallen leaves make excellent compost that

enriches soil.

Many animals, including elephants, koalas and giraffes eat leaves for nourishment. Flowers are eaten

by monkeys, and nectar is a favorite of birds, bats and many insects. Animals also eat much of the

same fruit that we enjoy This process helps disperse seeds over great distances. Of course, hundreds

of living creatures call trees their home. Leaf-covered branches keep many animals, such as birds and

squirrels, out of the reach of predators.

III. Rationale/Background

Tree Plantation in the Philippines

Direct factors of deforestation in the tropics, similar to the extension of farming area, moving

development, fuelwood get-together, and business logging, are explicitly pertinent and the theme of

much exchange in the Philippines. Be that as it may, these noticeable indications might be commonly

less imperative to deforestation than the roundabout causes: market and arrangement

disappointments, populace development, rustic neediness, defilement, numbness,

inconsiderateness, just as the state and improvement of the economy and society.

Populace development has been particularly imperative to deforestation. Albeit one-reason causality

has been legitimately condemned for being excessively limited of an

approach for such a confused and multi-dimensional wonders like deforestation, populace

development stays among the best indicators for woods region misfortune in tropical creating

nations. For instance, when land uses and populace thickness in the Philippines are drawn into a

similar figure after some time, a noteworthy relationship between the diminishing in woods land and

increment in populace thickness can without much of a stretch be seen. As the regions of

characteristic timberlands decline and the developing populace definitely builds the interest for

wood-based items, there are not many different choices than to base the supply of wood and timber

progressively on manor ranger service. Prior to the 1970s, the ranger service area was one of the

significant supporters of the Philippines' national pay. The to a great extent exploitable way to deal

with woods usage quickly reduced the huge normal woods assets. The general outcomes were a

decrease in the significance of the ranger service division and genuine ecological debasement. An

case of the last has been the genuine negative nearby and off-site effects of soil.

Tree Planting in Bulacan

There is an on going tree-planting activity in this town, dubbed “Pagkakaisa para sa Kalikasan”,

through the initiative of the True Life Ministry (TLM) located in Barangay Agnaya.

At least 1,000 mahoganies will be planted in different areas of the municipality to

avoid floods. Volunteers planted recently over 100 mahogany trees at the Plaridel Public Cemetery;

they will plant the remaining trees in different areas of the town. The youth, members of TLM and

individuals from other organizations usually join the tree-planting activity. Over 300 to 500

mahogany trees will be planted in the municipality of Plaridel.

IV. Project Description

Goals

To plant more trees in Rocka Village.

Objectives

1. To have a tree planting activity in Rocka Village

2. This project will be in partnership of local governments and NGO

3. Campaign will be launch in schools within the vicinity

Timeline

This project will be possibly start in the last quarter of the year and it will be doing twice a year.

(October 27,2019 and November 24)

Benefits Off This Campaign.

Tree Planting in Rocka Village is a good way to prevent flood in the town of Plaridel specially Rocka

Village. Rocka Community and also use those trees in building houses. Planting trees is useful to

reduce the pollution of our environment and make a better surroundings. It has been shown that

spending time among trees and green spaces reduces the amount of stress that we carry around

with us in our daily lives. Trees can complement the architecture or design of building or entire

neighborhoods. The value of a well landscaped home with mature healthy trees can be as much as

10% higher than a similar home with no or little landscaping. Champak (Magnolia champaca),Ylang-

ylang (Cananga odorata), and Agoho (Casuarina equisetifolia) are good example of trees to plant.

Other Considerations And Costs

• Permission from the Home Owners Association

• Taxes and permit fees are not included.

• Electric utility companies may have the authority to prohibit planting around their overhead

lines, check with them.

• When searching for a service provider, be sure to request a detailed written offer (usually

fixed-price) from several providers that includes proof of:

• Business license

• Professional arborist license (not typical but is nice)

• Liability insurance and workman’s compensation insurance

• Customer references

• A time commitment to complete the work tied to payments

• Additional information and proof should also be available regarding:

• Certification by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)

• Registry as Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) Accredited Business

• Use of shoe-spikes to climb trees (should NOT be the case)

• Removal of living material from the tree-top (should NOT be the case)

• Disposal of all limbs, branches, and cut material; and full clean up the area

• A background check on the persons who will be on your property

• Provision of a signed contract that details the work to be done including an estimate of time

on the job site and the fixed-price to deliver on terms

• A valid contractors bond on work that exceeds Php 8,000.00

• DIY considerations

• For smaller trees this activity may be suitable for able DIY persons, though it requires arborist

knowledge of how to correctly plant and nurture a tree.
