    from selected whole Golden Berries (Physalis). No sugar added. No preservatives.

    DRIED GOLDEN BERRIES
    NUTRITION FACTS

    Scientific studies of the golden berry show its


    polyphenols and carotenoids demonstrate anti-
    inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

    Also is characterized for being an excellent source of


    pro vitamin A (3000 I.U. of carotene per 100 grams)
    and vitamin C. It also possesses some of the complex
    vitamin B. In addition, its contents of protein (0.3%)
    and phosphate (55%) are exceptionally high for a fruit.
    Actually it ha s an important use with therapeutic objectives, since according to
    experts it helps to purify the blood, expels the albumin from the kidneys, fortifies the
    optical nerve and alleviates infections of the mouth and pharynx. It is
    recommended for persons with all kinds of diabetes and incipient arthritis because
    of its rich contents of vitamin A.

    In folk medicine it has been used as a medicinal herb for cancer, malaria, asthma,
    hepatitis, dermatitis and rheumatism. It favors persons with prostate problems
    thanks to its diuretic properties and in addition it is utilized as a natural tranquilizer
    for its contents of flavonoids.

    The berries when dried make a tart and nutritious snack (“raisin”) for children and
    make a great candy replacement. The berries can be used in smoothies, pies,
    cookies, energy bars and desserts.

    HEALTH BENEFITS

    The seed inside the berry has a mild laxative effect. This
    coupled with the high pectin and fiber levels in the fruit
    make golden berries and excellent food for intestinal
    health and elimination assistance. Since the fruits are
    exceptionally high in protein (16%) they make a great
    snack for vegetarians and body builders.
