Doors
Hinges
The door hinges are bolted to the side of the cab. To align
the door to the cab, there are shims that can be placed
between the hinge and the cab. Because the hinges are
fully enclosed, there is no need for periodic maintenance.
Hinge pins are anodized; the hinge bushing is made of
bronze and coated with a lubricant.

The upper door hinge also functions as a mounting plate

for the lower mirror bracket.

The door needs to be aligned well in the cab door proper fit in the opening. The lock brace can be adjusted
opening. Alignment is done with the door hinges for for outside panel fit and correct lock operation.

Door Locks
The door lock is connected by rods and wire to the inner

and outer door handles. If the vehicle is equipped with a
central locking system, there is a solenoid installed on the
lock to operate the lock function. The solenoid is activated
by the inner door handle and by the key.

for the ignition switch lock. The key can be ordered to fit
the vehicle only, or the same key can be specified to fit a
fleet of Volvo vehicles.

The keys are laser cut and can be ordered only through
Volvo Trucks North America, Inc. parts warehouses. On
each key ring supplied with the vehicle at delivery, there
is a key code that is used for reordering keys or to make
duplicates.

Window Regulator
Manual window regulators are standard on VHD models.
Options are a right-hand electrical regulator, or electric
regulator for both sides.
