What have you learned about the last lesson

we've discuss

Okay very good, now is there any clarification

about our last lesson?

D. Engage

a. Motivation

Okay class this time will have a new activity

called food roulette or (game of foods). This
will be the group 1

This will be the group 2

This will be the group 3 and

This will be the group 4.

This will be the mechanics of the game, I will

say a food word and group 1 will say another
food from the last letter of the food given by
the teacher, then group 2 will say another food
from the last letter of the food given by the
group 1, and all follows the same mechanics
until the last group and then end. Another
round will start with the same sequence up to
the next round, each group has 5 seconds to
answer, and we will have 3 rounds, the highest
score will be the winner.

Example. Teacher says "fried chicken"

Group 1 will say "nuggets"

Group 2 will say "soup"

Group 3 will say "popcorn"

Group 4 will say "nuts"

Okay shall we start our round one? (Student Answer)

Group 3 will answer "______"

Group 4 will answer "______"

Are you hungry now class?

I guess so

b. Presentation

So be with this morning as we will discuss

about Digestive System
Digestive System
everybody read

E. Explore

This morning class i will give you another

activity for you. This will be the group 1 and
this side will be the group 2

All you need to do is to draw the digestive

system and answer the blanks with the
corresponding parts base on the description and
in your prior knowledge about the parts of the
digestive system. You can write your answer in
this piece of bondpaper

You only have 5 minutes to answer this

activity.
Students do as told

F. Explain

Food plays a central role in the survival of

species

Class can you live without eating food? No sir

Food gives organism’s energy that enables

them to carry out the many activities that they
do each day, just like us class we eat our
breakfast and then go to school. Other
organisms use the energy in chasing predators
or prey escaping in order to survive

Organisms especially humans can obtain

energy from foods that we eat through
digestion. Digestion of food is carried out by
the organs and substances of the digestive
system.

During digestion, food is broken down into

smaller parts a fraction of which is made up of
nutrients. These nutrients are circulated to the
different parts of the body through the
bloodstream and assimilated by cells.

Almost all animals have digestive systems in

which food enter in mouth, is moved through a
long tube, and exits the anus as feces
In digesting we have mechanical energy and
chemical energy. Class have you observe when
you that you chew your food then mic some
saliva in it? Yes sir
What is the mechanical digestion in happen
when you eat? The chewing of the food sir
Very good

And the chemical digestion? Putting of saliva mix in our food that we
swallow
Exactly!

Now after swallowing the food now turned into

bolus and enters into the esophagus had move
down into the stomach where it mixes with
gastric juices and acids. With other enzymes
such as protease and lipase and help break
down of nutrients and proteins. Digestion ends
in small intestine where nutrients was absorbed
in the Vikki and enter the circulatory system.

Wastes that remain after digestion go to large

intestine where water is also reabsorbed, these
waste including water that was not reabsorbed
will be stored in rectum before they are
excreted out of the body through anus.

I. Elaborate

Oral cavity the cavity of the mouth especially:

the part of the mouth behind the gums and
teeth that is bounded above by the hard and
soft palates and below by the tongue and by the
mucous membrane connecting it with the inner
part of the mandible.

Mouth the oral cavity located at the upper end

of the alimentary canal that opens to the
outside at the lips and empties into the throat at
the rear, and containing structures for
mastication and tasting especially in higher
vertebrates

Tongue the flexible muscular organ situated in

the floor of the oral cavity; it is primarily used
as the main organ of taste, for moving food, in
swallowing, in sound modification in speech

Salivary glands any of various glands that

discharge a fluid secretion and
especially saliva into the mouth cavity
Pharynx It is commonly referred to as the
throat. The pharynx is part of both the
digestive and respiratory systems. For the
digestive system, its muscular walls function in
the process of swallowing, and it serves as a
pathway for the movement of food from the
mouth to the esophagus.

Esophagus is a muscular tube connecting the

throat (pharynx) with the stomach.
The esophagus is about 8 inches long, and is
lined by moist pink tissue called mucosa.
The esophagus runs behind the windpipe
(trachea) and heart, and in front of the spine. ...
They keep food and secretions from going
down the windpipe.

Liver is a large, meaty organ that sits on the

right side of the belly. The liver also detoxifies
chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so,
the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the
intestines. The liver also makes proteins
important for blood clotting and
other functions.

Stomach is a muscular organ located on the left

side of the upper abdomen.
The stomach receives food from the
esophagus. As food reaches the end of the
esophagus, it enters the stomach through a
muscular valve called the lower esophageal
sphincter. The stomach secretes acid and
enzymes that digest food.

Gallbladder is a pear-shaped, hollow structure

located under the liver and on the right side of
the abdomen. Its primary function is to store
and concentrate bile, a yellow-brown digestive
enzyme produced by the liver. The gallbladder
is part of the biliary tract

Pancreas is an organ located in the abdomen. It

plays an essential role in converting the food
we eat into fuel for the body's cells. The
pancreas has two main functions: an exocrine
function that helps in digestion and
an endocrine function that regulates blood
sugar. The small intestine has three distinct
regions the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum.

Small Intestine is the part of the

gastrointestinal tract between the stomach and
the

Large intestine, and is where most of the end

absorption of food takes place. The small
intestine has three distinct regions the
duodenum, jejunum, and ileum.

Rectum is a chamber that begins at the end of

the large intestine, immediately following the
sigmoid colon, and ends at the anus (see also
Overview of the Anus and Rectum). Ordinarily,
the rectum is empty because stool is stored
higher in the descending colon.

Anus is the last part of the digestive tract. It is

a 2-inch long canal consisting of the pelvic
floor muscles and the two anal sphincters
(internal and external). The lining of the upper
anus is specialized to detect rectal contents. It
lets you know whether the contents are liquid,
gas, or solid.
