System Function
The Bulkhead Module (BHM) is a microcontroller with flash memory. Each BHM
is programmed and configured with reference parameters for a specific serial
number truck. If required, this module can be reprogrammed through the J1939
data bus after it is installed on the truck. The BHM supports both the J1939 and
J1587 databuses.
The BHM mounts through a hole in the bulkhead and has harness connections both
in the engine compartment and cab interior. The BHM uses Field Effect
Transistors (FET) to monitor current flow and protect the module circuits. These
transistors disconnect circuits if current flow becomes too high.
There are two versions of the Bulkhead Module:
32A-001 Standard Bulkhead Multiplexing Unit
32A-002 Upgraded Bulkhead Multiplexing Unit
The Upgraded BHM is required with any of the following options:
• Fuel/water separator with indicator
• Air Dryer
• Heated Mirrors
Data code 32A-002 should be specified if any of the above listed options will be
installed locally.
