mindset having different mindset in the way they facing these uncertain and challenging time, each with Formatted: Strikethrough
a different mindset. One type mindset increases stress and anxiety in you; while other helps you keep
calm and see things clearly. Formatted: Strikethrough
Formatted: Strikethrough

If you find this video useful, then please do like, share, and subscribe to my channel. This is my first
video and it will encourage me to share with you the topics closer to my heart.

I have seen two types of coping mindset in people facing this tumultuous time not seen or experienced Formatted: Strikethrough
by our generation. I will tell you how you can identify the mindset you carry and guide you on the right
mindset you should have to face and emerge victorious from this covid-19 pandemic. This can be
applied to any calamity or dreadful times we face in our life.
Do you keep thinking of:
• You or someone in your family will get sick
• Your investments, such as retirement or college savings, will be negatively impacted
• You will lose income due to a workplace closure or reduced hours
• You will not be able to afford testing or treatment if you need it
• You will put yourself at risk of exposure to the virus because you can’t afford to stay home and
miss work
• Hoard supplies like food | toilet paper | sanitizers | medicines etc.
• Complain about things or get irritated
• Obsessively read and watch news about the virus outbreak
• Keep thinking or goading over the disturbing photos or news
• Distrust your local authority or the medical experts on their advice and efforts towards
controlling the covid-19 virus spread

If you are doing any of the above then you have a fearful mindset. Having a fearful mindset will not help
you to cope with this uncertain period. People will experience Loneliness + Traumatic stress during
these trying times but

1. Your constant negative thinking will only increase your anxiety level and bring on more stress.

2. Hoarding of essentials items will undue strain on the supplies and also increase the price of
supplies thus making it expensive for the poor people and making it difficult for aged to get hold
on the essential supplies.

3. Complaining or not trusting the authority or agency handling the control and prevention of
corona virus will just create more panic and distrust for people around you. This helps no one.

4. So does forwarding panic driven messages without verifying or giving it a second thought. This is
quite unnecessary.

How if I tell you that, we can replace the fear mindset with a growth oriented mindset. I know it’s not a
simple copy and paste thing; you need to train your brain to think and act in a certain way. It has to be a
conscious effort from our side.

Everyone is bound to have fear about the pandemic but a person with growth mindset will find ways to
keep that fear back of their mind and actively engage their mind in positive activities.

I will share with you few tips which helped me in my journey to have a growth mindset – positive and
empathetic attitude to deal with the challenging and uncertain times like the current covid-19
pandemic.

1. Take care of the controllable. Don’t feel bogged down by things which you can’t control.
2. Identify and acknowledge emotions and vulnerabilities of yourself as well as people around you.
Remember everyone needs an ear at this moment of crisis.
3. Keep away from negative news. Read, think and if possible verify before you forward messages
which might create unwanted panic.
1. Engage your mind in things which will make you more productive.( Engage your mind in positive
things. Try your hand at cooking new recipes, Try some handcrafting skills, Try to indulge in activities
which due to lack of time you were not able to pursue.)
5. Take this opportunity to bond with your family, (spend time with kids by talking and learning
from them (trust me we don't realize but kids can teach us many things which we miss due to
our hectic schedule). Stay connected with friends and family via Skype, Facetime, email,
messenger and text,. Setup time with your elderly parents through video calls. Listen to their
concerns and share yours. Take this opportunity to strengthen your bond with your family.)
6. Not only take care of your own-self but also the society you stay in. Keep your mind healthy
practice meditation. (It’s essential to make your health a priority during this time. As always
sleep, physical exercise and a healthy diet is a must. Maintain a routine for yourself. This can
also reduce stress. Practice mindfulness and try not think of the future or worst-case scenarios.)
7. Show empathy and appreciation to the frontline people who are fighting the corona pandemic.
You little simple gestures will sure make their day. Keep their sacrifices in your memory long
after this crisis is gone.
8. Be understanding of the increased hardship on the vulnerable people of our society. (Helping
others also serves the purpose of helping the helper. Volunteer yourself or help in kind to the
various government special funds or NGO who are engaged in easing the pain. This will give you
the most satisfaction)
9. Make sensible use of the limited resources available during these trying time. Don’t waste food
or other essentials.
10. Follow the instruction and advice given by the respective authorities and agencies. Show the
required trust in them.
11. Learning new skillsets which will complement your current ones. (Take advantage of the time on
hand and free resources on EdX, coursera and other internet sites to learn and sharpen your skill
sets. This is an unprecedented calamity impacting all industries irrespective of the geographies,
There will be job losses but as history has shown us, after every tumultous downward in world
economy there will be better opportunities available when the upturn starts. One should take
this time to think carefully and invest in themselves so that when such opportunities come up,
they are rightly position to make best of it.)

Everyone acknowledges this is not an easy time but it is a time that require everyone to walk the same
path; only then can we overcome these unprecedented times.

It’s is natural to experience stress and anxiety but being aware of the stressors will aid us in facing them
positively. What we require is to keep our mind in a positive frame of mind.

When we emerge from this crisis we sure will have a better appreciation and respect for our fellow
humans and citizens.

Do let me know what you think about this video. I have made a conscious decision to keep my fearful
mindset at bay and have a learning growth mindset. Hope you will do the same.
Remember - Every sunset is followed by a bright sunrise……Keep safe stay home keep learning keep
helping
