Foreword

This British Standard is published under the authority of the Mechanical


Engineering Industry Standards Committee and is for rivets to basic metric
dimensions. It is based on ISO/Recommendation ISO/R 10511). The snap head
rivet dimensions 14 mm diameter and above have been taken from DIN 1242).
The shapes of heads have been restricted to those in common use in this country.
A chart showing a tentative range of preferred nominal lengths in association
with shank diameters is included in Appendix A which will be reviewed in the
light of usage.
A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a
contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application.

1 Scope 4 Method of manufacture

3 Materials
The rivets shall be made from mild steel, copper,
brass, pure aluminium, aluminium alloys or other
