1 Note 1. Pumps and motors to be replaced for existing pumps, 13-G-21A/B. Refer Mechanical Design Specification Doc No. 58QJ9860-MCH-01001 Rev
2 for the requirements.
3 2. Re-use existing seal flush skid if possible. ADD note flowserve to evaluate
4 3. Pump rated capacity includes 5% capacity for warm up facilities.
5 4. The datasheet NPSH available is the calculated NPSH available (based on minimum elevations) divided by 1.1. An allowance of 1 psi is included
6 for suction strainer.
7 5. The seal shall be constructed in accordance with API 682,4TH Edition & GP 10-01-03. Seal category 2 is applicable. Arrangement 3 pressurized
8 double seals are required (Seal Plan 54). All pump mechanical seals and sealing systems shall be supplied by Flowserve. All applications must
9 be reviewed and approved by Flowserve's Joliet Refinery on-site seal specialist prior to submittal to the Owner's Engineer for approval.
10 6. Pumps shall be designed and built according to GP 10-01-01 which includes API Standard 610, 11th Edition. The material class (modified) C
11 designations for centrifugal pumps shall correspond to those given in API Standard 610, 11th Edition.
12 7. Instrumentation requirements proposed by vendor shall be reviewed by Machinery and Instrumentation specialist.
13 8. All centrifugal pumps are to be supplied with impellers at least 5% smaller in diameter than the largest impeller that can be installed. The
14 largest impeller diameter that can be installed in a casing offered by a vendor must be demonstrated either by test or by operating experience.
15 9. Vendors to comply with the noise specifications in GP 02-01-01 (Table 5 for Sound Pressure ) and associated datasheets/specifications.
16 Vendor to provide a sound level certificate for pump and motor in dBA for information. If a vendor is unable to meet the noise requirements,
17 ExxonMobil shall be notified of appropriate alternatives.
18 10. Pumps should be selected with NPSH margin of at least 3 ft at rated conditions. Margins of 3 ft or less require NPSHR and performance testing.
19 11. Maximum temperature based on pump casing design temperature. Site Critical Exposure Temperature is -20°F.
20 12. Pumps with a normal operating temperature of 400ºF shall require warm-up facilities as specified by the Owner's Engineer.
21 13. For pumps operating above 400°F, bearing cooling water is required.
22 14. 1/4" to 1/2" coke particles typical in addition to fine coke solids. Vendor to provide recommendation or alternate option to mitigate coke crushing C
15. Coupling shall be capable of transmitting the maximum torque developed by the driver with the defined normal operating service factor. Also, the coupling
23 shall be sized for a minimum transient torque of 400%.
16. Bearings shall be supplied by SKF or MRC. Thrust bearings shall be back to back angular contact, with machined bronze cages only. Any other type or brand
thrust bearing must be approved by the Owner's Engineer. Loose bearing fits to shaft are not acceptable. Spot welded type ball or roller retainers (cages) are not
acceptable for any bearings.
24
17. If cylindercal roller beargins are used for radial bearings, they shall be of the SKF NU type. The pump bearing housing and shaft design shall prevent the
inner and outer bearing races from inadvertent axial movement.
25
26 18. All seal glands shall be equpped with an additional port labeled "IP" (for instrument port). In general, location of the port shall be between seal.
19. Couplings shall have a 0.000" +/- 0.0005" diametrical fit and be held by a set screw over the key or other suitable means. The operating magnetic center shall
be set by the motor manufacturer or pump system vendor and marked on the coupling end of the motor shaft. This should be used when the pump and motor are
27 assembled on a baseplate and used to set the coupling spacing and coupling hub on the motor shaft.
20. Thrust bearing load calculations shall be provided to support the proposed thrust bearing. These calculations shall include the influence of max / min suction
28 pressure and flow effects from minimum continous to 120% of design flow.
29 21. Barrier Fluid for Pumps 13-G-21A/B shall be Duraclear DS-4614-32-F C
