    MUSICAL PROGRAM

    Preliminary regulations

    • The musical instrument must have a string length of at least 102 cm.

    • The candidates must play all their chosen repertoire using solo tuning.

    • The jury may decide to listen to the entire program, each piece or just an excerpt of the
    program or piece.

    • For each piece recommended editions are requested (the suggested list of compositions and
    their related editions are listed below in alphabetical order), but performances based on
    original manuscripts are always allowed. Furthermore, the Giovanni Bottesini Association, in
    partnership with the Biblioteca Palatina di Parma - Sezione Musicale (National Library in
    Parma), the “Arrigo Boito” Parma Conservatory and the “Giuseppe Verdi” Turin Conservatory, is
    involved in a project of urtext editions of Bottesini’s Music. These publications, if available
    before the Competition, will be added to the other recommended editions.

    For this 2021 Special Edition (Bottesini’s 200th birthday) the whole musical program is
    completely based on the music composed by Giovanni Bottesini.
