Atlas Mining and the Amiko Mine in New Caledonia

Amiko Mine is located in New Caledonia, 14,000km from Trois-Rivieres.

 It is difficult for the customer to coordinate the shipment while it was still in Canada.
 The main problem for the Amiko Mine was therefore starting the export process,
positioning the container.

 If the mine coordinates:

 Which road transport operator would it select to drive the container from the Atlas
mining Plant to the port of Montreal?
 How would it ensure from far away that the container had been properly delivered for
shipment on the planned vessel?

 Solution: Hire a freight forwarder in Canada to delegate this task to a local firm.

The recommded Incoterm to the case is EXW in which the risk and cost of transportation
would be transfer to the buyer of the product or services. This Incoterm would be suitable for
the seller, thus it represents the minimum obligation for them.

ProLab+ and Clinica Alana

 The contract involved the equivalent of two containers of various pharmaceutical

products representing two years of supplies for the private clinic, which preferred to
renew its inventory with frequency to take advantage of considerable volume savings.
 The two containers represented an extremely high value.
 The manager was concerned that the containers could be opened, and the products stolen
on route.
 The deliver could be delayed due to high traffic.
 In Chile the clinic has a procurement agent for medical supplies.
 The clinic prefers to arrange its own local transport companies.
 The main concern is the condition of the merchandise upon arrival.
 The value of the supplies represents an enormous purchase.
 To bring down costs the agent hopes to benefit from the large company they are buying
from.
The best recomeneded Incoterm would be FCA (Free Carrier), it is due to the fact that it
provides Clinica Alana the options to select the best transportation mode it would be most
comfortable with. Since, Prolab+ has been seeking to meet the requirmemnts of customer to
make the sale and the Clinica Alana’ main concern was the condition of products upon its arrival
at the destination, so the seller would be bearing risk and cost for the good’s shipment

Cirque Heisphere and the Athens theatre

 Montreal based.
 The warehouse value was approximately $100,000.
 The director of the theater is sensitive to the expenses involved.
 The customer has Little experience with transcontinental shipping materials.
 The director doesn’t want to worry about maritime transport, import procedures or
delivery of the merchandise to the theater.
 But he knows a few local transport operators as well as customs brokers he could hire to
clear the containers in Greece and deliver them to the theatre.
 Cirque has never shipped to Greece.
 The customs clearance and the payment of customs fees could be long and complicated.

so under this scenario, the recommended Incoterm is FAS, in which the seller or Cirque
Hemisphere would be responsible to arrange transportation of the goods to the theatre, but the
seller would no longer be liable to insure the shipment of the product.
