The career stages of teachers are the following: Beginning, proficient, highly
proficient, and distinguished.

2. How will you go to the next higher career stage?


I can go to the next higher career stage by engaging myself to activities which
could help me develop in my profession.

3. Is it possible for a beginning teacher to stay in 1 career stage for 5–10


years? Why or why not?
Yes, it is possible. One can stay in 1 career stage for 5-10 years if he is being
idle. If one does not engage in developing skills, he/she will not really grow.

1. What is the difference between domains and strands, and strands


and indicators?
Domains are general in nature. Strands are more specific dimensions
of teacher practice under every domain. And indicators are the
concrete and observable manifestation that the domains and strands
are being achieved.

2. Why do we need to set standards for teachers?


Standards ensure better accountability – holding teachers and schools
responsible for what goes on in the classrooms. The practice of aligning
learning to standards also helps ensure that a higher level of learning is
attained, guides teachers in the process of assessment and helps keep them
on track.
3. As a beginning teacher, which do you consider as the most important
among the seven domains? Justify your stand.
Content knowledge and pedagogy. Because one cannot be considered a
teacher without having a mastery of the subject matter that he is teaching.

be knowledgeable and has the mastery of the subject matter
that he is teaching.

E. What I Realize
Read thoroughly Domain 3 Diversity of Learners particularly the three
indicators in the beginning and proficient teachers. Answer the questions
that follow.
1. What teaching practices do you think are responsive to the call of the
indicators in Domain 3 to address diversity of learners?

Teaching practices under 3.1.1 until 3.3.2 because these talks about
the strategies needed to accommodate the different needs of the
learners.

2. To address learner diversity, what teaching practices would you employ to


enable you to move from beginning to the proficient career stage?

I will use differentiated and appropriate teaching strategies to cater the


various needs of my students. I will also design. Plan, and implement my
own materials to personalize it for all my learners.

Reflection

As a teacher, what are the indicators under beginning stage that you can do? Is
it possible that you can move to the higher career stage? Knowing where you are,
what professional development goals could you prepare based on your strength and
areas for improvement?

I strongly believe that I can do all the indicators under the beginning stage
which fall under the content knowledge and pedagogy. As a teacher, I know that I
can move to the higher career stage for I am doing everything that I could to
improve myself and my practices as a teacher. I will set high expectations for
student achievement and use the most-recent educational technology.
