6 Esomeprazol

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis. It works by inhibiting gastric acid secretion. It can be used for short-term treatment of heartburn and other GERD symptoms, as well as long-term maintenance therapy for erosive esophagitis. Common side effects include headache, dizziness, and diarrhea. Nurses should monitor for potential drug interactions and side effects, educate patients on proper administration, and ensure follow up evaluation after 4 weeks of therapy.
