THE LOGOS

Hello, You are watching a program Directive Dugin. Just got my two volumes from the
series of Naumachie devoted to Greece. The second volume devoted to the Byzantine for
the Logo that can be important on the eve of celebrations dedicated to the Millennium of
Russian monasticism on mount Athos.

The first volume of my new book dedicated to the Hellenic Logo and ends with Aristotle,
Alexander the Great and the Greek Empire. This is the source of all European, including our
Eastern-Slavic civilization. The Greeks actually discovered the Logo, created philosophy
and science, placed human and not only human but also divine thinking in the center of his
attention. The Greeks were the first to worship the Mind. And therefore their significance
for us all was and still is fundamental and absolute.

The Greeks thought of almost all ideas, motifs and concepts that later made up most
valuable in European culture and civilization. The culmination of Hellenic thought was
Plato and his followers. If all of Europe is only the echo of Hellenic greatness, the whole of
European philosophy, according to the statement Withada – notes in the margins of Plato.
Without Greece and in particular without Plato no European sense, we just will not
understand them. Greece is our roots, is the key to the depths of our consciousness. Fact
about Ancient Greece I was called the Valley of Truth, a quote from Plato.This Hellenic
valley of the infinite, as through it God in the Garden of Eden walks the eternal Logos,
freely and easily every time choosing new routes and orientation.

The second volume devoted to the Byzantine for the Logo. In it I trace the major
milestones of Greek culture from the Hellenistic through the Byzantine millennial
Kingdom before the Ottoman conquest, and even of our time. It is no less intense phase,
has already been fully predetermined in Christian Europe and especially the Orthodox
world, and therefore our Russian culture. But I wanted to show that without the ancient
heritage of the essence of Christian teaching will remain full and even incomprehensible.
Therefore, Greece should be studied in entirety – from its origins until the most recent
times.It is imperative of any civilized man, and especially every Christian. Here the gospel
of John is the most spiritual and deep begins with the words: In the beginning was the
Word. IN Greek ἐν ἀρχη ἠν ὁ λόγος (EN Arche EN Ho logos) Here we are talking about the
Logos, but to understand the meaning of the word Logos, in Greek with a few dozen values,
it is necessary to understand the full Hellenic culture, the basics of Greek philosophy.

In short, it is no coincidence to the arrival of the Bolsheviks all classical education was based
on the reservoir development of Greco-Roman Antiquity. We lost this tradition and got a
few generations of ignorant cultural people with disabilities. No refund of the Hellenic
heritage of Russia we do not save. This is not a society but a rabble. Not to be unfounded
and not to complain in vain about Greece, which we lost, I decided to write two volumes.In
them based on my method of the three Logos, which I develop in the whole cycle of works
on Naumachie, I have tried to describe the lines of force of the Hellenic and Byzantine
thought – philosophy and theology – in the most succinct and concise way. How I did it the
readers to judge. But of course it’s a drop in the ocean. The return of the Hellenic and
Byzantine heritage – that should be the task of several generations. And this thing literally
all of us. Starting with the basics of education and ending with higher school. It is important
to save Russia geopolitically, but even more, to walk steadily to the spiritual revival of the
people and society.But without a Logo it is simply impossible: the man devoid of the Logo
is an animal. At least so thought the Greeks.

NOOMAKHIA

(Corpus of philosophical works under the title “Noomakhia”)

As Alexander Dugin says: “Noomakhia” represents a cycle of texts and researches, it’s not
just a book, it’s a kind of Opus Magnum, something that synthesizes my philosophical
views, my research, which I conducted during the life. It is my testament, or the sum of my
works in different fields of knowledge”.

The “Small Noomakhia” includes five volumes:

1. “Three Logos: Apollo, Dionysus, Cybele”,
2. “The Logos Of Europe. Mediterranean civilization in time and space”,
3. “Civilizations of the borders: Russia, American civilization, the Semites and their
civilization, Arabic Logos”,
4. “Beyond the West – I: Indo-European civilization: Iran, India”,
5. “Beyond the West – II: China, Japan, Africa, Oceania”.
In the next phase, after having published these 5 big volumes, A. Dugin started to work on
an extended Corpus – “Big Noomakhia”.
Currently in Russia are published following books of this larger project:
1. “The German Logos. The Apophatic Man”,
2. “French Logos. Orpheus and Melusine”,
3. “England or Britain? Mission of Sea and positive subject”,
4. “Latin Logos. The Sun and the Cross”.
5. “Hellenic Logos. Valley of Truth”.
6. “Byzantine Logos. Hellenism and Empire”

The book dedicated to Iranian Logos (Iranian Logos. War of Light and the culture of
waiting) is finished and will be published soon.

I have no doubt that the intellectual history of the twenty-first century will give to those
books what they deserve. After publishing the works of A. Dugin “In search of the Dark
Logos” and “Noomakhia” it became possible to talk about the origin and development of
hermeneutics of the sacred — that is, hermeneutics, based on the identification of three
paradigmatic structures, or Logos (the Logos of Apollo, the Logos of Dionysus, the Logos of
Cybele). Noomakhia refers to Τιτανομαχία, and to γιγαντομαχία, being nothing else than a
metaphysical battle, the “war of Nous”, conflict between the structures of different logo.

Carl Kerenyi in his book “Dionysus” notes with regret that the academic community has
not been able to really perceive the “divine dance” of two principles – Dionysian and
Apollonian, and this concept has found a response exclusively on the periphery of the
academic world. Nietzsche was the first who opened the world of the God Dionysus and
offered binary hermeneutical scheme. In it Apollo and Dionysus appeared as the opposite
and complementary the beginning of life and culture. In the work entitled “In search of the
Dark Logos” Alexander Dugin added in hermeneutic model of Nietzsche the third principle,
namely Titanic principle, or Logos of Cybele, the Great Mother. What gives us the Triad of
Principles (Apollo, Dionysus, Cybele)? — The hermeneutics of the sacred. In “Nostalgia for
the Origins” Mircea Eliade spoke of the form of ierophania as prereflective language that
requires a special kind of hermeneutics. In 1968, he insisted on the necessity of a new
method/theory of interpretation of the manifestations of the sacred. After publication of
the book of Alexander Dugin “In search of the Dark Logos” it became possible to talk about
the development of the hermeneutics of the sacred, for in this truly fundamental work the
model of three Logos appears as key to the traditions, myths, philosophical systems and
historical process in General.

The Model of three Logos became a basis of my philosophical work “To Dionysus
persecuted. Prolegomena to a Philosophy of the Future” (2014). In this book I have analyzed
from a position of traditionalism the Western European civilization – from its sources to
the present. Here we talk with Alexander Dugin about Noomakhia (unfortunately, the
dialogue in Russian).
