I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to;

 Identify the features of an expository/informative speech;

 Give an informative speech in class;

 Manifest self-confidence and collaboration in activities.

Realizes the rigors of crafting one’s speech.

Proficiently delivers various speeches using the principles of effective speech

delivery.

Topic: Expository/Informative Speech

Resources/ Materials: Laptop, Power point presentation, Television, Chalk,

Eraser.

MOTIVATION

The teacher will select at least five students randomly and ask question to think

about a past lessons and subjects which interests the students or The teacher

will ask students to at least provide a trending topic/s in television, radio, or social

media sites that they know.

The teacher will also remind the students to incorporate facts and supporting

information when talking about the topic.

Through this activity, the students will already get the sense of how to deliver an

informative speech.

PRESENTATION

When you heard the word “Informative/Information” what comes into your mind?

ACTIVITY

The class will be watching a speech titled, “My Philosophy of a Happy Life”

delivered by Sam Berns on TedTalks.

ANALYSIS

After watching the video, the students will find a partner. Read the following

questions based on the video you just watched, and then choose the letter that

corresponds to your answer.

ABSTRACTION

The teacher will have an in-depth discussion with the students with regards to

informative/expository speech according to purpose and from time-to-time the

teacher will butt-in a questions related to the topics presented, which will help

them generalize the topic for the day.

Choose one topic that you want to develop and deliver as your five minute

informative speech.

Make sure to confer with your teacher to receive his/her feedback and approval.

This is a major activity, so make sure to set preparation time. In your preparation,

consider the following:

3. Initial draft of the speech

4. Final draft of the speech

5. Visual aids of the speech

6. Feedback from your classmates and teacher

7. Well-rehearsed presentation.

ASSIGNMENT

1. Watch an informative speech in YouTube delivered by any prominent

personality. Using a minimum of 100 words, point out the topic, purpose,

thesis statement, specific type, and organizational pattern employed in the

informative speech. Make sure to add your observations of the speaker as

well as his/her manner of delivery.

2. Format: computerized/ typewritten, Font style: Arial, font size:12pts, Double

space.

3. To be submitted on September 05, 2019.
