1. INTRODUCTION

As communicated via an FOT in July 2018, Airbus will establish operations based on the Electronic
Flight Bag (EFB) as the Airbus standard operations for A320family/A330/A340 aircraft. As a result,
Airbus will review all performance-related information of the operational documentation. Airbus will
remove the performance data that are related to paper-based operation by the end of 2020. This FOT
provides an update on the progress of some of the actions Airbus launched to achieve this objective.

2. DESCRIPTION

2.1 Release of a new EFB-Based Performance Chapter:

As a first step of this process and as per the plan, Airbus will release in December 2019 a new
FCOM performance chapter that will reflect EFB-based operations. As a transition, this new
chapter will be added to the current performance content that supports operations based on
paper performance tables.
The new performance section contains information regarding input and output parameters of
performance computation with an EFB. Additionally, guidance and recommendations are given
for performance computation on contaminated runways and with MEL/CDL items.
For Operators that already use the EFB for operations, they can use this new chapter.
At the end of this transition period, by end of 2020, Airbus will remove all paper-based
information, performance tables, graphs, and associated information from the FCOM.

2.2 For Operators who did not yet launch EFB implementation:

Since the beginning of this project, Airbus has provided support to customers in their
implementation of the EFB operation.

FLIGHT OPERATIONS TRANSMISSION - FOT

Today a vast majority of A320family/A330/A340 operators have already established EFB based
operations with success.
Given the short timeframe remaining until the end of 2020, Airbus strongly encourages
operators who did not yet launched EFB implementation to initiate the process without delay.
We kindly ask these Operators to inform Airbus of their situation and to ask for support if
needed. These Operators can contact their Flight Operations Support Director or they can
make a request via TechRequest.

2.3 Airbus Webinar

Since October 2019, Airbus presented an update of this project at the opportunity of the Airbus
and Navblue Flight Operations Regional Conferences.
In order to ensure that all Operators, including those who were not able to participate in these
events, share the same level of knowledge of this project, Airbus will run this presentation via
web conferences to be organized at the beginning of 2020. Please check your emails for an
invitation to these web conferences, or contact your FOSD if you wish to receive a personal
invitation.
Airbus strongly encourages Operators who are not yet fully engaged in the implementation of
EFB in their operations to participate in this presentation, in order to be fully aware of what is
going to change and what will be the impact for them.

3. FOLLOW-UP PLAN

Airbus will provide Operators with an update on this project at the opportunity of next symposiums,
regional seminars and web conferences.
Additional information about the project is available in the referenced ISI article.

For any questions about the operational content of this FOT, please use TechRequest, Flight
Operations domain on AirbusWorld.

Best regards,

Capt. Yann LARDET
