A brief description of your employment background before DOLE including 1 significant

accomplishment, if any…
-Started as a casual clerk in 2004, and got a permanent item in 2009 as ADA VI, then rose
through the ranks---LEOII, LEO III, and Sr. LEO. Significant accomplishment: designation as
Admin Staff at POLO Milan, Italy fromFeb 2016 to July 2019

In case your first employment is at DOLE, what made you decide to join this organization
considering it as your first employer? Are you planning to work in DOLE up to your retirement?
-I was encouraged by my father to apply at DOLE RO2. He insisted that I should enter
government service bec of security of tenure. At first, I was hesitant because I really wanted then
to work overseas but eventually I acceded. At the moment I am enjoying my stint with the
Department. And I believe my career growth in the Department is doing good, hence, it is but fair
to serve the Department til my services are needed.

Service record & basic background info only…… (c/o HRMO Regie, ako na lng po magtatanong)

What were your (work-related) struggles in your early years in DOLE and how did you overcome
it?
- The orientation I had when I was in school was more of an ideal work environment where
everyone and everything must be in accord with existing norms, laws and guidelines, which
however, was and is not the reality in the world of work. So that as a newbie then in the
Department, I had to adjust myself which I did in such a way that it did not compromise the
quality of my work, my work ethics, and integrity. And to this date, I still hold on to my
principle in life which is to work with integrity and never to succumb to worldly temptations.

What made you decide to take up a degree in Bachelor of Laws? The challenges and you’re your
inspirations during your schooling.
- As I grew up in the Department, I saw the need to effect changes in the system where I am
slowly building my career. So that I have to start with myself. I need to further my
academic qualification so I could have a better chance of moving upward and be given the
change to employ changes, albeit in my own little way.
- One of the difficulties of a working student is time management. I am just fortunate to have
people around me who guided me all throughout and who understood what I was doing
then. So that I just had to balance my role as a wife, a mother to three children, a DOLE
employee, and a law student.
- I finished my law degree because of my father who really saw and believed in my potential.
I am realizing the dreams of my father, for I know that his dreams were not for himself but
for my children and family.

What particular career plan that came immediately into your mind upon passing the Bar
Examination? How about your long-term plan?
- All I wanted when I passed the bar is to become a Me-Arb so that in 2016 when I came to
know of a vacancy in DOLE RO2 for the position of MedArb, I immediately submitted my
application letter having in my mind that with my more than ten (10) years of work
experience as DOLE RO2 employee, especially that I grew up in the Labor Relations
Division then, that I will qualify but sad to note that the qualifications for said position is
more than that. But that did not dampen my spirit.
- My long term career plan is to work harder so I could realize the career path which I had
drawn in my mind and that is to become a part of the corps of managers of DOLE.
Please share brief experience/s about your tour of duty in POLO Italy and include also 1 or 2 of
your significant accomplishments……
- I was an OWWA Designate Admin Staff at POLO Milan from Feb 2016 to July 2019. Prior to my
deployment, I underwent series of trainings and job immersion, i.e. NLRC, NCMB, POEA, OWWA.
The manpower complements of OWWA at POLO Milan consist of one Welfare officer and one
Admin. Staff so that both must know the overall operations, admin and program implementation, of
the Office. As an admin staff, I had to learn and to know everything. So that for the whole duration
of my tour of duty, I and my Welfare Officer had executed our duties and responsibilities
accordingly, and it had benefited our clients, the OFWs and their families and other overseas
Filipinos in Milan, Italy.
- For more than three years in Milan I was able to appreciate my work there because I was
given the chance to see and experience firsthand the sweetness and harshness of being an
OFW. I witnessed the plight of our OFWs in Italy. The host country has very good labor
laws so our OFWs in said country are well protected except for few who are working without
valid contract. Most of the issues and concerns of OFWs in said country domestic in
nature. I for myself have to mediate and conciliate issues between and among OFWs and
their families. There were also times that my opinion is sought to shed light on certain legal
matters affecting our OFWs which I provided with a caveat that the opinions I gave to them
were my personal opinions. And I am glad that I once worked at POLO Milan because
such experience was life changing. It made me a better person.

How did you find yourself being the new OIC-ARD of our Office? Please share also your future
plans /contributions (innovations, if any) in achieving our mission/vision considering DOLE RO2 as
a team.
- The designation was unexpected. It happened so fast. I was not prepared to become the
caretaker of the Office of the ARD. But then, like I always say, I am not in a position to
question the wisdom of God because I believe everything happens for a reason. So that
with the new designation, I am humbled. I am grateful to our beloved Secretary, through the
recommendation of our Regional Director who saw my potential, my capabilities and my
commitment to my oath of office in spite of the fact that she barely knows me, I only
reported at DOLE RO2 last August 2019 and then was designated as OIC-ARD on 18 Nov
2019. I know much is expected from. So that as a newbie in the field of management, I
have to strive harder, and exert an extra mile to compensate the trust and confidence
bestowed upon me and to give justice to my new designation.
- I believe that with the support and cooperation of all DOLE RO2 employees, we will excel in
the delivery of basic services to the public which are in line with our mandate. The regional
Director has great plans for the Office, and I as the OIC-ARD shall provide her the support
and assistance she needs in the realization of said plans. With the cooperation of DOLE
RO2 family, I envision a DOLE RO2 with efficient, competent and productive manpower
working in technology driven workplace. With these, DOLE RO2 shall be in the roadmap to
success in terms of public service.

What do you think and feel about your personality which is easily & most noticeable by our
colleagues?
- I have a strong personality, I just don’t know if others perceived me that way. I suggest
other office personnel should respond to this question, thank you.

Your words of encouragement to those who are still starting their life in the world of work
especially in DOLE RO2, in case….
- Dream big, it is free.
