TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR 11KV CURRENT TRANSFORMER (RESIN CAST) &


11KV POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER (RESIN CAST)

1.0 GENERAL

This specification covers the design, manufacture, testing and supply of 11 kV Current Transformer (Resin Cast) &11 kV
Potential Transformer (Resin Cast). The equipment shall comply with the requirement of the relevant IS specifications.

2.0 CURRENT TRANSFORMER:


Current transformer shall be single phase, single core single ratio dry type epoxy coated resin cast as per IS: 2705: 1992 of
latest revisions thereof as per details mentioned below: -

TYPE : Dry type epoxy coated resin cast CT.


Capacity (Amps) 30/5A to 600/5 A.

a) Rated Voltage : 11kV


b) No. of core : One
c) Rated output : 15 VA
d) Power frequency withstand voltage : 28 kV rms
e) Lightning Impulse withstand voltage : 75 kVpeak
f) Class of accuracy : 0.2S
g) Material
i) Core & Conductor : To be specified by manufacturer with
thickness/size of Wire while quoting the tender
ii) Insulation : Resin cast
iii) Base : MS Hot dip galvanized
Secondary : Firm and effective termination S1 & S2 termination
shall be clearly marked.

h) Temperature rise over ambient- : 45o C

i) Weight of CT : Minimum weight to be specified by manufacturer
j) CT shall be suitable for load as per
following CT ratio limits : 30/5A, 50/5A, 100/5A, 200/5A, 400/5A, 600/5A

3.0 POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER

Potential Transformer shall be Three Phase, dry type Epoxy Coated Resin cast, air cooled as per IS: 3156/1992 or latest
amendment thereof. The PT shall have a ratio of 11kV/110V and with a rated burden of 25 VA and of accuracy class 0.2S.
Potential transformers should be type tested and routine testes as per IS3156/1992 or latest version thereof. The minimum
weight of PT shall be specified by manufacturer.

Name of manufacturer, Primary (R,Y,B) & Secondary (r,y,b,n) marking shall have to be engraved (in moulding).

4.0 Type test: All the type tests as listed below shall be carried out for each type of equipment strictly and as per relevant ISS
(or latest amendment thereafter).
Current Transformers (As per IS: 2705/1992 or its latest Amendment)
a. Short time current test.
b. Temperature rise test.
c. Lightning Impulse Test.
d. Determination of errors or other characteristics according to the requirements of the appropriate designation or accuracy
class.
Potential Transformers: (As per IS: 3156/1992 or its latest amendment)
a. Temperature rise test
b. Lightning Impulse Test
c. Determination of errors or other characteristics according to the requirements of the appropriate designation or accuracy
class.

4.1 Routine Tests:- The following shall constitute routine tests :

4.1.1 Current Transformers:

a) Verification of terminal marking and polarity


b) Power frequency dry withstand tests on primary windings.
c) Power frequency dry withstand tests on secondary windings.
d) Over voltage inter- turn test.
e) Determination of errors or other characteristics according to the requirements of the appropriate
designation or accuracy class.
f) Partial discharge test in accordance with IS: 11322/1985.

4.1.2 Potential Transformers:

a) Verification of terminal marking and polarity


b) Power frequency dry withstand tests on primary windings.
c) Power frequency dry withstand tests on secondary windings.
d) Determination of errors or other characteristics according to the requirements of the appropriate
designation or accuracy class.
e) Partial discharge test in accordance with IS: 11322/1985.

4.2 Acceptance Tests: The following shall constitute the acceptance tests:
4.2.1 Current Transformers:

d) Determination of errors or other characteristics according to the requirements of the appropriate designation
or accuracy class.

4.2.2 Potential Transformers:

5.0 A plate of suitable size shall be provided on the outside of the CT & PT which shall have the following information to be
engraved on the plate.

Purchaser reserves the right to get the CT’s / PT’s etc. inspected/ tested by any independent agency at the cost of purchaser.
Testing Facility : The manufacturer must have testing facilities at their works to carry out all the routine & acceptance test
including partial discharge test.

Schematic drawing showing each and every details, dimensions shall be submitted.
CT and PT shall be supplied with base plate having adjustable hole for ease of installation as per drawing enclosed.
6.0 GUARANTEE:
Supplied equipment should be guaranteed for 24 months from date of installation or for 30 months from date of received at
destination, whichever is earlier. If the equipment is found defective within the above guarantee period, it should be replaced/
repaired by the supplier free of cost within one month of the receipt of intimation. If the defective equipment is/are not
replaced/ repaired within above period, the purchaser shall recover an equivalent amount plus 15 % supervision charges.
Engineer In-charge of execution of agreement shall be the Nodal officer for implementation of above. After replacement/
repair the guarantee shall be 6 months from the date of handing over of replaced/ repaired equipment to UPCL, or date of
expiry of original guarantee period whichever is later.

33KV POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER (RESIN CAST)

1.0 GENERAL
This specification covers the design, manufacture, testing and supply of 33 kV Current Transformer (Resin Cast) & 33 kV
Potential Transformer (Resin Cast). The equipment shall comply with the requirement of the relevant IS specifications.

2.0 CURRENT TRANSFORMER:


Current transformer shall be single phase, single core single ratio dry type epoxy coated resin cast as per IS: 2705: 1992 of
latest revisions thereof as per details mentioned below: -

TYPE : Dry type epoxy coated resin cast CTs.


Capacity (Amps) : 20/1A to 600/1A.
a) Rated Voltages : 33KV
b) No. of cores : One
c) Rated output : 10 VA
d) Power frequency withstand : 70 kVrms

3.0 POTENTIAL TRANSFORMER:


Potential Transformer shall be single phase, dry type Epoxy Coated Resin cast, air cooled conforming to IS: 3156/1992 or

latest amendment thereof. The PT shall have a ratio of 33kV 11kV and with a rated burden of 25 VA, accuracy class

0.2S and insulation class B. Potential transformers should be routine tested and type tested as per IS3156/1992 or latest
version thereof. The minimum weight of PT shall have to be specified by manufacturer.

4.0 Type test: All the type tests as listed below shall be carried out for each type of equipment strictly and as per relevant ISS
(or latest amendment thereafter).

Current Transformers (As per IS: 2705/1992 or its latest Amendment)


a. Short time current test.
b. Temperature rise test.
c. Lightning Impulse Test.
d. Determination of errors or other characteristics according to the requirements of the appropriate designation or accuracy
class.

Potential Transformers: (As per IS: 3156/1992 or its latest amendment)


a. Temperature rise test
b. Lightning Impulse Test
c. Determination of errors or other characteristics according to the requirements of the appropriate designation or accuracy
class.
4.1 Routine Tests:- The following shall constitute routine tests :
4.1.1 Current Transformers:
a) Verification of terminal marking and polarity
b) Power frequency dry withstand tests on primary windings.
c) Power frequency dry withstand tests on secondary windings.

5.0 A rating plate of suitable size shall be provided on the outside of the CT & PT which shall have the following information to
be engraved on the plate.
