EARLY INFORMAL EDUCATION – HOUSE, DAY

Young Rizal reciting the letters of the alphabet in monotone,


however exceptional in making poems at a young age. His mother,
to lighten her son, encouraged Rizal to write poems to stimulate
his imagination.

All the family, except Rizal and Teodora, went to bed early.
Candles had already been put out, except for a single light of
coconut oil with little moths circling in playful flights, some
getting burnt. (make this the intro clip for this scene, focus
on the lamp then slowly move camera to Rizal and Teodora.)

Rizal was having difficulties in reading in Spanish, Teodora


became impatient and took the (1) Old (2) Thick (3) blue-covered
book.

TEODORA

(Annoyed but not angry, completely lost her


patience to her young one)

Hindi mo pinagsisikapang maayos ang pagbabasa, at nagawa


mo pang gumuhit ng mga nakakatawa at walang kabuluhang
larawan sa mga pahina ng aklat.

Teodora began reading in Spanish in the background.

(What is she reading in the background, exactly?)

RIZAL

(Out of focus, stares intently to the flying


moths while the well-read Spanish verses of
Teodora was fading in the background)

TEODORA

(Upon noticing that her child wasn’t listening,


she stopped reading)

Dahil tila hindi mo din mahagilap ng maayos ang aking


pinapabasa, oh siya, makinig ka na lamang muna at
mayroon akong ikukuwento.

TEODORA

(VO, Indistinct)

Camera zooms on the ‘flock’ of gamu-gamo.


Teodora started reading about the fable of the
young moth and the old one. Rizal half-listened,
his gaze and attention was still fixed on the
flying moths.

Sa isang mapayapang gabi, maligayang nagtipon tipon ang


mga gamu-gamo…

(What… we won’t complete the story?)

INT: BED – NIGHT, LIGHT BY THE OIL LAMP

After the session, Teodora was putting the half-awake Rizal to


bed.

TEODORA

(Looking at her almost asleep son with love,


running her fingers through his hair)

Ipangako mo sa aking hindi ka kikilos at aasta tulad ng batang


gamu-gamo. Marunong kang sumunod, kundi, masusunog ka katulad ng
nangyari sakanya.
(Camera moves from the bed to the open window, it’s dark
outside)

INT: HOUSE – DAY

Young Rizal holding a kite/wooden box (anything basta oldies na


dulaan), calling out for his mother and father as he eargerly
climb the stairs towards their living room.

RIZAL

Nay! Tay! Naaaayyy! Taaayy! May bagon laruan po ako!


(Remove this line, just a short clip of Rizal playing)
FAMILY

(Assisting a grim-faced Teodora)

RIZAL

(Happiness quickly faded)

Nay? Bakit po?

Immediately, the footsteps of several men of Guardia Civil can


be heard approaching.

SISTER 1

Sandali lang! Hindi kayo maaaring pumasok dito!

GUARDIA CIVIL HEAD

Donya Teodora Alonso, kayo po ay aming inaaresto sa


salang pagtangkang paglason sa asawa ng inyong kapatid
na si Teodora Formoso.

GUARDIA CIVIL 2

(Points Teodora)

Arrestarla!

FRANCISCO

(Hastily stood up)

Sandali lamang! Paki-usap! Isa ata itong malaking


pagkakamali!

TEODORA

(Breathes rapidly)

Anong pinagsasabi ninyong paglalason?

GUARDIA CIVIL 1
(Advanced towards Teodora)

Sumama po kayo sa amin.

(Grabs Teodora’s hand)

SISTER 2

(Was positioned near Teodora, holding her)

Bitiwan niyo ho siya!

(To Teodora’s aid)

Magsitigil po kayo!

GUARDIA CIVIL 1

(Removes Teodora from her daughter’s grip,


holding Teodora in a half nelson – in the
background Teodora is resisting and trying to
take a stand)

TEODORA

(Calmly but half shookt)

Bitiwan ninyo ako. Sasama ako.

RIZAL

(Begins to cry)

Nanay! Nanay!

Gulo gulo

FRANCISCO

Senyor! Pag-usapan natin to! Senyor! Parang-awa niyo na!


(In the background we can hear a nagwawalang
Rizal at nag-iiyakang mga ate)

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT: OUT OF THE HAUZ – DAY

The Guardia Civil was escorting Teodora when a crying Rizal


suddenly ran towards her.

RIZAL

Nanay! Nanay! Huwag niyo po akong iwan!

(Turns to face the guardia civil head)

Senyore, parang awa niyo na po! Huwag niyo pong kunin


aking ina!

TEODORA

Pepe…

(Kneels so that she can level with her son)

May kaunting hindi pagkakaintindihan lamang.

(Brushes Rizal’s cheek)

Babalik din ang nanay ha?

GUARDIA CIVIL 1

Tama na yan!

(Removes Teodora’s hand from her son’s face)

EXT: CALAMBA TO BINAN – DAY TO NIGHT

The household was gathered to watch their little boy depart for
school.
FRANCISCO

Pagbubutihin mo ang iyong pag-aaral at huwag kang


magsasanhi ng kahit na anong sakit ng ulo sa iyong Tiya
Tomasa.

TEODORA

Susulat ka sa amin at sa iyong mga kapatid. At kung


papayag ng kapalaran, ikaw ay aming dadalawin.

RIZAL

(Takes a sincere bow and kisses the hands of his


tearful parents, also bidding farewell to his
sisters)

Paalam, ina, ama, Dona, Senora at Senorita. Walang araw


ang kailanma’y dadaan na hindi ko batid ang kalungkutan
ng pangungulila sainyong presensya.

PACIANO

Inay, Itay, mahaba-haba pa po ang aming lalakbayin.


Maririto na po kami.

Rizal and Paciano left Calamba in a carromata, reaching their


destination before sundown, after an hour and a half drive. They
were welcomed by Leandro, their cousin. Leandro took Rizal on a
sightseeing that night. (I think this Leandro scene is no longer
necessary.)

EXT: RIZAL AND MAILMAN

Mailman gave Rizal the letter. Rizal read it and smiled.

Rizal shifted to Medicine.

INT: HOME - FRANCISCO AND RIZAL


FRANCISCO

(Curious)

Ano naman ang nag-udyok sayo upang palitan

ang iyong kurso? Pasensya na ngunit ako’y

nagtataka sa biglaang pagbago ng takbo ng

iyong isip.

(Laughs nervously)

RIZAL

Humingi po ako ng payo kay Padre Ramon at nais ko rin


gamutin ang lumalalang paglabo ng mga mata ni inay.

FRANCISCO

(Shaking his head but smiling in disbelief)

DISSOLVE.

INT: ROOM, DESK – NIGHT

Rizal is seated alone in his desk, writing a poem entitled


“Amor Patrio”. Camera: focuses on Rizal signing the essay under
his pen-name Laong Laan. Rizal sealed the envelope.

Specs: Room is surrounded by lots of newspapers, candle as a


lamp. Bookshelves, etc.

INT: DESK - DAY (WHITE HOUSE)

Meeting with Eusebio Corominas, gave him an article about


Carolines questions.

RIZAL

Buenos dias senyor Eusebio, ako’y mayroong hinaing na nais


iparating saiyo. Maaari bang mailathala ang artikulo tungkol sa
“Carolines questions”?

EUSEBIO

Aba! Higit pa sa maaari. Isang karangalan ang maglingkod at


punan ang iyong mga ninanais. Ako’y handang tumulong sa mga
mahuhusay na manunulat kagaya mo. Malugod din akong
nagpapasalamat kay Senyor Maximo sapagkat naku! Kung hindi dahil
sa kanya, hindi ako makakatagpo ng isang kagalang-galang na
ginoo na mayroong lubhang magaling na pag-iisip.

(Handshake)

INT: DESK - JULY 31, 1886

Rizal wrote his first letter in German to Blumentritt. Rizal was


sitting on his table while writing the letter.

RIZAL V.O

(Preparing the book, placing it inside a brown envelope)

I have heard that you are studying our language. And that you
had already published some work about it; permit me to send you
a valuable book written by my countryman in our language. The
Spanish version is mediocre because the author is only a modest
writer but the Tagalog part is good. And it is precisely the
language spoken in our province.

(Rizal sent the book which he mentioned, that book entitled


‘Aritmetica’).

BLUMENTRITT (WHITE HOUSE “SALA”)

(Receives the package, smiles at the sight of the book and


rushes to his desk)

My, my!
(Blumentritt appears to be reading)

(Shaking his head since he was too impressed)

After Blumentritt read the letter of Rizal he was impressed and


Blumentritt gave Rizal two books that marked the beginning of
their long and frequent correspondence.

(How exactly would you portray this, considering they’re


communicating from a distance? I suggest a scene where
Blumentritt is wrapping two books with some Manila paper and
“tali” then and writing “For my friend Rizal” on the Manila
paper)

INT: ROOM – NIGHT, WINTER OF 1886

(Rizal was putting the finishing touches to his first novel, he


was struck by financial problem in Berlin as Paciano could not
send him his monthly allowance from Calamba) (Again, how would
you portray this? Just show how much money is in Rizal’s purse
or wallet.)

RIZAL

Ako’y magtitiis na lamang sa kakaramput na tinapay na ito.


Kung ako ay mamamatay, mas gugustuhin kong pumanaw para sa
kasarinlan, para sa ikabubuti at ikasasaya ng aking bayan at
ng aking mga kapwa Indio.

INT: ROOM, MORNING

Idea of Writing a Novel on the Philippines


(Rizal reading of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
While reading, scenarios of unfortunate Negros slaves pop out on
his mind which inspired Rizal to prepare a novel that depicts
the miseries of his people)

(Rizal made the Final revision on the manuscript, he was sick


and penniless, he saw no hope of having the novel published)

RIZAL

Hindi ako naniniwala na ang Noli Me tangere ay mailalathala


noong akoy nasa Berlin pa, sawi, nanghihina, at nawawalan na
ng pag-asa mula sa gutom, ako’y nasa punto na itapon na
lamang ang aking gawain sa apoy bilang isang bagay na sinumpa
at mamatay na lamang.

(After writing his letter, he goes to his bed, tired, shut down)

INT: HOUSE- DAY

(Rizal wakes up with a familiar voice he is hearing, only to see


his friend, Maximo Viola, sipping tea beside him while reading
the unfinished Noli)

MAXIMO

Oh, Jose? Gising ka na. Tiya-a? Gusto mo? Makakabuti ito sa


lalamunan mo.
(Rizal just stares at Maximo, surprised and can’t
comprehend what’s going on)
MAXIMO
Huwag kang mag-alala. Handa akong tumulong tapusin ang iyong
nobela kung papayagan mo ako. Ay nga pala, balita kong wala kang
pera. Ako muna ang bahala saiyo, huwag kang mag-alala.
RIZAl

Ma-Maximo? Ikaw ba ‘yan? Paano ka nakapasok sa kwarto ko? Paano


mo nalaman yang mga bagay na iyan?!
MAXIMO
Sabihin nalang natin na, marami akong koneksyon dito.
RIZAL
Hindi ko alam paano magpapasalamat sa tulong mo Maximo…
MAXIMO

Nako Rizal! Magpahinga ka na nga hahaha, andami mong satsat.


(Scene ends with Rizal smiling at Maximo, as he goes back
to bed and Maximo continues on reading the unfinished
novel)

March 21, 1887

to his intimate friends) (Remember to shoot this scene)

RIZAL

I am sending you my first book though I have already written


much before it and received prizes. This is the first
impartial and bold book on the life of the Tagalogs. The
Filipinos will find it the history of the last 10 years. The
government and the friars will probably attack the work
refuting my arguments but I trust in the God of Truth and in
the persons who have actually seen the sufferings at close
range. I hope I can answer all the concepts which have been
fabricated to malign us.

INT: HOUSE- DAY (WHITE HOUSE)

(The friends of Rizal hailed the novel, praising it in glowing


colors. As expected, Rizal’s enemies condemned it) (Remember to

BLUMENTRITT

First of all, accept my cordial congratulations for your


brilliant novel about customs which interest me
extraordinarily. Your work, as we Germans say, has been
written with the blood of the heart, and so the heart also
speaks. I continue reading it with much interest, and I shall
beg to ask you now and then for an explanation when I find
words unknown to me; for instance, the word Filibustero must
have certain meaning in the Philippines that I do not find in
the Spanish of the Peninsulars nor in that of the Spanish
peoples of America.

(Rizal received and read the letter from his friends)

RIZAL

Naku! Ako’y nagagalak at nagustuhan ng aking mga kaibigan ang


aking nobela. Sa wakas mayroong nakakaintindi na sa aking
pilosopiya tungkol paghihimagsik at kabutihan para sa ating
inang bayan. Ano kaya ang magiging reaksyon ni Maximo?
INT: CAFÉ IN BERLIN – DAY (WHITE HOUSE)

As the book’s publication was completed, Rizal started to regain


his health and state of mind. (How to portray this? I suggest
taking a clip of the multiple copies of the book.)

MAXIMO

Oh. Maganda ang pagbuklod neto.

Binabati kita, Jose! Sulit ang lahat ng hirap mo.

RIZAL

(Rizal smiles at Maximo)

Hindi, Maximo. Hindi ko ‘to magagawa kung hindi dahil saiyo.


Hanggang sa kamatayan, tatanawin ko ang aking utang na loob
sa iyo.

MAXIMO

Ulul! HAHAHA! (ULUL, HONESTLY? REPLACE WITH “NAKO, PARA SAAN


PA BA ANG PAGKAKAIBIGAN?)

RIZAL

Balita ko nga, nagdulot ito sa labis na kaguluhan sa


Pilipinas.

MAXIMO

Ah…’yun nga, ito ay nakakuha rin ng pagkagalit sa pamahalaan


ng Manila at ng simbahan. Pero hindi ba ‘yun ang iyong
layunin?

RIZAL
…at balita ko rin…na lumalala na ang kondisyon sa mata ng
aking ina..

MAXIMO

Jose… Alam mo namang lubos na mapanganib na bumalik sa


Pilipinas pagkatapos ng iyong isinulat, diba?

RIZAL

Alam ko…pero-

(Maximo cuts Rizal mid-dialogue)

MAXIMO

AHA! Ganito na lamang. Gusto mo bang maglakbay? Ako ang


bahala sa gastusin. Lagi mo na lamang iginugugol ang iyong
oras sa pag-aaral mula nang dumating ka rito.

RIZAL

Pero Maximo….

MAXIMO

Tinatanggihan mo ba ang aking imbitasyon?

(Smirks)

(Internal voice in Maximo’s head* naku Jose, andami pang bagay


dito sa mundo ang pwede mo pang malaman. Halimbawa, ang mga
muchacha (young woman) ng bawat bansa!)

RIZAL

Huy! Hindi naman sa ganun…

MAXIMO

Napagpasyahan na! Ibabalik mo ang pabor sa iyong kasanayan sa


lingguwistika!
(Show a map with trails going to Bohemia, Austria, Hungary,
and Switzerland)

(voice only while the trails are appearing sa map)

RIZAL

Saan ba tayo pupunta?

MAXIMO

Hmmm, magsisimula tayo sa Bohemia, tapos, dayuhin natin ang


Austria at ang Hungary, eh magkatabi lang naman sila, at
matatapos ang biyahe natin sa lungsod ng Geneva, Switzerland.

(Scene of an old school train going to Switzerland)

INT: DAY Inside a “train” (makeshift train)

NOTE: Kunin lang sa internet ang scene sa train.

MAXIMO

Kamangha-mangha, hindi ba? isang halimaw na nilikha ng


rebolusyong pang-industriya.

(Referring to the train they are riding)

Ang panahon ng kapangyarihan at makinarya ay darating rin sa


atin.

(Optional-Maximo lights a cigarette)

(Rizal stares at the train’s window)

RIZAL

Oo nga, inaasahan ko rin talaga na darating ito sa Pilipinas.


Sa aking pagtatagpo sa iba pang mga mag-aaral na Asyano sa
unibersidad ng Paris, nalaman ko na ang mga Hapon ay
binibigyan ng atensyon ang teknolohiyang kemikal. Ang mga
Filipino ay nagkakaroon ng hilig sa medisina at batas ng
ating lipunan. Ngunit ang teknolohiya ay pantay na mahalaga
para sa kaunlaran ng isang bansa.

(Looks at Maximo)

Nagtataka ako…kumusta na kaya ang mga kasamahan natin sa


Espanya?

MAXIMO

(Arrogantly)

Hmph. Sa halip ng pagbabago, marami sakanila ay iniisip


lamang kung sino ang maging mamumuno nila.

Sa totoo lang, iniisip kong naiinggit sila sa libro natin.

RIZAL

(With a calm reform)

Hindi ko sinulat ang libro na ‘yun para maging mamumuno.

MAXIMO

Alam ko. Sa iyong libro na nalathala, nais ko lamang


paunlarin ang pagkilos natin para sa pagbabago ng Espanya.

(scene outside the train window like clouds and plains)

Tama na ‘yan, sa ngayon.

Magpakasaya muna tayo sa paglakbay natin, pwede ba?

INT: MERCADO HOUSEHOLD-DAY (WHITE HOUSE)

Rizal, back in Calamba tended to his mother’s illness

RIZAL
Inay, hindi mo lang man sinabi kina Paciano nang mas maagang
panahon na kritikal na pala ang inyong katarata.

TEODORA

Ginusto ko rin ‘yun. Ayaw kong maging sagabal sa pag-aaral


mo, ijo. At tignan mo, nakauwi ka na, mayroon ka nang klinika
dito sa Calamba, at balang araw, makilala ka bilang maging
pinakamahusay na ophthalmologist at siruhano ng ating bansa!
Hehehe.

RIZAL

(Rizal sighs)

Nay naman eh, wag natin unahan ang tadhana. Sige na nga,
humiga ka muna Nay, Pagkatapos neto, unti-unting mababawi
ang inyong paningin. Mag-uumpisa na po ako.

After the operation, Teodora gradually regained her eyesight.


(Show Teodora removing eye bandage and finally being able to see
more clearly) Days later they had a talk with Paciano sa terrace
nila.

(WHY IS THE FOLLOWING JOSE-PACIANO CONVERSATION SIGNIFICANT? CAN


THIS BE REMOVED?)

EXT: MERCADO HOUSEHOLD TERRACE-SUNSET (WHITE HOUSE)

Rizal is staring at the outside sa terrace, and Paciano walks up


to him.

PACIANO

Jose.

RIZAL
Ang populasyon ng bayan natin ay nabawasan konte, hindi ba,
kuya Paciano? Narinig ko rin na ang buong kahabaan ng lupang
iyan ay pag-aari ng simbahan ngayon..?

PACIANO

(sa likod ni Rizal* *in silence* *fierce)

RIZAL

At… nakikita kong parang nagbibilad ka na ngayon sa araw ah?

PACIANO

(In a lighter tone)

Hehehe. Mas naging barako na ako, hindi ba?

(both of them laugh as they stare at the sky together)

INT: MERCADO HOUSEHOLD- NIGHT, CALAMBA, LAGUNA (WHITE HOUSE)

FRANCISCO

Pepe…mayroon kang imbitasyon…

(Gives Rizal a letter)

…mula kay Gobernador Heneral Terrero…

TEODORA

Huwag kang pupunta!

(Shouts at Rizal)

Ikukulong ka nila, hijo!

PACIANO

Kung ganun man, eh kaya naman nila gawin ‘yun kay Pepe sa
simula pa lamang, nung nakarating siya dito

RIZAL
Sa tingin ko kailangan kong pumunta.

INT: MALACAÑAN PALACE-DAY (WHITE HOUSE)

(Royal Guards open the doors of the Gov. Gen.’s office)

(Rizal Enters the office* *absolute silence, with only


Rizal’s footsteps to be heard)

GOV. GEN. EMILIO TERRERO

Hmmm. Dr. Jose Rizal? Ang librong iyong isinulat ay nagbunga


ng malakasang pagtutol at oposisyon mula sa simbahan.

RIZAL

Lahat ng aking isinulat ay katotohanan lamang.

TERRERO

Huwag kang mag-alala, Doktor Rizal. Pinupuri ko ang iyong


tapang.

(stands up)

Halina, sumama ka saakin.

(Both walking in the Palace’s corridor)

TERRERO

Wala akong nais para sa hindi kinakailangang salungatan.

Bibigyan kita ng isang bodyguard upang protektahan ka mula sa


anumang maaring gawing masama sa iyo ng simbahan.

(Terrero clears his throat)

(Calls for Andrade, loudly)


Teniente Andrade!

(A tall shadowy figure appears in front of them from the


dark end of the corridor, then walks up a Spanish
Lieutenant)

LT. JOSE TAVIEL ANDRADE

Isang malaking karangalan na makilala ka, Dr. Jose Rizal.

Andrade is not a man of words, so the scene just ends there.

INT: MERCADO HOUSEHOLD-NIGHT (WHITE HOUSE)

Several days after

(Teodora, knocks on Rizal’s door, in tears, and reaches out


a letter, but not an ordinary letter, A letter from the
Governor-General himself)

(Rizal opens the letter and reads)

(Voice of Terrero)

(scene of Rizal, with his mother sitting alongside him as


they read the letter)

TERRERO

Querido Doctor Jose Rizal,

Sa pamamagitan ng mga ulat ni Tenyente Andrade,


sinusubaybayan namin ang bawat kilos at galaw mo. Kasunod ng
palabas na ginawa mo tungkol sa prayle na halos patayin ka,
inuutusan kitang lisanin ang bansa.

(scene of Terrero at the Malacañan Palace, at night,


Staring at the lights of night time Manila)

(nakatalikod)
Ang desisyong ‘to ay ginawa ko sa takot ng kaguluhan sa
pagitan ng simbahan at ng masa. Personal kong tinuring nang
lubos, iyon ang dahilan kung bakit nais kitang lumayo sa
anumang poot na maaaring dalhin sa iyo ng mga prayle. Para sa
iyong sariling kaligtasan. Pasensya na, Doctor Rizal.

Cariñosos saludos¸ Gobernador Heneral, Emilio Terrero.

(Terrero turns around)

TERRERO

Tenyente!

(Andrade comes up from behind the camera and answers)

ANDRADE

Heneral!

(salute)

TERRERO

(salute back)

ANDRADE

Opo Heneral.

(walks away)

TERRERO

at Teniente, panatilihin mo ang ugnayan mo sa pamilya ni

RIZAL

EXT: PORT - NOON (

Arrival in Manila with Sister. Rizal and sister step up, holding
their luggage. Carabineer and several other men get down on a
horse, with one sergeant.

CARABINEER
(just inspects rizal’s stuff)

Rizal retrieved his things and went to Malacanang. (In a


kalesa?)

INT:PRISON CHAPEL HALLWAY-NIGHT

12/29/1896 @6:00pm

Rizal, Villaclara, and March along with three guards *the 2 are
the same guards from Rizal’s doorway, and 1 new guard, are
walking at the hallway while conversing about certain matters as
they are heading towards their way to the dining room, where
Rizal is to eat his last supper.

PADRE VILLACLARA

Ayun, inutusan kami ni Polavieja na samahan ka sa iyong


huling sandali bukas, ito ay isang kabalintunaan na sinabi ko
kina Padre Bech at Padre Sanchez mna mayroon kang

(Points at the 2 priests)

Kayo! Dito kayo sa tabi ni Doktor, Vamanos.

(laughs in utter happiness)

RIZAL

Maraming Salamat po, Señor.

(Rizal and the 2 priests sit down)


CESTAÑO

Ngayon, naiintindihan ko na ito ang iyong huling hapunan,


huwag nating itago ang katotohanang iyon. Inutusan ko ang
aking mga tauhan na lutuin ka ng pinakamahusay (ay baket
pinakamahusay? May performance yung ulam?) na ulam, Pakiusap
lamang, kumain ka na parang walang bukas.

(Very. Loud. Laughter. )

(Food is presented in front of them)

CESTAÑO

muy bien! Ano pa ang hinihintay natin? Ataque!

(in a low tone and looks at Rizal)

Doktor Rizal, May problema ba? maliban sa iyong kamatayan


bukas (grabe naman ka straightforward nito hahaha pwede bang
“Maliban sa nakatakdang mangyari bukas…”), ano ang tila
nakakagambala sa iyo?

(chuckles)

RIZAL

Paumanhin po, Señor. Pero-

(Rizal stands up)


RIZAL

Atención!

(all of the guards ready their muskets)

(Cestaño sees the guards and gestures them to lower their


arms)

RIZAL

Pinapatawad ko kayong lahat. Pinapatawad ko ang lahat ng


aking mga kaaway, pinapatawad ko ang Gobernador Heneral, at
pinapatawad kita, Senyor at lahat ng iba na pumanig sa akin
ng kamatayan. Ngayong natapos na akong kumain ng aking huling
hapunan, nais kong bumalik sa aking silid.

(Cestaño smiles at Rizal’s audacity)

CESTAÑO

Sige, maaari. Guardias, acompañarlo.

*guards, accompany him*

(2 Guards accompany Rizal and leave the dining room, and


Cesteño talks to the 2 priests)

(in a much more sincere, less loud and arrogant tone)

CESTEÑO

Alam niyo, si Rizal ay isang napakatalino at marangal na tao.

Kailangan ng Espanya ng isang taong katulad niya. Tama ang


pilosopiya ni Terrero sakanya.

(leans forward towards the priests, para di siya


mapakinggan ng Guard)

(whispers)
Pero si Polavieja? Mukhang may sama ng loob talagang
nagaganap sa ejecución ni Rizal.
