2. Welcome the gathering
Honourable Chief Guest Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, beloved director Dr. N R Parasuraman,
conference chair Dr. M Sriram, Invitees, faculty members and all my dear friends, Sri
Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Institute for management and development, takes pride in
welcoming you all to the 8th international conference on emerging trends in corporate
finance and financial markets 2019.
With its overwhelming success and resounding responses since past seven years, this
conference on emerging trends in corporate finance and financial markets has created a
platform for a host of participants from across the globe. Academicians, researchers and
practising executives have come together to ponder and deliberate over measures that needs
to be executed to put India firmly on the global map.

May I now call upon our conference chair Dr. M Sriram to give us a brief introduction of
International Finance conference 2019 and its proceedings.

6. Profile of the chief guest Dr. Bhimaraya Metri
Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every
society, in every family
True to which, on this occasion we are extremely delighted to have an eminent scholar, a
power house of knowledge, our chief guest Dr. Bhimaraya Metri. We are particularly happy
that he will be sharing with us, his thoughts and ideas on the topic Fraud, Corruption and
Bribery: How to detect and how to prevent
Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Tiruchirappalli is a distinguished academician, renowned
teacher, notable researcher and an astute administrator. An outstanding leader of management
education, he has performed key leadership roles at many premier management institutes and
corporate in his remarkable career. Under his dynamic leadership, IIM Tiruchirappalli has
attained a position among the league of top business schools in India. He has also contributed
immensely as Dean at L& T Institute of Project Management Vadodara, IMI New Delhi,
MDI Gurgaon and leading research progammes at BITS Pilani.

A renowned expert in the area of project management, quality management and supply chain
management, he has numerous research articles and books to his credit apart being on the
editorial advisory boards of several national and international journals.

Currently, Dr. Metri is the Chairman of Resource Management Sectional Committee of


Bureau of Indian Standards, Chairman, Board of Studies, All India Management Association,
New Delhi; Member of the committee constituted by AICTE for evolving the governance
structure in AICTE approved PGDM institutions; Member of the Committee to look into the
domain areas for open and distance learning courses in respect to stand alone-institutions; He
is also a Member of the Governing Council of Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural
History(SACON) Coimbatore under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate
Change, Govt. of India; Member, Academic Council, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University
and many more institutions and universities.

Dr. Metri is the first Indian elected as the Vice President, Asia Pacific Division, Decision
Sciences Institute, (DSI), Houston, Texas, USA. He was leader of the two Indian delegations
to Bali, Indonesia for ISO/ TC 260 and to Amersfoort, Netherlands for ISO/ TC 251, for
development of international standards. He was a member of the International Academic
Review Committee for Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat Oman; Member, ABMC
Accreditation Panel, Osaka, Japan; Member, Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU).

He has also served earlier as a member of various national committees of higher education
constituted by government and professional bodies. He was Chairman/member of several
committees of All Indian Council for Technical Education(AICTE), National Board of
Education (NBA),UK-India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI), Association of Indian
Universities(AIU), Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU), IIM Kozhikode
Society, State Electricity Advisory Committee –Uttarakhand, Electricity Regulatory
Commission (UERC), Uttarakhand, Principal Technical Agency (PTA) for Pradhan Mantri
Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Projects of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, and Indian
Institute of infrastructure and Construction (IIIC), Government of Kerala.

Dr. Metri has trained more than 600 Directors, Deans, Principals and HODs of leading
Engineering Institutes including NITs under World Bank assisted project of MHRD to
improve the quality of technical education in the country. He is profoundly involved with
executive education including international training with a wide range of organizations
including MNCs, leading organizations of government, public sector (Maharatna &
Navaratna companies), private sector and foreign government bodies.

Dr. Metri has provided consultancy to various premier organizations like, National Thermal
Power Corporation (NTPC), Army Ordinance Corps (AOC), Delhi Transport Corporation
(DTC), Railway Land Development Authority etc.

Widely travelled all over the world across four continents and 25 countries, he has visited a
large number of Business Schools and Universities in these countries and has led a successful
national and international Accreditation & Re-accreditation programme, led a Curriculum
Review Committee that undertook a major overhaul of the PGDM programmes. He has been
instrumental in enhancement of physical and intellectual infrastructure and increased the
strength of PGDM programmes for successfully positioning MDI Gurgaon, IMI Delhi and
IIM Tiruchirappalli amongst the leading Business Schools of the country.

For such illustrious contributions to the society, he has been bestowed with several
prestigious awards and recognition like being awarded with the country’s prestigious AIMA-
Kewal Nohria Award for Academic Leadership in Management Education, Distinguished
Services Award by Asia Pacific Decision Sciences Institute, Top Director Award and
Distinguished Alumnus Award- Prerana Purshkar.

Dr. Metri received his Ph.D from IIT Powai, Mumbai. Dr. Metri is the member of Decision
Sciences Institute (DSI) USA and Institute of Supply Management (ISM) USA.

I would request Dr. N R Parasuraman, to extend our heart-felt wishes to Dr. Bhimaraya

Out of many research papers received, the copy of one’s selected for the international finance
conference 2019 have been consolidated in the form of Ebook- ISBN. I request the guests to
release the multiple copies of the same.
9. Inviting chief guest to deliver the key note address
I would like to call upon Dr. Bhimaraya Metri to address the gathering

10. Inviting faculty to give away the memento
