1. Use Tooling (L) to install seal (58) . Lower the temperature of bearing cup (57) . Use Tooling
(A) to install bearing cup (57) .
2. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (55) . Use Tooling (A) to install bearing cup (55) . Use
Tooling (A) to install seal (56) .
3. Use Tooling (L) to install seal (52) onto spindle 50.
4. Raise the temperature of bearing cone (53) . Use a suitable press, Tooling (A) , Tooling (S) ,
and Tooling (M) to install bearing cone (53) . After installing bearing (53) , apply Tooling (T)
to bearing (53) in order to prevent early hour failure.
5. Install stud (51) .
6. Position the front case on the spindle. Raise the temperature of bearing cone (54) . Install
bearing cone (54) . Complete Step 7 within ten minutes of removing the bearing from the heat
source.
7. Use a suitable press and Tooling (K) to apply 4 ton of pressure to the bearing. Rotate the
housing clockwise for five revolutions and rotate the housing counterclockwise for five
revolutions in order to seat the bearings. Install split ring (47) . Use Tooling (J) to measure
clearance between the bearing and split ring (47) . Remove split ring (47) . Remove the
pressure. Select a washer that is 0.10 mm to 0.20 mm (0.004 to 0.008 inch) thicker than the
clearance.
8. Install washer (48) and apply 4 ton of pressure.
Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily
injury.
To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure

and wear protective equipment.
9. Use Tooling (E) to install split ring (47) . Remove the pressure.
Note: Return the piston to the original bore.
10. Install roller (46) . Apply Tooling (N) to O-ring seal (45) . Install O-ring seal (45) . Install
piston (44) into rotor (40) .
11. Install washer (43) . Use Tooling (D) to install retaining ring (42) . Repeat Step 11 for the other
side.
12. Install rotor (40) . Install O-ring seal (41) .

Note: Align the mark on the cam ring with the mark on the front case.
13. Install cam ring (39) .

15. Install spring (36) . Install O-ring seal (37) . Install plug (38) . Torque plug (38) to 12 ± 15 N·m
(9 ± 11 lb ft).

17. Install spring (32) . Install O-ring seal (33) . Install plug (34) . Torque plug (34) to 35 ± 40 N·m
(26 ± 30 lb ft).
18. Install O-ring seal (29) . Install plug (28) . Torque plug (28) to 42 ± 45 N·m (31 ± 33 lb ft).
19. Install O-ring seal (27) . Install O-ring seal (26) . Install O-ring seal (25) .
20. Use Tooling (C) to install bushing (24) . Apply Tooling (N) to O-ring seals (23) . Install O-ring
seals (23) . Apply Tooling (P) to pin (22) and springs (21) . Install pin (22) . Install springs
(21) . Apply Tooling (N) to distributor (20) . Apply Tooling (N) to rear case (17) .
21. Use a soft faced hammer to install distributor (20) . Ensure that pin (22) is aligned with the hole
in rear case (17) .
Note: Align the mark on the rear case with the mark on the cam ring.
22. Use Tooling (U) to support the front case. Install rear case (17) . Install bolts (18) . Alternately
torque bolts (18) . Torque bolts (18) to 253 ± 2 N·m (187 ± 1 lb ft).

Note: Observe the shaft's direction.
24. Install shaft (16) .
25. Install the brake discs alternately in a vise. Measure Dimension (X) . Dimension (X) should be
48.5 ± 1 mm (1.90 ± 0.03 inch).
26. Install O-ring seal (13) . Install discs (11) and plates (12) .
27. Install spring (15) and spool assembly (14) .
28. Use Tooling (A) in order to install seal (10) in brake housing (9) . Apply Tooling (N) to seal
(10) .
29. Use Tooling (U) to hold the front case. Align brake housing (9) with the rear case. Install brake
housing (9) to the rear case. Ensure that the brake discs engage with the shaft and the brake
housing. Apply Tooling (Q) to bolts (8) . Install bolts (8) . Alternately torque bolts (8) . Torque
bolts (8) to 119 ± 2 N·m (88 ± 1 lb ft).
30. Install O-ring seal (7) . Apply Tooling (N) to seal (7) .
31. Use a soft faced hammer to install piston (6) .

32. Apply grease to disc spring (4) . Install disc spring (4) . Install fitting (5) .
33. Install gasket (3) .

34. Align cover (2) with the brake housing. Install cover (2) . Install bolts (1) . Alternately torque
bolts (1) .
35. Half fill the front case with gear oil. Apply Tooling (R) to plug (59) . Install plug (59) .
