1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to provide a procedure for operation of Reverse Osmosis
plant.
2. SCOPE
The scope of this document/SOP is to determine the operative procedure of containerized
RO plant in YKK Facility.
3. RESPONSIBILTIES
3.1 The Service engineer and/ or Supervisor is / are responsible to assure that operation of
reverse osmosis plant shall be carried out as per the procedure written in this SOP.
3.2 Operator is responsible to operate the whole system including chemical dosing system,
pre filtration system, RO plant and maintaining log book.
4. PROCEDURE
4.1 Before starting the plant, check the water level in feed water tank. On LOW level, Plant
will not start on AUTO.
4.2 Before startup also check the position of feed pump suction and discharge valve. If
close, open the valves of feed pump completely.
4.3 Ensure Chemicals in dosing tank up to the mark and pump selectors are on AUTO mode.
4.4 Make sure Selectors for Feed Inlet Valve, Backwash Pump, HP Pump and RO Feed Pump
are on AUTO mode.
4.5 Turn “RO UNIT” selector on AUTO mode to start the RO plant.
4.6 Keep an eye on actuators of inlet and outlet valves to see are they in correct position or
not.
4.7 Maintain log sheet of RO operational parameters on hourly basis.
4.8 If there is sudden change is observed in plant parameters, immediately report to your
supervisor.
4.9 In order to stop the plant, just turn “RO UNIT” Selector on OFF mode.
4.10 Dosing rates of Caustic, Acid and Hypochlorite are need to be monitored and
adjusted according to the requirement.
5. PRECAUTIONS
5.1 Never remove any component from the unit while under operation and pressure.
5.2 Don’t Turn-off the main breaker of system during operation.
5.3 This plant is fully automatic, controlled by PLC. Don’t bypass any safety or sensor.
