7. Evaluate lim (x2 - 4)/(x – 2) as x approaches 2

Solution:

limx=2 [(x – 2)(x + 2)]/(x – 2)

= x+2

= 2 +2 = 4

Answer. A. 4

8.Evaluate lim x sin(pi/x) as x approaches to infinity.

Solution:

limx=∞ x sin (π /x) = limx=∞ [cos (π/x)][ π][(-1/x2)/(-1/x2)]

Answer. C. π

9. Evaluate limx=1 (2 – x) tan(pi x/2) .

Solution:

Let: y = (2 – x) tan(pi x/2)

ln y = ln (2 – x) tan(pi x/2)
