Material: ⇒100 Cr6, refer to the part list of the respective cylinder roller for the correct specification
Values which are required for the finished part: For Hardness, Microstructure, Geometry , refer to the respective drawing of
the cylinder roller

Instructions for packaging the batches:

In order to guarantee an uniform heat treatment for the cylinder rollers, the following reservations are to be applied:

- Max. batch size for heat treatment in the furnace: 100kg


- The cylinder rollers must not be subjected to heat treatment together with objects or cylinder rollers having other
geometries
Specifications for the execution of heat treatment:
1. Surface conditions and machining conditions at the time of delivery (e.g.: Chippings, scales due to casting, rolling, forging, salt and
lubrication residues etc.):
According to material order specification, refer to parts list , parts acc. to drawing, however, with grinding allowance.
2. Microstructure condition or the heat treatment carried out last (e.g.: quenched and tempered, normalised, carburised, unknown,…)

5. Intermediate test (e.g. Minimum hardness before annealing, dimensional accuracy): Samples of each raw material batch which are not
hardened must be tested for carbide network (CN4). Samples of each raw material batch must be tested for carbide network (CN5),
Carbide binding (CZ6 or CZ7) and Martensite needle length acc. to material order specification, hardness before annealing to be
minimum 63 HRC, for hardness values after annealing, refer to the drawing.
6. Trueing (e.g.: limitation range, dimension, tolerances, temperature): -not allowed

7. Post-treatment (e.g. : washed, radiated, etched, lubricated, corrosion-protected): Grinding to final dimensions acc. to drawing

8. Checking (e.g.: acc. to test program, drawing): After finishing, repeat hardness measurement, test acc. to test specifications, refer to
parts list

9. Others: Double or post hardning not allowed. Microstructure examination for each furnace once per shift. Tracability of parts till the
last microsture inspection is mandatory. Microstructure must be according to material order specification (see parts list).
Maximum time between hardening an annealing is 12 hours. Furnaces must be equipped with process monitoring and alarms for
parameters out of tolerance. After maintenance or process changes and at least once a year the correct annealing must be
controlled: sample parts will be annealed again for 60 minutes (+5 min) @ 180°C (+/-5°C), a reduction of hardness is not allowed,
and measurement uncertanties must be considered.
