CUTTING AND WELDING PROCEDURES:

All cutting and welding operations performed at tuft by tuft
personnel or contractors must be carried out in accordance
with standards set forth by the American Welding Society and
the appropriate American National Standard institute standard
concerning cutting and welding.
Designated Areas should be barricaded.
Cutting and welding is only permitted by designated areas.
FIRE PRECAUTIONS
When cutting or welding outside a designated area, remove
the work to a safe location free of combustible materials if
possible.
If the work cannot be moved ,clear flammable materials and
rubbish from the area for about a 35 feet radius.
If these precautions are not feasible, shield or cover such
materials with fire resistive materials to protect them for
combustion.
Holes in the floor and walls must be covered to prevent sparks
from falling through unnoticed onto people or combustible
materials below.
Maintain a fire watch when doing this kind of work and have

a charged fire extinguisher readily available.

Do not cut or weld any closed vessel that has contained or has
suspected to have contained flammable or toxic materials until
it has been tested, thoroughly cleaned , purged and vented.
Traces of the material may still be in the vessel and result in a
fire or explosion ,or create a toxic exposure.
Accident Prevention
Common sense and safe working practice is the key to
accident prevention. If you are unsure about an
operation, request assistance.

SEQUENCE OF WORK
The following working sequences are to be followed in site.
1. Identify the materials and equipments in site.
2. Refer the drawings and ensure the proper locations and
dimensions by concerned engineer.
3. Arrange all tools, materials and equipments orderly near to the work
area. The following tools and equipments to be used
a)welding machine
b)electrodes
c)grinder
d)pipe supports
e)spirit level f)right
angle g)measuring
tape h)permanent

cylinder etc.
4. Prepare the pipes and other fittings as per approved drawings and
standards.
5. Start to fitup process as per approved welding procedure
specifications by qualified fabricators ,fitters and welders.
6. Check and ensure all welders and other technicians are qualified.
7. Monitor all welding and related works by approved supervisors and
qc inspector
8. Prepare all quality and related documents by qc inspector.
9. Coordinate with the owner and client inspectors or engineers for final
