Practices for Lesson 3: Overview

Overview
In these practices, you complete the following tasks:
 Enter time using the web clock interface.
 Generate and view the web clock time card.
Note: The Responsive UI is enabled in this training environment. In order to enable the
Responsive UI and the Time and Labor self-service pages, you must create and enable the
following profile options:
 HCM_RESPONSIVE_PAGES_ENABLED
 HWM_WORKER_RESPONSIVE_PAGES_ENABLED

Practice 3-1: Entering Time Using the Web Clock

Overview
In this practice, you enter time for the current date by using the web clock interface.

Assumptions
Time < 10 minutes

Tasks
1. Sign in and navigate.
a. Sign out and sign in as Your.Worker.
2. Enter time using the web clock.
a. On the Home page, click Me > Web Clock.
b. On the Web Clock page, click the Clock In button.
c. Wait for a few seconds.
d. Click the Out to Meal button.
e. Wait for a few seconds.
f. Click the In from Meal button.
g. Wait for a few seconds.
h. Click the Clock Out button.
i. If the Was a Meal Premium Provided? dialog box appears for you, follow steps j and
k, if not, go to step l.
j. In the Was a Meal Premium Provided? dialog box, select No.
k. Click Submit.
l. Notice the time events show as they are reported in the Daily Time Events section.

Instructor Practice 3-2: Generating and Viewing the Web Clock Time
Card

**********Warning: This practice must be done by only your instructor.**********


If you are taking this class as live virtual classroom or instructor-led training, your instructor
generates and views the web clock time card. If you are taking this class as training on demand,
complete the following task.

Overview
In this practice, you generate the time card from the web clock and review the time entries.

Assumptions
 Time < 5 minutes
 Replace XX with your student number (TL1...TL20) as assigned by your instructor.

Prerequisites
You must have completed the following practice before beginning this one:
 2-1 – Entering Time Using the Web Clock

Tasks
1. Sign in and navigate.
Sign out and sign in as Betty.Anderson.
2. Generate the web clock time card.
a. Click My Client Groups > Time Management.
b. On the Time Management work area, Tasks panel tab, click Manage Scheduled
Processes.
c. On the Manage Scheduled Processes page, click Schedule New Process.
1) In the Schedule New Process dialog box, search for and select Generate Time
Cards from Time Collection Devices.
2) Click OK.
3) On the Process Details dialog box, click Submit.
4) On the Confirmation dialog box, click OK.
d. On the Manage Scheduled Processes page, click the Refresh icon to confirm that
the process Succeeded.
e. Click Done.
3. View the web clock time card.
a. Click the Manage Time Cards tab.
b. In the Manage Time Cards page, Person Name field, enter Your.Worker.
c. In the From Date field, select Monday of the current week.

d. In the To Date field, select Monday of the next week.
e. Click Search.
f. In the Search Results section, check the time card period for the current week. Notice
that the status is Entered because you reported time for only one day.
g. Click the time card period.
1) In the Warning dialog box identifying insufficient rest shifts, click OK.
Note: You will see some invalid In time entry messages along with the insufficient
rest between shifts messages. These messages will not affect this activity.
2) On the Edit Time Card page, notice the payroll time types for the various time
entries. Although you didn't see the time attribute values on the web clock, the
time card includes them because of the web clock button definitions.
3) Click Cancel.
4) On the Warning dialog box, click Yes.
h. On the Manage Time Cards page, delete the time card for the current week to avoid
possible issues with later practices.
i. In the Warning dialog box, click Yes.
j. In the Confirmation dialog box, click the Close icon.

Overview
In these practices, your instructor creates lookup codes for the device supplier and device
supplier events lookup types and sets shift limits. You create time device event mappings and
mapping sets as well as time device and submission rules and rule sets.

Prerequisites
The practices in this course build upon each other. If you are skipping them or performing them
out of sequence, you may not be able to successfully complete the tasks in this and other
practices.

Lookup Code

creates the supplier device lookup code. If you are taking this class as training on demand,
complete the following task.

Overview
In this practice, your instructor creates a supplier device.

Assumptions

Tasks
1. Sign in and navigate.
a. Sign out and sign in as hcm_impl20.
b. In the Settings and Actions menu, select Setup and Maintenance.
c. In the Setup field, select Workforce Deployment.
d. In the Functional Areas list, select Time and Labor.
e. In the Show field, select All Tasks.
2. Create the Time Collection Device Supplier Lookup Code.
a. In the Task list, click Manage Workforce Management Lookups.
b. On the Manage Workforce Management Lookups page, click
ORA_HWM_TCD_SUPPLIERS.
c. On the ORA_HWM_TCD_SUPPLIERS: Lookup Codes section toolbar, click the New
icon to insert a table row.
d. In the inserted row, complete the lookup code details, as shown in this table:

Practice 4-3: Creating Time Device Event Mappings

Overview
In this practice, you create two time device event mappings that map the supplier device events
to the corresponding application events. Also, you associate the device events to the payroll
time types that each worker is eligible for.

Assumptions
 Time < 15 minutes
 Replace XX with your student number (TL1...TL20) as assigned by your instructor.

Prerequisites
You must have completed the following practices before beginning this one:
 4-1 through 4-2

Tasks
1. Sign in and navigate.
a. Ensure that you are signed in as Your.Implementor.
b. Ensure that you are on the Setup: Workforce Deployment page with all tasks
showing for the Time and Labor functional area.
2. Create the Start Shift Event Mapping.
a. Scroll down the task list and click Manage Time Device Event Mapping.
b. On the Manage Time Device Event Mappings page, click the Create icon.
c. On the Create Time Device Event Mapping page, complete the fields, as shown in
this table.

Overview
In this practice, you create a mapping set to group the two time device event mappings.

Assumptions

Prerequisites
You must have completed the following practices before beginning this one:
 4-1 through 4-3

Tasks
1. Sign in and navigate.
a. Ensure that you are signed in as Your.Implementor.
b. Ensure that you are on the Setup: Workforce Deployment page with all tasks
showing for the Time and Labor functional area.
2. Create a Time Device Event Mapping Set.
a. Click Manage Time Device Event Mapping Sets.
b. On the Manage Time Device Event Mapping Sets page, click the Create icon.
c. Complete the fields, as shown in this table.

Instructor Practice 4-5: Setting Shift Limits

If you are taking this class as live virtual classroom or instructor-led training, your instructor sets
the shift limits. If you are taking this class as training on demand, complete the following task.

Overview
In this practice, your instructor edits the properties of the three shifts to include a grace period
and start early and late and end early and late periods.

Assumptions
 Time < 10 Minutes

Tasks
1. Sign in and navigate.
a. Sign in as hcm_impl20.
b. In the Settings and Actions menu, select Setup and Maintenance.
c. In the Setup field, select Workforce Deployment.
d. In the Functional Areas list, select Time and Labor.
e. In the Show field, select All Tasks.
2. Set shift limits.
a. On the Tasks panel tab, click Search.
b. On the Search page, search for and click Manage Shift Properties.
c. On the Manage Shift Properties page, repeat these steps three times to set shift
limits for these shifts: Afternoon Shift, Day Shift, and Standard Hourly 8:30-4:30.
1) Search for and click the shift.
2) On the Edit HR Shifts page, add the shift code:

Practice 4-6: Creating a Time Device Rule

Overview
In this practice, you create a time device rule that compares shift start and end time events with
any payroll time attribute to the scheduled times and defined grace period. If the reported time
events are outside of the allowable period, the device rule displays the appropriate error
message.

Assumptions
 Time < 10 minutes
 Replace XX with your student number (TL1...TL20) as assigned by your instructor.

Prerequisites
You must have completed the following practices before beginning this one:
 4-1 through 4-4

Tasks
1. Sign in and navigate.
a. Ensure that you are signed in as Your.Implementor.
b. Ensure that you are on the Setup and Maintenance page.
c. In the Setup field, select Workforce Deployment.
d. In the Functional Areas list, select Time and Labor.
e. In the Show field, select All Tasks.
2. Create a Time Device Rule.
a. Click Manage Time Repository Rules.
b. On the Manage Rules page, click the Create icon.
1) In the Create Rule dialog box, complete the fields, as shown in table.

c. Click Continue.
d. On the Create Rule: XX Validate Schedule Deviation page, in the Description field,
enter Compare reported shift start and stop times or durations

outside of the schedule times and shift limits, the device rule
displays the appropriate message.

Overview
In this practice, you create a group where you directly include your worker as the sole member.
After creating the group, you refresh membership, view the evaluation status, and then view
group members.

f. Select the Wednesday row to populate the exception type and message in the Time
Entry Exceptions section.
1) Confirm that you have an error message about the late In time entry.
2) Confirm that you have a warning message about the late out time entry.
3) Select Allow Exception for the error and warning exceptions.
4) Click Apply Changes.
Note: Due to an issue in the application, you get an error message: The time card
cannot be submitted due to a system error. Contact your helpdesk. Your changes

payroll time attribute.

Instructor Demonstration L3-1: Creating Web Clock Buttons

Demonstration Overview
In this demonstration, your instructor shows you how to create web clock buttons that store
values for the clock events and Payroll Time Type time attribute.

1. Sign in and navigate.
a. Sign in as hcm_impl20.
b. In the Settings and Actions menu, select Setup and Maintenance.
c. In the Setup field, select Workforce Deployment.
d. In the Functional Areas list, select Time and Labor.
e. In the Show field, select All Tasks.
2. Create the web clock buttons.
a. Click Manage Time Entry Layout Components.
b. On the Manage Layout Components page, click the Create icon.
1) In the Create Layout Component dialog box, select the Web clock buttons
option.
2) Click OK.
c. On the Create Web Clock Buttons: Buttons Definition page, complete the general

a. Ensure that you are signed in as Your.Implementor.
b. Ensure that you are on the Setup: Workforce Deployment page with all tasks showing
for the Time and Labor functional area.
2. Create the web clock layout.
a. Click Manage Time Layout Sets.
b. On the Manage Layout Sets page, click the Create icon.
c. On the Generate Layout Set page:
1) Select the Web clock check box.
2) Ensure that the Project Costing check box is deselected.
3) Ensure that the Payroll check box is selected.
d. Click Generate Layout Set.
e. On the Define Layout Set page, complete the basic information fields, as shown in
this table.

1) In the Edit Layout guided process dialog box, select Hide seconds on clock and
Enable button logic rule.
2) Explain that the Allowable difference between device and network time field
enables you to configure the allowable time disparity between device and network
time while clocking. If the device time does not match with the network time, then
the network time is used on the time event and the device time is saved as
additional information.
c. Click Next.
1) On the Buttons page of the dialog box, click Add in the toolbar to add a row.
