Assignment 10: Promotion


Instructions

Save this file in your course folder, and name it with Assignment, the section number, and your first
initial and last name. For example, Jessie Robinson's assignment for Section 1 would be named

Type the answers to the assignment questions below. Use complete sentences unless the question
says otherwise. You will have more than one day to complete an assignment. At the end of each day,

Assignment Questions

In Section 10, you learned about promotion. Now, you'll apply what you learned.

1. Describe a company that you think uses advertisement well as a promotional strategy.
What do you think makes their advertisements successful? (1-5 sentences. 2.0 points)
Coke uses its advertising strategy very well to promote itself. Your advertisements sell a new 
product to the consumer, namely happiness. Thus, by showing the happiness arising from the 
consumption of the product leads the consumer to acquire not only soda, but a state and 
spirit. This makes your ads successful.

2. Describe a company that has gotten publicity from the news media. Why did the
company get publicity? Was it positive or negative publicity? (1-5 sentences. 2.0 points)
A company that has gotten publicity from the news media is Samsung. This is definitely 
negative publicity, because it puts the company at risk and makes customers stray away from 
buying their products.

3. Describe a real or made up example of word of mouth promotion. Why do you think
people were motivated to spread this message to others? (1-5 sentences. 2.0 points)
Pinterest is a real example of word of mouth promotion. The Founder of Pinterest, Ben 
Silbermann motivated it's passionate but small, audience to plan a growth campaign. 
Audience was interested in promoting the brand because customers were actually getting a 
platform to share their own content.

4. Find an example of a print or Internet ad that includes images and text, and then answer
the following questions about it.
a. Describe the ad. (1-3 sentences. 1.0 points)
Mcdonald's all day breakfast. It shows their breakfast items, with high-quality images.

b. What do you think this ad's marketing message is? (1-5 sentences. 2.0 points)
TIP: Does it use a specific desire or fear, or does it try to show how the product is a
need or how it solves a problem?​They use desire because they show their
delicious looking food, and the customers
are warning it.

c. Is the ad trying to get people to do something? If so, what is it trying to get people to
do? If it isn't trying to get people to do something, what do you think the point of the ad is?

following questions about it.

Coke: share a coke ad, Coke started making the labels on coke bottles with
different humannames.

b. What do you think this ad's marketing message is? (1-5 sentences. 2.0 points)
TIP: Does it use a specific desire or fear, or does it try to show how the product is a

others. This concept allows consumers to share the product, which is
supposed to equate to happiness, with those they love.
