1. Purpose
 This method statement covers the requirement and procedure of PCCP Demolition for Alignment B.

2. Scope
 This item of work shall consist of the Demolition of existing PCCP @ Alignment B for the preparation of
embankment layers in accordance with the DPWH Standard Specifications for Highways, Bridges and
Airports and in conformity to lines, grades and dimensions shown on the plans or established by the
Employer Representative

3. Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of the Project Manager and concerned Site personnel to ensure that all activities are
performed in compliance with this Procedure and applicable Contract Specifications. On projects where
designated QC Engineers are not available, the Site Engineer will be responsible for performing the duties of the
QC Engineer.

4. Work Methodology

 - Secure necessary permits prior to any construction activities.

 - Lay-out the areas to be removed. (Left lane)
 - Contact the respective utility company to mark where any phone lines, cable lines or other utility lines
may intersect with the pavement. Which means you need to have city utility locations clearly
marked in advance to avoid costly damages
 - Isolate the area to be demolished with appropriate barrier to protect adjacent properties from debris.
 - Saw the affected concrete with the use of diamond-bladed cut saws for full depth transverse cut.
(Concrete cutter with water).
 - By the use of Jackhammer mounted on backhoe, Punch a hole in a staggered manner for easy
Removal/demolition of PCCP.
 - Removed the debris with use of Backhoe/Loader and Dump truck.
 - Disposed the debris in an approved dump site.
 - Installation of road and safety signage.
 - Provide Flagman on both ends of work areas to control the traffic.
 - Same steps/procedure will be followed for the right lane demolition.
Note : Strict traffic management will be implemented.

5.2 Safety equipment.

i. Thick gloves.
ii. Goggles
iii. Ear protective gear.
iv. Dust mask.
v. Steel toe.
vi. Clothes thick enough to cover you from the debris.
vii. Wear proper PPE.

5.3 Equipment

i. Dump truck
ii. Backhoe with mounted Jackhammer.
iii. Concrete cutter.
iv. Tower Light
v. Loader. (Dump site area).

5. Safety Precautions.

Safety tool box meeting shall be conducted everyday to remind workers about concerning the safety.
All workers shall be provided with PPE(PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT) and shall be
Worn at all time on site. Safety Manager/Safety supervisor shall insure all the workers wear all the Safety
equipment provided.
All workers shall be advised to report any accident or injury to supervisor.
Proper and adequate provision of signage’s and barricades at diversions and temporary haul road as
Necessary.
Prime importance shall be given for personnel safety and protection of utility lines/services. It shall be
insure that the personnel involved are aware about the company safety regulation and confirmed that the
machinery are regularly maintained. Further to above, the following key points shall be considered
important.

a) All moving vehicle/equipment shall have reverse horn.

b) Transporting of person per vehicle is restricted to the number of seats available.
c) Road safety sign /road diversion sign shall be installed wherever applicable for the safe Movement of
vehicles or equipment.

7. Environmental Protection Procedures.

All workers shall educate on good environment management practices and well discipline to environment. The
garbage bin shall be provided at the working area and supervisor shall insure its must be collected regularly and
disposed off at the approved dump site.

All workers shall insure that all tools and equipment machinery are in good condition to avoid any oil leakage that
could harm to environment.
