GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT WORK
A student can take up a project work only after completing a minimum of one
year after admission to M.S. Industrial Engineering and Management.
OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT WORK
1. To give exposure to the student on the methodology of planning a study, data
collection, analysis, presentation and decision-making problems related to
Industrial Engineering and Management.
2. To develop the ability to operationalise methodology for any problems both in
the internal and external environment.
3. To gain an insight into a problem and to know how the problems are identified
and solved.
PASSING REGULATIONS
The project work will be valued for a maximum mark of 100, of which 75 will be
for the project work and 25 for the viva–voce. A minimum of 50 marks is required to
pass the Project paper, of which he/she should secure a minimum of 30 marks in
the Project report alone. In case, a candidate fails he/she has to resubmit the project
Report. The viva-voce examination is compulsory for passing the project paper.
ELIGIBILITY OF PROJECT RESEARCH SUPERVISOR
The guide approved / appointed by the university shall be experienced and
qualified valuer possessing the post graduate degree in Master of Industrial
Engineering from any recognized / approved University in India. Faculty members
having 10 years teaching experience in Post Graduate Degree in manufacturing
Engineering courses.
PROJECT SYNOPSIS
Synopsis of the project should be prepared in consultation with project Guide,
under the following Captions.
1. Title of the Project
2. Objectives
3. Scope
4. Limitation
5. Methodology
PROJECT PROPOSAL SUBMISSION AND APPROVAL
After finalizing the topic and selection of the research supervisor, student should
send the project proposal proforma along with the synopsis and Bio-data of the
research supervisor. It is mandatory on the part of the students to enclose a passport
size photograph of their respective Research Supervisor for approval from the
Co-ordinator. Proposals incomplete in any respect will be summarily rejected.

FORMAT OF THE PROJECT REPORT

1. The Project report should not exceed 200 double spaced typed pages.
2. It must conform to the academic standards prescribed in the project manual
3. The Project report should contain a copy of the synopsis.
4. The project report should also contain a certificate of originality from the
guide.
5. Photo copy of the project approval letter issued by the Co-ordinator should be
attached to the report.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Project Title should be related to Industrial Engineering and
Management.
2. One typed copy of the project report and one soft copy in CD should be
submitted to the Directorate.
3. The students should bring another copy of their Project Report during Viva-
Voce examination.
4. It is the responsibility of the student to identify a suitable research supervisor
in the respective field and select the topic.
5. In case the proposed research supervisor is not acceptable to the Directorate,
the student may be advised to change the Research Supervisor.
6. The Research supervisor will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 2000/- for guiding
each student.
7. The research supervisor should not supervise more than 5 students in an
academic year.
8. Synopsis of the project and all enquiries regarding the project work should be

The last date to submit the Project Proposal is 15-03-2021.
The last date to submit the Project Report is 15-05-2021.
The Late submission of the Project Report will be accepted up to
31-05-2021 with a Late Fee of `500/.
9. The photocopy of the approval of the Project Proposal should be attached to
the project report.
10. The project report should contain a certificate duly signed by the research
Supervisor, stating that the project report is original work and not submitted
earlier to any University / Institute.
The submission of project Report after the last date fixed 31.05.2021 will not be
considered and the same will be returned to the candidate.
