Malaysia is a popular tourist destination because the multicultural

country has diverse cultures, traditions, foods and places that is unique and
fascinating. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of the country which reflects the
multiracial community with stunning architectures such as Petronas Towers,
KL Tower and a number of colonial buildings. A stone thrown away from the
capital, there are islands, mountains, beaches and countless worship places
for all the races in Malaysia.

Malaysia is well-known for its various flavours and cuisines. There is no

doubt that tourists can find many types of cuisines across Malaysia.
Restaurants and hawker stalls all over the country serve Indian, Chinese and
traditional Malaysian foods. Since Malaysia was colonised by westerners,
continental food is also available in this food paradise. Some of the most
famous dishes that tourists must not miss are ‘Nasi lemak’, ‘Rendang’, ‘Nasi
kandar’, ‘Laksa’, ‘Roti Canai’, Hokkien mee, and Hainanese chicken.
Penang is the best state in Malaysia for food. Penang is long known as
the ‘Food Paradise Of Asia’ as it offers fabulous and exotic mix of delicious
cuisine. Penang food is a mix of traditional Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes,
as well as fusion cuisines such as Baba Nyonya which incorporates regional
ingredients and Chinese and Malay cooking methods. The street foods in
Penang are also popular among the locals and foreigners as the foods are
appetizing and mouth-watering.
Malaysia is special because of the variety of races, religions, and
cultures. As a result of the diversity, Malaysian produce a very unique
combination of foods that are not available in other countries. For instances,
Malaysians usually combine two or more cultural food recipes to produce one
food such as mee goreng mamak and nasi lemak goreng. Besides that,
Malaysia is the only country that offers almost all traditional cuisine from every
culture in one place. Hence, tourism to Malaysia is like a package that allow
tourists to experience eating foods from other cultural cuisines by just visiting
one country.
Another popular destination that one can visit in Malaysia is Malacca
City. After Penang, Malacca is the best place to look for scrumptious foods. As
Malacca’s food is influenced by a kaleidoscope of cultures, spanning
Peranakan, Portuguese, Dutch and British elements. The place also consists
of multicultural heritage buildings, ancient landmarks, colourful rickshaws and
colonial structures. Jonker Street is a heritage attraction which is the heart of
Malacca’s Chinatown. During the day, it is a food street that offers exclusive
Malaccan dishes such as Hainanese chicken with rice balls, Peranakan
dishes and Cendol. At weekend nights, the area is turned into a walking street
called Jonker Walk, where locals and foreigners can browse for street stalls
selling local food, crafts and souvenirs.
A popular destination around Malaysia that can be visited is Singapore.
However, Singapore is not cheaper than Malaysia. As in Singapore, one need
to pay 2 to 3 times more than in Malaysia for travel expenses such as food,
ground transport and basic services. In Malaysia, luxury hotels and travel
expenses are more reasonable in price. Moreover, the goods from foreign
brands are slightly cheap in Malaysia compare to Singapore in some cases
because the goods and services tax was recently abolished in Malaysia. Thus,
Malaysia is more affordable destination than Singapore.
