I. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
It focuses on the basic principle and application on combination of shorthand strokes of English alphabets. One (1) hour lecture and two
(2) hours drills per week.
MISSION: Kalinga State University shall primarily provide higher and advanced education, professional instruction and training in the arts,
agriculture, forestry, social and natural sciences and technology, and other relevant fields of study. It shall also promote and undertake
research and extension services, and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization.

United to comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and to continuously implement a monitoring and evaluation system to

IV. PROGRAM GOALS (Program Goals are the expected outcomes for the BS Office Administration graduates within two to five years)
1. Quality for a career in office administration specifically in various general and specialized administrative support, supervisory, and
managerial positions.
2. Acquire the competencies, skills, knowledge, and work values necessary for self-employment.
Skills:
1. Acquire skills in encoding, taking down dictation, and transcribing legal papers or documents/materials containing medical terms in
proper format
2. Transcribe and encode office documents under the stress of dictation
3. Construct a legible shorthand outline for words in English language
4. Develop students’ ability to construct shorthand outlines of words, brief forms, phrases through stress dictations
5. Take dictation at the rate of 50 words per minute.
6. Transcribe a three-minute dictation with 10% error.
Class Standing = Attendance 5% + Quiz 40% + Recitation 15% + Assignments/Projects 40% = 100%

B. Classroom Policies
In addition to the policies governing students stipulated on the students manual, the following policies be followed:
1. Students are encouraged to have regular attendance.
2. Students while inside the classrooms should observe wearing proper and complete uniform otherwise will be considered absent. He/she
will however, be allowed to stay inside the classroom.
3. Students can use any piece and size of clean paper during quizzes or assignments unless specific instructions were given by the
instructor.
4. Chewing of moma will not be tolerated during class hours.
5. Sharing of inputs/ideas and asking of relevant questions is equivalent to extra points to be added on the total classroom standing.
6. Submission of requirements/researches/portfolio/reports beyond the specified deadline will result to a zero score.
7. Mobile phones and other gadgets must be turned off or on its silent mode during class hours.
8. No unnecessary use of personal computers and other gadgets while class is on-going except for notes taking and search of documents
to support on-going class discussion.
9. Making of researches, assignments and other activities that distract the class are strictly prohibited.
