Q1. You are working in YZA restaurant as a manager. There are two counters in the
restaurant, Counter A and Counter B, through which customers are served. The owner
wants to compare the efficiency of teams working on Counter A and Counter B. He asks you
to analyze the situation and report back. You decide to study wait times on both the counters.
The data collected by you (in minutes) is presented in Table F1 as under: [Total Marks: 05]
Observation Counter A Counter B
1 11 8
2 6 13
3 19 18

6 17 6
7 11 5
8 8 12
9 16 10
10 7 19
Table F1
You prepare a report with the following three sections:
The first section of your report is prepared by visually representing the wait times of
customers at Counter A and Counter B using box plots on the same diagram. [02 Marks]
In second section of your report you compare wait time of 16 minutes on Counter A and
Counter B using Z-Score to tell which team is providing better customer service.
[02 Marks]
The third section of your report is the conclusion about which counter team is performing
better based on average wait times. [01 Mark]
Please clearly mention Section I, Section II and Section III in the answer. All workings need to
be shown on the answer script.
Q2. Table F2 shows the data of Modern Computers advertising expense and corresponding
sales for the past 6 years: [08 Marks. Each part carries equal marks]

a) Develop a scatter chart for the data with advertising expense as the independent variable.
What does the scatter chart indicate about the relationship between advertising expense and
sales?
b) Develop an estimated regression equation showing how advertising expense is related to
sales. Also plot this equation on the scatter chart?
c) Calculate correlation coefficient and coefficient of determination. Interpret the results
obtained.
d) Suppose the company is planning to spend 12 million rupees on advertising. Use the
estimated regression equation developed in part b to predict sales. In your opinion should
we use the result obtained. Why or why not?

a) Do hierarchical clustering by single linkage method. Make the dendrogram also.
b) Perform K-means clustering with k=3 and initial starting values as:
Plot the final clusters also with the help of the scatter chart.
Q4. You are working in YZA restaurant as a manager. The restaurant owner is interested
in association rules mining for finding frequent item sets and association rules. He assigns
you this task. You gather the transactional information of meals being sold at the restaurant
which are presented in Table F4: [Total Marks: 08]
