SYNOPSIS

ENTREPRENEURSHIP focuses the principles and concept of entrepreneurship. This


course concentrates on the systematic methods of getting business ideas. This
course also prepares the students on ways to conduct and control the business
including fundamental of management, marketing and financing. It also emphasizes
on the preparation of business plan, thus developing their entrepreneurial skills.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

1. Explain clearly the concept of entrepreneurship, business ownership and


procedures in setting up a business in case study given. (C2, PLO1)

2. Work cooperatively in group to complete the assigned project based on


entrepreneurial skills. (A3, PLO3)

3. present business plan creatively prepared using knowledge gained via group.(A2,
PLO7)

1.0 INTRODUCTION TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP (08 : 04)

Definition of an entrepreneur and entrepreneurship, differences


between the concept of entrepreneur and businessman, the
competency of successful entrepreneurship, the roles and social
responsibilities of entrepreneur, the important of e-business to
entrepreneur and the purpose of business plan. Definition of
business plan, purpose and the importance of business plan,
characteristic of a good business plan, business plan format and
minimum requirement required by financial institutions and
government agencies.

2.0 ENTREPRENEURIAL IDEAS AND OPPORTUNIES (04 : 02)

Sources of business idea, process to generate business ideas,


evaluation, approaches in seeking the business ideas and basis
in choosing a business.

3.0 BUSINESS OWNERSHIP (04 : 02)


Factors that influence business ownership, types of business
ownership, advantages and disadvantages, the differences of
business ownership and the procedure of business ownership
registration.

4.0 OVERVIEW OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (06 : 03)


The meaning of management, functions of management, the
organizational structure, operation management concepts,
operation process, location and production planning and the
capacity management.

5.0 OVERVIEW OF MARKETING (02 : 01)
Definition marketing and marketing mix. It also discusses
microenvironment and macro environment of target market and
market identification, practice of selling product and services.

6.0 BASIC OF ACCOUNTING (04 : 02)


Definition of accounting and the importance of financial
management in business planning and controlling. Define asset,
liabilities, owner equity, expenses and revenue; identify the
function and elements of financial statement.
