5. QUESTIONS:
In what ways can I swerve from my hope. V. 23?
Am I in any way trampling Christ underfoot (verse29) by any continued sin?

INTERPRETATION:
1. RELEVANT INFORMATIONM ABOUT GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY AND CULTURE.
(BACKGROUND).
The book of Hebrews probably was written to Hebrew Christians, perhaps to a small group of them
who were capable of being leaders, and who may have been located in Rome.
2. LANGUAGE ( are there any words I need to understand?)
Most Holy Place v.19 = the dwelling place of God.
3. WHAT IS THE PRIMARY MEANING OF THIS PASSAGE?
We must never weaver in our faith in Christ, because of all that he is. We must never let
ourselves be consumed by sin, knowing the dreadful power and holiness of God.
4. WHAT DO I THINK THE ORIGINAL READERS UNDERSTOOD FROM THIS PASSAGE?
That they should cling to faith in Christ rather than reverting to Judaism or sinful worldliness.
5. CROSS REFERENCE:
Eph. 3:12 In Christ and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and
confidence.
1 Cor. 13:7 Love always persevere.
6.CONTEXT: What light does the context shed on my understanding of this passage?
The major theme of Hebrews is that Christ is the eternal, perfect revelation of God, and faith in
him brings full and eternal salvation. All this behind the “THEREFORE” in verse 19.
APPLICATION:
1. Is THERE A COMMAND I should fulfill?
Let us draw near to God = I need to pray about Tim’s confrontation, instead of worrying about it.
2. Is there a PROMISE I should claim?
Christ is our great priest, so I can be confident in coming to God. I can bring all this before him.
3. Is there SIN I should confess/ avoid ?
To shrink back from faith v. 38 is not pleasing to God. Do I really believe God is at work in this
situation.?
4. Is there an EXAMPLE I should follow?
They persevered (32-34) even in the face of sufferings, whatever cost, I should live out my faith
in God.
5. Is there a PROBLEM to solve?
6. What will I DO now to obey? What God is Teaching me in this passage? Spend noon hour today
praying about verse 24-25. How I spur Tim on love and good deeds? How can I encourage him?
